This Year's Model Updates:

The base 1.8 model receives the body-colored door handles and upper instrument panel storage bin from the upper-level models. A trip computer and cruise control are now included on the 1.8 S, and all models receive new seat fabrics. There's also a new color for the gauge cluster housing on the SE-R, and a new shift knob for the SE-R Spec V.

Pros:
  • Functional cabin design, powerful 2.5-liter engine, nimble handling, lots of standard features.
Cons:
  • Generic styling, small backseat, SE-R Spec V model commands premium price.

  • My Sentra - 2005 Nissan Sentra

  • NICE BUT UNDERPOWERED - 2005 Nissan Sentra
    By -

Its a nice little car, but feels underpowered. I have the special edition w/ alloy rims, rockford fuzgate stereo, and a little rear spoiler. Overall im happy with the car but that underpowered feeling doesnt go away. Also the gas miliage im getting is lower then the epa estimates. It is 29 mpg overall, but i do atleast a third of my driving on the highway. The 1 other drawback, and its minor is the cup holder. Its by far the worst ever designed. wont hold anything bigger then a 12oz can and theres no room virtically so the larger cups w/ slim bases dont fit either. Had i realized this, I probably would have passed on the car, eventhough it was very good value.

  • My first foreign car - 2005 Nissan Sentra

This is my first import in 20 years. Traded in my Envoy for this car, and so far I love it! Mileage is excellent, but Im still getting used to the small size. Looked at Hondas, but due to the price and the way I was treated at my local friendly dealership, I wouldnt have a Honda for anything now. I was treated extremely well at the Nissan dealership and plan to make them my first visit for my next car. I love this car!

  • my opinion - 2005 Nissan Sentra

i have owned a 2001 altima and now have a 2005 sentra, body, comfort, reliability are basically the same as my old altima mileage is great. the only thing i have found im not real fond of is it is lighter than the altima was and is easy to drift when trucks pass it,

  • Good commuter car, Faulty Head Gasket - 2005 Nissan Sentra
    By -

Used as as commuter car, it has done really pretty well until the head gasket issue hit us. Nissan should have recalled these vehicles since it is a known defect. It sure seems like every 2005 Sentra WILL eventually have to have the head gasket repaired at $1000+ ($1200 in our region). Shame on Nissan. It has performed admirably other than this major issue. Nice mileage (Avg 36 mpg), and a work horse for us commuting long distances. With the defective head gasket on these cars, we cannot recommend them. We feel our loyalty to Nissan is forever damaged since they have shown no loyalty back to us by not recalling a known major issue. Buyer beware if the head gasket has not been replaced!

  • good buy - 2005 Nissan Sentra
    By -

2 months old and 3750 miles and no problems. quieter and more comfortable than my 2002 civic...but, gas mileage not as good. great stereo/cd player, breathable seating material, comfortable seats, power options work as expected

  • not a bad car - 2005 Nissan Sentra
    By -

I have the special edition model. The stereo is awesome for stock. I bought the car with 75000 miles on it. It now has 105000. I havnt had any mechanical problems other than it is a 3 cranker starter, also the brakes (normal wear and tear), the fan blade burning out (easy to replace) and a pulley that is squawking (yet to replace but no real problems with it yet). Im not sure of any mechanical problems if any the car had before i bought it. I have a lead foot and drive the car hard everyday and the car takes it and then some with ease.

  • DONT BUY NISSAN!!!! - 2005 Nissan Sentra
    By -

ive had nothing but problems with this car. The bumper randomly fell off, the cd player wont eject or take a cd, the visors wont stay up, battery went out after 6 months, blown head gasket, the passenger side windows wont roll down or if you get them down wont go back up, break light switch went out, check engine light wont go off...keeps saying cylinder 3 is misfiring and all the coils, plugs, injectors have all been replaced and STILL cant figure the problem out. This has all happened within the last year. And nissan has nothing to say about any of this. WORST CAR EVER!! i will never again buy nissan or recommend it to anyone. Not even your worse enemy deserves this pain in the ass.

  • Great Little Car - 2005 Nissan Sentra
    By -

Its a fun little car to drive. There are other cars out there with better performance, but at a much bigger price tag. Ive had the car for almost 3 years now, I love the performance. No matter how fast Im going, if I hit the gas, it still has plenty of pick-up. Due to the size of the engine, the fuel economy isnt the best (maybe its how I drive). The torque also makes driving in the snow a challenge. The front seats are very comfortable, the back seat is small for 2 adults, 3 adults is just uncomfortable.

  • Sentra Blues - 2005 Nissan Sentra

I have been a Toyota owner for years and a Toyota mechanic but when I needed a new car I thought I would try my first Nissan. It was a mistake. To compare the design quality of a similar Toyota such as a Corolla to a Sentra is like comparing night and day. Here are some examples. The trunk on a Sentra is much smaller than a Corolla. Additional Sentra problems that Corolla does not have: engine performance-poor. Cruise control is too fast and the trans immediately kicks down. Fuel economy is no where near the 40 MPG other reviews have stated. I get about 28 MPG. Radio sounds bad. CD player is a joke. Who ever designed the cup holder should be bared from auto design for life. I could go on.
