Overview & Reviews
A long overdue 250-horsepower V6 engine debuts for 2001, making Pathfinder the most powerful SUV in its class. An interior freshening and more standard goodies, as well as snazzy options like an in-dash navigation system and an entertainment system for rear-seat occupants, are new for 2001. Also added to the LE's options list this fall is the handy All-mode automatic 4WD system from the Infiniti QX4.
- Powerful V6 engine, car-like interior, good reliability record, rear entertainment system option, available Infiniti All-Mode 4WD on LE models.
- Tight rear seat, high price tag, cheap interior bits.

Dealer decline to honor warranty - 2001 Nissan Pathfinder
By gilbert - March 17 - 2:00 amThe car showed a paint imperfection like small craters all around the body. I took the car to the dealer to get the dealer paint the car. However it declined to do. The fact is that the car is parked under the roof/garage all the time. The dealer alleged it was caused by environment. The dealer is Motorambar, San Juan Puerto Rico.

Steering Shutter/Load Capacity - 2001 Nissan Pathfinder
By angry1 - September 20 - 2:00 amI just dumped my 01 Pathfinder for a Ford Explorer. Anyone buying this truck should know that its more a sports car on stilts than an SUV. With a 1,000 pound load (including passengers), its bottomed out...no shock absorbtion at all. Additionally, I went through 2 sets of tires and 14 service visits to fix a steering wheel shutter that begins at 60 and never goes away. Its still there after 45,000 miles and Nissan cant/wont fix it. RECOMMENDATION - Take it on the highway b4 you buy it! Dont get stuck with one like I had. Other than that, a very quick, fun to drive, reliable truck....but not worth the BS.

Last Nissan Ill Buy - 2001 Nissan Pathfinder
By billbern - July 19 - 10:00 amVehicle is fun to drive, ride is truck- like. Assembly was top-notch, but quality of parts is disappointing. Reliability is dismal, it has a great engine but everything else has been poor quality. Rear suspension problems and failures, electronics (six O2 sensors in 3 years, cd changer died 1 month out of warranty), brakes squeal, leather color flakes off, you name it. Vehicle spends as much time in the shop as it does on the road.

Never again - 2001 Nissan Pathfinder
By Steve - May 23 - 3:56 amThis was my second Pathfinder after having a 1992. Not the same company anymore. Corporate does not stand by their product. Exhaust broke at the flange which is common Im told after just 4 years! Corporate would not pick up any of the cost and Im stuck with a $850 service bill. O2 sensors and check end light is a nightmare. Rims do not make a good seal on the tires. Faulty struts on this year model. Bose cd changer broke twice.

Too many issues - 2001 Nissan Pathfinder
By gayrand - February 13 - 12:20 pmIve liked driving this vehicle for the past 5 years, but the issues Ive had with it are enough that I wouldnt buy another. I had to replace all six ignition coils. When the first 1 went, I took it to a dealer who wanted a lot of money to replace all 6 - when only 1 was faulty. I took it to an independent repair facility, and got another year out of the vehicle before a 2nd coil needed replacement. Slightly less than a year after that and a 3rd went, at which point I replaced the remainder. Top that off with the failure of the CD player at about 60k & finding that was a "known issue". Next time around Ill be going Honda or Toyota - and that will be soon.
