This Year's Model Updates:

The Vue is an all-new sport-utility vehicle in Saturn's lineup, designed to compete on the lower end of the scale with models like the Ford Escape and Honda CR-V.

Pros:
  • Car-like handling, extensive choice of drivetrains, spacious cabin.
Cons:
  • Bland interior, noisy four-cylinder.

Will never buy this SUV again. I have owned several good quality automobiles, but the Saturn Vue turned out to be the nightmare of my life. Transmission has failed for the fourth time since I purchased this vehicle. Repairing it has not been helpful. This is the third winter I am riding the bus to work and still paying a note on this vehicle. The cost of the transmission is more than the vehicle is worth at this point and it seems like a bad investment anyway to pay that much for a transmission that has not been designed to hold up.

  • Saturn VUE stability in question - 2002 Saturn VUE

Ive owned my Saturn VUE for 5 almost 6 years. I have had issues with stability on the highway on windy days and with potholes or uneven freeways. It almost rolled over once and that was very scary. Im not a speedy driver either. I took it in and they adjusted the alignment and it helped somewhat but Ive been scared to drive it ever since. Ive also had issues with air conditioning fluid leaking onto my feet from the console. Have reported this several, several times and nothing was done about it. The tires are not good in the snow.

My problems started about two months after my purchase with a minor problem. From there, I had a problem about every one or two months. I have had it in the shop nine times in the past year and a half for warranty work. I have had the same problem four different times in two different instances--the SES light and the front suspension system. Just this past weekend, both went bad again. I have notified Saturn customer service and the only thing I received for the bad quality of my car was a free monthly payment.

I feel that this vehicle is more of a sporty SUV than a luxury SUV. It would be nice of Saturn could make a smoother riding SUV such as the trailblazer, etc. You can feel every bump and hear every rattle. Road noise is very loud and when the wind blows it does not handle very well.

  • Good Choice - 2002 Saturn VUE

Wasnt planning on purchasing vue. Had looked at Escape & Forrester and thought I would eventually pick one of them as I dont really need true 4- wheel drive or a monster truck. Test drove a vue (6 cyl.)and was quite impressed. Perfect vehicle: plenty of room, adequate power, excellent ride. As a previous owner of saturn, I think their service is by far the best!

  • I hate this car! - 2002 Saturn VUE

Worst car I have ever owned! I bought this car in 06 and have had problems ever since! Within a week of getting it, it went the shop for a mouth and a half. and I have had problems ever since. Wish I could trade it in instead of putting more money in it but cant afford either one right now. I really dislike this car!

  • Lovin It! - 2002 Saturn VUE

We waited FOREVER to get this car. We needed a larger vehicle than our Saturn SL2 (also great!) for toting both car seats. We ordered ours and were extremely pleased with it. We have had no problems and nothing but positive things to say. It is obvious that much thought was put into the design of this vehicle, inside and out...from the organizer basket in the cargo area to the handy fuse placements... I love this car!!!

  • In a class by itself - 2002 Saturn VUE

Our 4-cylinder CVT is unlike anything else you can buy anywhere. Truly distinctive styling and several very high tech features: CVT, electronic steering, high impact body panels make it unique. Hard to find anything that can hold as much and get mileage in the 20s. We see CR-Vs and RAVs every 30 seconds on the road. Love the Vue!

  • Have it almost a year, still love it - 2002 Saturn VUE

Had our VUE almost a year and still very satisfied. No rattles or squeaks in interior and no problems at all with build quality. 4 cyl./5 speed combo offers plenty of zip but would go for 6 next time for its extra towing capacity. Rear seat is low but I dont sit there, the kids do, and they dont mind. Split rear folding seat + front passenger folding seat very nice.
