This Year's Model Updates:

For the 2006 Toyota Avalon, the availability of stability control has been expanded to include the XL and Touring trim levels. Keyless startup is now standard, rather than optional, on the Limited.

Pros:
  • Carefully constructed cabin worthy of the Lexus name, powerful and fuel-efficient V6 engine, serene ride quality, huge rear seat, numerous upscale amenities.
Cons:
  • Refined nature leaves little room for personality, rear seats do not fold.

I drove BMWs for 25 years the last 15 were 7 series and I was tired of repeated trips to the dealer to fix little anoyances. Mostly electronics or cheap plastics. This is the best car I have owned. Regardless of price! While handling is not as responsive or tight as a Luxury Eourpean Sedan it is comfortable, and reasuring. The interior is as roomy as my last 740 , the sound sytem is terrific, as is the A/C. The car is suprisingly fast as well. The extraordinary gas mileage is a real plus in todays $3.00/gal market.

  • Love it! - 2006 Toyota Avalon

I really love this car. It is affordable luxury...a pleasure to drive. The only thing I could complain about is the day after a long trip I washed my car and (barely noticeable) yellow bug guts stained the bumper. The dealership said that just happens and if they repainted, it would just hapen again. I would think paint finishes today would not have that problem, so I was disappointed to say the least in product and response. Also, occasionally when the automatic transmission is shifting down it "jumps". The dealership said the cars computer would work it out within 10k miles...not impressed again by the response I got, as it was getting worse at 8k miles. But, its still my dream car.

A very advanced car, nice features but you need to read the manual to learn how to use some of the features. After reading manual you may need to review it to be able to know to use components.

  • Best car I ever bought - 2006 Toyota Avalon

We had an 05 Buick LaCrosse which was a piece of junk, and traded for on 06 Avalon Limited. The Avalon is the best car I have ever owned. Fit and finish is outstanding, gas mileage is terrific. The ride is smooth and quiet. I have friends that are over 250lbs and they can get in and be comfortable. I had the windows tinted- pin stripped-gold plated the emblems and put chrome wheels on it. People think it is a Lexus. People should test drive the vehicle or take it home overnight, then they would know if they like the car or not. I will buy another Avalon.

  • MY NEW LOVE - 2006 Toyota Avalon

I have driven Volvos, when I needed a new car I did research and rather than going back to my first love, I decided on this Avalon. Im happy I got it, it feels safe, it is reliable, and is a very good looking car. Has all of the features I wanted, would have liked to have navigation, perhaps Toyota will add this in the future.

  • Owner profile LIMITED EDITION with Nav. - 2006 Toyota Avalon

Unable to obtain the 31 mpg unless driving on an un-impeded highway. Low speed (up to 15 m.p.h.) engine noise, high speed--excessive tire noise. Lighting on some controls not adequate or not available on some of the controls at all. Learning the navigation system is extremely difficult. My prior car was an Acura TL-S type with NAV. It was much easier to learn and operate. Side door and panels have no ding protection.

Best luxury car Ive ever driven. I got ventilated seats in the front that is air conditioned and heated. I also love my mirrors which are self adjusting so if someone puts on their blinders my mirrors adjust to keep the lights out of my eyes at night.

  • Best car I have ever owned - 2006 Toyota Avalon

I have owned over an estimated fifty (50) cars in my life time and this Avalon is the best. My last seven have been Toyota including three (3) trucks. This car is an engineering marvel. I love the ride, gas mileage, rooming, security, everything is easy to get at. Folks, Toyota has done it again, THE BEST.

  • A few things that I would change... - 2006 Toyota Avalon

Park far away because any door that hits into this car, you will get knicked. Gas mileage averages 20MPG and the best 25, not what its rated at. Inside compartments get stuck sometimes. Passenger seat doesnt have many options. Kids love the back seat (reclining), but when left reclined, its not comfortable getting into. Trunk space should be more. Im keeping my van for family trips longer then 3 hours. I love riding in it & navigation is pretty easy. I dont have a problem with voice commands, but system doesnt like my husbands voice for some reason. (He doesnt have an accent, just a lower voice then mine!) Sometimes it takes several attempts.
