This Year's Model Updates:

For the 2006 Toyota Avalon, the availability of stability control has been expanded to include the XL and Touring trim levels. Keyless startup is now standard, rather than optional, on the Limited.

Pros:
  • Carefully constructed cabin worthy of the Lexus name, powerful and fuel-efficient V6 engine, serene ride quality, huge rear seat, numerous upscale amenities.
Cons:
  • Refined nature leaves little room for personality, rear seats do not fold.

  • Amazed with this vehicle - 2006 Toyota Avalon

I had 3 requirements - A/C seats, GPS, Laser Cruise Control. Laser Cruise is awesome, drivers seat cushion extension is dynamite, voice activated GPS is too cool, smart key is superb, I am averaging 31.4 mpg at 75 mph with A/C on --- can you beat that ? Plus 280 hp, 0-60 in 6.5 secs, 15.0 second 1/4 mile - UNBEATABLE. The Blizzard Pearl White with Ivory leather is absolutely gorgeous, Ive had many compliments. Compare the interior dimensions on the new Avalon with ANYTHING out there and you will be sold. The A/C seats are superb and the 260 watt JBL stereo is outstanding.

  • Great comfortable car - 2006 Toyota Avalon

Bought the Avalon with 150,000 miles on it. Now has 205,000 & just routine maintenance battery, brakes, oil changes & tires. It rides as good as my Mothers cadillac dts. Very comfortable car for road trips or just city driving. I would highly recommend this car, after all its a Toyota, what more can I say - extremely dependable! Overall a classy luxury car for the young or young at heart.

  • Outstanding for the money. - 2006 Toyota Avalon

This has beat every luxury car I have owned---BMW-Jaguar-Cadillac. It beats all in quality and comfort. Style could be a bit better but for the money the car is super. It is priced at a much lower price that the Lexus but has all the features of the top of the line Lexus. Highly recommend unless you are willing to spend $15-20K more for upgraded style.

  • best buy for my money - 2006 Toyota Avalon

If I was given the money to buy a more expensive luxury car I would still choose the Avalon and keep the extra money. I might choose Touring with more options. The gas mileage has been great Regularly 32-34 mpg sometimes 37 mph hwy and 29 mpg city. Size is great for a family & reliability of the car has been excellent with no down time besides regular maintenance & oil changes. After buying 3 cars from Bob Smith Toyota they gets our families "kudos" in total satisfaction from sales to service. During my driving history (9 vehicles, 4 new) and driving over 25 years there has been no better dealership!!! The Avalon is tops for Economy, Safety, Reliability, Comfort, and looks.

  • Best Car Ive Even Owned. Period - 2006 Toyota Avalon

I bought a 2006XLS in March 2006. Today, it has 206,000 miles on it without one single problem. I have replaced the tires, battery and brake pads. It still has the original spark plugs, water pump, starter, antifreeze, trans fluid and serpentine belt (which isnt even cracked!). This car has been nothing short of amazing. It is big, the back seat is the biggest of any car I have seen. It is fast with plenty of torque all the way through the powerband, feels like a V8. It averages 27 miles to the gallon with 80 percent highway driving. It is super quiet and smooth. The Camry isnt even close to an Avalon. This is BIGGER than Lexus ES350, yet cheaper. Im going to keep on driving it.

  • A smooth ride - 2006 Toyota Avalon

As my BMW 330i lease was coming to an end, I learned that a second kid was on the way. I knew I needed something bigger, but I did not want to give up sportiness, power, etc., completely. I checked out a lot of vehicles, including the Charger, Altima SE-R, Azera and Maxima. Bottomline, the Avalon Touring easily offered the best combination of things I was looking for in a new car. It has power, acceleration, decent handling (you can take moderate turns aggressively), room, comfort, good gas mileage, Toyota reliability... and, the interior of the Touring is sporty. I hate fake wood trim and probably would not have purchased a different trim if the Touring did not exist.

  • Love it ..so far - 2006 Toyota Avalon

Just bought a XLS with Nav 1 week ago. Love the car, fun to drive, smooth and comfortable. The nav system is not at the same level of features or usability as some others, but it will get you there, once you figure the functionality out.

Quiet and smooth. Good power and great mileage. I averaged 32.5 on a 1600 mile trip according to the computer. Dislike having to stop to program memory seats and navigation. Overall the navigation system is not user friendly. I always take my Garmin and it gives me much more information and quicker. I still like the car.

  • The best underground vehicle - 2006 Toyota Avalon

Ive had it for about a year and when I first got it I wasnt expecting it to have as much of horsepower as it has. Ive gone to Atlanta a couple of times and used the navigation all the way and I got to were I needed to be with no problem. Atlanta is about 372 miles from where I live and it took about two hours and forty five minutes.

I have driven my 2006 Avalon Limited 20,000 miles so far. It is the best car I have ever owned, gets the best gas mileage and has the most comfort features (air cooled and heated seats, keyless entry and driving). It is truly a luxury car for $35,000, has more features than cars that cost thousands more. Very safe and very fun to drive, has loads of pickup and passing capability.
