This Year's Model Updates:

For the 2006 Toyota Avalon, the availability of stability control has been expanded to include the XL and Touring trim levels. Keyless startup is now standard, rather than optional, on the Limited.

Pros:
  • Carefully constructed cabin worthy of the Lexus name, powerful and fuel-efficient V6 engine, serene ride quality, huge rear seat, numerous upscale amenities.
Cons:
  • Refined nature leaves little room for personality, rear seats do not fold.

  • Best Avalon yet - 2006 Toyota Avalon

I started buying Avalons in 1995 and this is my 5th one. It is by far the best in amenities, performance, design and fuel economy. The things I would have improved on, from the past models, they addressed and more. I am extremely pleased in every way.

  • Let Down - 2006 Toyota Avalon

This is my sixth Toyota and the reliability is very uncharacteristic compared to all the others. Major oil leak problem twice now makes the car completely unreliable. Also had a leak in the moon roof fixed. Continual problem with acceleration from a stop position corrected intermittently by a "computer reset". I think Im going to trade it in. Also the car was bumped in a parking lot, in the front right causing only a scuff to the bumper. The whole bumper had to be replaced as it connects to the blinker light wells and the motor splash guard underneath, which both cracked.

  • Better than expected - 2006 Toyota Avalon

Mileage average is 27 GPM. Seats are very good, material has traction to keep the posture. Engines power is amazing. Gearbox shifts real smoothly and accurately. Toyotas quality follow-up is very strong, I know that they will make sure I stay happy with Avalon.

  • Traded a Volvo S-80 T-6 for the Avalon - 2006 Toyota Avalon

My wife and I absolutly love this car. We traded a top of the line Volvo S-80 T-6 and do not regret it a bit. I/we cant say enough about the car. It rides great, handles well and is ALMOST as quick/fast as the twin-turboed S-80. the 12-speaker sound system is far better than that of the Volvo. Simply a great car!

  • My Fathers Oldsmobile - 2006 Toyota Avalon

Strong acceleration, good fuel economy, flaccid handling, isolation in the passenger compartment, roomy, luxury without pretense, lots of features, reasonable price, unpretentious styling, this is my fathers Oldsmobile.

  • Best in its price range ! - 2006 Toyota Avalon
    By -

We purchased the limited edition and really love all the bells and whistles that Toyota puts in the car. The ride is very nice . Not as quiet as Lexus but pretty good. Very powerful engine that really delivers when you ask it to. The interior is by far the largest in its class. The back seat room is incredible! This is our second Toyota and will not be the last.

  • Dream on wheels - 2006 Toyota Avalon

Ive been reading consumer and auto magazines for close to a year and finally splurged. The Avalon Ltd. is close to the Lexus with about $5,000 savings in your pocket. Everything was standard. Ride incredable, reclining back seats, more gadgets than you can imagine, all with Toyota reliability. Used prices are actually more than the cost new from the dealer. Mileage 29-31 400+ miles between refills.

  • Homerun for Toyota - 2006 Toyota Avalon

Ive had it for just over a month (06) and can only say that I enjoy everytime I walk up to it and it automatically unlocks, the seats adjust to my position in memory and it gobbles up the asphalt effortlessly and luxuriously (even with the low-profile tires-215/55/17). It executes every maneuver very well. I havent driven it hard in corners but I know it will do ok if pushed. The gas mileage is phenomenal for a car of this size and power. I cant say enough good things about it except that I would buy another one in a heartbeat. And oh yeah, the leather is top notch, makes leather in American cars look cheap. I really feel like Im being pampered from the time I first walk up to the car door.

  • Go Toyota - 2006 Toyota Avalon

I owned many Toyotas, from trucks to Camrys, now I own an Avalon. The car has been totally reliable. Other than changing oil every 3000 miles and recommended services, this car needed no repairs. Frankly, dependability is the most important factor for me in owning a car. I can truly say that Toyota lives up to this standard My next car will be another Toyota Avalon. It comfortable, roomy, and best of all, the performance of this car is truly outstanding.

  • Second one I love them - 2006 Toyota Avalon

This is a totally awesome vehicle, broke it in with a 3000 mile cross country trip, and it satisfied every desire I had in a car. Everywhere we went people were impressed, and constantly compared it to a Lexus (got to love that).
