This Year's Model Updates:

For the 2006 Toyota Avalon, the availability of stability control has been expanded to include the XL and Touring trim levels. Keyless startup is now standard, rather than optional, on the Limited.

Pros:
  • Carefully constructed cabin worthy of the Lexus name, powerful and fuel-efficient V6 engine, serene ride quality, huge rear seat, numerous upscale amenities.
Cons:
  • Refined nature leaves little room for personality, rear seats do not fold.

  • 2006 Avalon is SOLID! - 2006 Toyota Avalon

This car is a solid all around and I am very impressed with the performance so far. Build quality is top notch and this car feels like a Lexus inside. Gas mileage is great out of the box. I feel very safe in this car with the optional stability control. Its not a BMW, but this car has exceeded my expectation by far.

Great car, enjoy using the voice activation to control radio, AC and CD player. Nagivation system, takes some time to learn, but it has been great for mapping out points of interest, ie: golf courses, restaurants. Edmunds site was a great help in getting the best price.

  • An Excellent Vehicle - 2006 Toyota Avalon

This is, without a doubt, the nicest and most enjoyable vehicle Ive ever owned. It has everything I look for in a car; comfort, agility, and power. The exterior design is understated, yet stylish. The interior is extremely quiet and the controls are clean and logically laid out. The ride is smooth but not spongy. It has excellent acceleration and power while also providing respectable gas mileage. I enjoy driving this car in town; however, it really shines on the highway. The 12-speaker audio system is outstanding. The Limited comes with some "gee-whiz" features such as the heated/ventilated seats and power rear shade. I may not use them often, but its nice to have when you do.

Equivalent to high end luxury without the high end price tag. My car has been a gem after owning for nine years. It is still an enjoyable ride and drive.

  • Best Kept Secret - 2006 Toyota Avalon

This car doesnt get the fanfare that it should. Absolutely the best car under $40k and just as good as most cars in the $50k range. From the roomy interior to the vast technology, this car continues to impress while providing the prestige that I look for (without being gaudy). Im having a difficult time keeping my wife out of my Avalon, and she drives a Lexus!

I traded in my Mercedes-Benz E320 on the Toyota Limited. The Limited has almost all the features that the Benz had. The seats are more comfortable, & the added air conditioner along with the heated seats are better than the Benz (which had only heat). Of course there is the price. ($30000+ cheaper than the Benz) It has more horsepower than the Benz, & the comfort & roominess of the rear seats far surpass the Benz. I opted to buy a Tom Tom portable nav system. All in all, I am very satisfied with the Limited. The fuel mileage meter is a waste. By the time it figures out your actual mileage, youre on empty.

Drove this from FL to NH just after purchasing. Found the auto to be comfortable and a pleasure to drive. I had read reviews that mentioned soft ride and floating. I found that his car stayed fixed on the road as well as my BMW 325I.

Beautiful car. Handles great. Top of the line. Cant think of anything that could be added to make driving more pleasurable.

  • Avalon - the best car ever made! - 2006 Toyota Avalon

Luxurious, fun to drive, lots of power, easy on the eyes, lots of standard options (XLS model), and very comfortable!

  • As good as my 2000 XLS? - 2006 Toyota Avalon
    By -

It is a great large sedan and I love the space! My 2000 XLS had front seat adjustment memory controls which are missing on my new 2006 model. Wonder why they cut this out for 06? I liked those and would love to have them now. All in all, this car is a winner!
