This Year's Model Updates:

All Altimas receives exterior styling enhancements, including new smoked headlamps and taillights, new wheel designs and a restyled front fascia and grille, along with a much needed interior redesign. The 3.5-liter V6 gets five more horsepower and three more lb-ft of torque, for a total of 250 and 249, respectively, and is now available with a five-speed automatic transmission. A new performance-oriented SE-R model joins the lineup along with a leather-lined 3.5 SL model. A newly optional DVD-based navigation system and two new exterior colors round out the changes.

Pros:
  • Sports car power in a midsize sedan body, excellent handling, roomy and comfortable interior, high level of features, distinctive styling.
Cons:
  • Considerable road noise, overboosted steering, no stability control, ABS still an extra-cost option.

  • Follow-up After 2 Years: Still Good - 2005 Nissan Altima
    By -

It has been two years since I bought my used Altima, and Im not loving it any less. Mileage is now at 73K and the car is asking for new brakes and shocks soon. Also, strangely, a motor mount bushing cracked. A few annoyances: Turning radius is too large, brake interlock in auto trans. clicks loudly when coming to a stop, and sometimes hard 1-2 downshifts. Now that I have the bad out of the way, none of the above prevents me from endorsing this car. Car is still comfy, stylish and sporting. Beyond one trim piece cracking, materials quality is satisfactory.

  • Performance meets Daily Driver - 2005 Nissan Altima

I was looking for a car with a good kick. Looked at both 2.5 and 3.5. Just do yourself the favor and get the 3.5. Smooth ride and it itches for you to floor it. After 8000 miles, no major problems. Easliy does the daily commute and equally able to handle a good run out on country roads. Being 65" its one of the biggest interiors avaiable in a sedan. It easily holds my 62" brother behind my seat. For those with a racing side, this car can be easily modified to get more speed and handling for this car.

This car has got the LOOK !!!!! It runs smooth as silk... The new interior design and color combinations match the exterior colors perfectly... The BOSE 6 CD/8 Speaker system has excellent sound reproduction. Nissan has really amped up the performance/fun factor !!! I just cant stop staring at it....

  • 2005 Nissan Altima 3.5 SE-R - 2005 Nissan Altima

I bought this car at a large auto auction. I was looking for a 2005 Altima SE or Maxima SE. Came across this one and fell in love with its design. This car has it all for a stock 4-door sedan. The gas mileage is okay, I am averaging 21 MPG, but that is probably due to the fact that this car wants to be driven hard. This car will flat out fly. I had to by the automatic b/c the wife refuses to learn a manual. The ride quality of this car is good, but not great. This is due to the 18 inch low profile wheels and super stiff sport suspension. This is not your grandpas Caddy. Bottom line, I would buy this over the competition. Nissan is making some of the best cars on the road.

  • Good car for the money - 2005 Nissan Altima

For a reasonably priced Nissan, the Altima gives you great bang for the buck. The 4cyl automatic is really fun to drive. Quick on its feet, good handling and a real sporty feel. Comes with great standard features, but no frills. Fairly dependable, but goes through brakes quickly, and watch the wheel bearings, as they tend to wear out at about 30K.

  • Good long distance driving car - 2005 Nissan Altima

Ive had my Altima for almost two years. Most of the miles on my car are interstate driving. It drives very well. The backseat is very comfortable. My dad is 64" and he was shocked that he could sit in the back comfortably. Overall I have been really pleased with the car.
