Overview & Reviews
All Altimas receives exterior styling enhancements, including new smoked headlamps and taillights, new wheel designs and a restyled front fascia and grille, along with a much needed interior redesign. The 3.5-liter V6 gets five more horsepower and three more lb-ft of torque, for a total of 250 and 249, respectively, and is now available with a five-speed automatic transmission. A new performance-oriented SE-R model joins the lineup along with a leather-lined 3.5 SL model. A newly optional DVD-based navigation system and two new exterior colors round out the changes.
- Sports car power in a midsize sedan body, excellent handling, roomy and comfortable interior, high level of features, distinctive styling.
- Considerable road noise, overboosted steering, no stability control, ABS still an extra-cost option.

Sweet car - 2005 Nissan Altima
By Matt J. - April 24 - 1:16 pmRecently purchased black 2005 Altima 3.5SE with 5speed. Traded in family minivan and couldnt be happier. Room is aplenty. Has two personalities- family sedan and adrenaline-juiced sports car. Styling is sweet both inside and out.

Good car still going strong - 2005 Nissan Altima
By Phred - April 21 - 10:00 amBought the car new; no problems in 60,000 miles. Just had brakes replaced for first time at 60k miles - dealer said he never heard of them lasting that long (I dont race to red lights and stop signs). Speedometer has always read 3 MPH higher than actual. Nice highway cruiser. Drives well with all season tires in Rochester, NY winter snows.

Why not to buy Altimas from an Engineer - 2005 Nissan Altima
By daveed - April 5 - 10:00 amI have had multiple problems with my 2005 3.5SE. I have been to the dealer 4 times in 3 months for different reasons. Nissan consumer help is lacking in technical knowledge, and always says, "That is normal operation." The alignment will not stay straight, radio reception is poor, A/C wont shut off until the car is turned off, rear view mirror is impossible to see out of at night (dangerous!), glare from front and rear dashboards obstructs view, and it doesnt get that good of gas mileage. So overall, the designers of this car did not think through their comfort factor of the car, only the power and the looks.

Love My Altima - 2005 Nissan Altima
By nikki157 - March 16 - 12:30 pmI purchased my altima with 1 mile on it, and that was my test drive. I have not had any problems out of it. In fact cannot ever remember it being in the shop for other than an oil change and new tires. I drive about 75-100 miles per day and get great gas mileage. I have taken this car on numerous road trips without even thinking twice. It has 160K miles on it now and still runs like the day I pulled it off the lot. Car is super cute and makes you feel like a million bucks driving it, love the looks it gets going down the road. And who says family sedans arent sporty and a blast to drive?

Got screwed by Nissan again - 2005 Nissan Altima
By nissancrap - March 10 - 5:53 pmI have a 2005 altima SE 3.5 with 80K miles. It was a fun car to begin with and plenty of power and torque for a $25,000 car. But I had spent more monies on this crap even more than my 2002 BMW. I ran into the timing chain tensioner guide cracking issue @40K miles which I was lucky it still covered warranty. Many owners were not so lucky but have to pay close to $2,000 after warranty expired. But after Premier Nissan at Fremont, CA fixed it, the air conditioning stopped working. Took it back to Sunnyvale Nissan to get it fixed again. The car interior had some strange rattling sounds which the dealers thought it came from the dash panels and never able to eliminate it.

By wamavrick32000 - February 22 - 10:00 amLove this car! Drives nice, very comfortable, roomy too. Not one thing I dont like about it. I drove Hondas, Toyotas and Buick and really the best car is the Nissan, certainly more car for the money.

Awesome 3.5 V6 - 2005 Nissan Altima
By Lorretta - February 16 - 11:23 pmThe 3.5 V6 Altimas is such an awesome car. I have friends that own BMW, Mercedes, etc., and they compare to their car, and say this Altima is just as good as their automobile. Its pick up is awesome, the comfort & roominess are superb. It is overall better than the Accord, which I also considered. Thanks Nissan for making a great car at such a reasonable price! I am thoroughly enjoying this car.

Great Buy! - 2005 Nissan Altima
By gerschman1 - January 21 - 12:36 pmOriginally I wanted an SE, but one ride in the SE-R changed that! This car is one of those "sleepers" as I like to call them. Roll up next to a pre-05 Mustang at a stop light and you will REALLY suprise them!! All that boy- racer stuff aside, this car is quite comfortable and practical (being a sedan). Great looks, great performance, at a price that beats the competition easily!
