This Year's Model Updates:

All Altimas receives exterior styling enhancements, including new smoked headlamps and taillights, new wheel designs and a restyled front fascia and grille, along with a much needed interior redesign. The 3.5-liter V6 gets five more horsepower and three more lb-ft of torque, for a total of 250 and 249, respectively, and is now available with a five-speed automatic transmission. A new performance-oriented SE-R model joins the lineup along with a leather-lined 3.5 SL model. A newly optional DVD-based navigation system and two new exterior colors round out the changes.

Pros:
  • Sports car power in a midsize sedan body, excellent handling, roomy and comfortable interior, high level of features, distinctive styling.
Cons:
  • Considerable road noise, overboosted steering, no stability control, ABS still an extra-cost option.

What a car! The performance is awesome with its V6 250 HP engine. It handles very well like a sports car with a sedan size body. If you want a powerful sedan, this is the car you want.

Went from a 2005 $65K E-class Mercedes to this! I just got tired of knowing my service adviser on a first name basis. This car has been great to own/drive. Its roomy for clients and has just enough performance not to let me get bored like my Accords did. I had one small interior molding issue and that was fixed in just a few hours by the dealer.

  • AWSOME!! - 2005 Nissan Altima

Got the SL package after checking out the others in the lot. No comparison. The acceleration is unbelievable, and the interior (though we werent looking at leather at the time) is nice and comfortable-the grab handles are a must w/ the 3.5! Lots of bang for the buck. 0-80 happens before you have a chance to say "whew!- did you see that?" Very, very nice. Had the rear spoiler added at the deal,so no extra charge, which adds to the appearance of the nice lines this car already had. Oh- 4 wheel disc (ABS) comes in handy with this second-in- line four door sports car (behind the Max,of course...)

  • Why buy anything else? - 2005 Nissan Altima

I was leasing a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix GT and was more or less pleased with its performance....until I took out a 2005 Nissan Altima 3.5 SE for a test ride. I was astonished at the horsepower, feel, look and quality of this Altima given the asking price! I had to buy it...and I have had a hard time parking it at the end of the day! What a fantastic car!

This Nissan will probably be our last. We have had 4 sensors go out, the shifter assembly went out and needed to be replaced, the brake rotors were warped when we picked the car up new from the dealer. This car has been nothing but problems.

Altima is a fun car to drive, the first week I had it we took a little four day trip down through West Virginia. The Altima performed great on those narrow, curvey roads. I just love the auto but may not get to drive often as my wife has taken it over. HaHaHa

  • Great Value, Nice Style - 2005 Nissan Altima

I was really torn between the Altima, Camry, and Accord. I chose the Altima basically because of the sale price which was considerably lower mainly due to the 1500 dollar rebate. The Altima style is nicer in the 2005 model over previous years,in my opinion. Great fit and finish. More horsepower than the Camry and Accord.Good standard features included. More room than the Camry and Accord.Handling is good and things are kept simple, but have an elegant glow.Plenty of trunk space. The only "cons", if you can call them that, are ABS brakes are not standard, somewhat noisy ride, and auto tranny shifts a bit harsh. But these are very minor and are not bothersome. Besides, I like that engine growl.

Just got mine yesterday and loving every minute driving it.The car is real SHARP looking! Even with my neighborhood littered with Altimas, mine still turns heads. The Sheer Silver with the chrome accents on the door really puts an exclamation point on an already gorgeous car. Also like the new alloys for 05 and the redesign of the interior.

  • Nice Car! - 2005 Nissan Altima

This is a very classy car. I test drove at least six other 4cyl cars and none even came close to having the pep of the Altima. This car flies for a 4 cylinder. The Bose audio system is outstanding, but the radio reception is weak. The blond interior is sleek and beautiful with a rich feel. This car turns heads as you drive. The things I dont like are the door locks which are easy to accidently lock. I also had a torn CV boot at 4000 miles. The trunk lid has a problem staying open especially with a spoiler. Since the good points overweigh the bad, overall I am happy with this car.

  • Poor - 2005 Nissan Altima

I purchased the car and less than 200 miles and the transmission does not want to shift out of park, The interior brake light will only come on when the shifter wants to come out of park. The exterior brake lights come on but thats not the problem, the transmission can be released by a pushing a key into the key release slot. But its definitely a hassle to have to have to put a key in there every time to shift into a different position. And thats what the dealership told me to do.
