This Year's Model Updates:

The Mercedes-Benz E-Class lineup sees several changes for 2010. The E-Class sedan has been redesigned -- highlights include revised styling, a higher-quality interior and a lower base price. Also, a new coupe body style (it replaces the previous CLK-Class) joins the roster. Lastly, the previously available wagon body style and diesel-fueled V6 engine option have been discontinued, but they are expected to return to the lineup at a later date.

Pros:
  • Superb ride and handling balance, potent engines, extensive array of luxury- and safety-oriented features, first-class cabin appointments, spacious interior.
Cons:
  • COMAND interface is occasionally fussy to use, controversial exterior styling.

Updated review. Car improves with age. Ride is much better, not harsh like other German or soft like Lexus. Very comfortable on long or short trips. Everything works exactly as it should; even A/C is 100+ temps and 90% humidity. Makes me feel great every time I look at it, sit in it and drive it. All of my relatives and friends are greatly impressed by what it offers.

We picked up my wifes E-350 at the factory and enjoyed driving it in Germany & Austria. And the experience is wonderful. The car is very, very tight, confident and comfortable. It was a delight on the autobahns as well as tooling around those tight streets in small bergs. BUT, we found out that the American and Canadian versions have port fuel injection while the European versions have direct injection. So, recommend anyone contemplating a new E, postpone your purchase until the Germans give us just as good technology as they give their own buyers or buy another brand that values us.

Went car shopping 2 weeks ago as my wifes lease on her Jag S type was coming to an end. Went to see the E350 first. Went to BMW, Lexus, Volvo, and finally Jaguar/Audi. Well, we went back this weekend and picked up the E350 sedan. Car is used for business so the coupe was out of the question unfortunately but as 4 door cars go...this is clearly a head- turner. I was disappointed by Jaguar this year as we had actually loved the S type..we liked the old English luxury styling..but this XF..it seems they couldnt make up their minds about the look of the car. Lexus merged into well, another Lexus. Indistinguishable from 100 other cars on the road.Toyota? with a leaper hanging off the trunk.

Loved the appearance of as the new E Class. Test drove the car in Florida where the roads are relatively flat and in good condition. Drove the car to the Midwest where roads are rough. Liked the ride in Fl, dislike the ride in WI. Suspension too stiff on the sport and frankly very noisy on bumpy roads. Tires may be a factor. Liked my C300 ride better! MB must change the suspension or lose customers in the future. I have a three year lease but will try to trade out come fall. Our second car is a 2010 Passat. I rather drive the Passat. Better ride at half the price. Go Figure.

Traded a 2009 BMW 528xi after 4 months for this car. Even in non-sport models, BMWs are still race cars (I dont care what anyone says). Theyre louder, firmer and difficult to drive long distances with one hand. Gets a little tiring. Enter the E550. This is a true luxury car: quiet, smooth, very fast, rides like a dream. Put the suspension and transmission in sport mode and itll take on any BMW. When you calm down again, flip it back to comfort mode and enjoy. Amazing! My wife gave the gas a good stab to pass another car and said she couldnt stop giggling for minutes afterward. This car is seriously fast!

  • Best Car We Have Ever Puchased - 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

My wife and I looked at BMW,Lexus, Audi, Jaguar and Cadillac. We test drove each car twice, on separate occasions. We recommend you doing this. It does talk a lot of time but if you are spending $50,000 plus, we think it is worth the effort. We consider the exterior design, the comfort of the ride, the interior design, the trunk capacity, and the interior noise level. The Mercedes E350 we test drove was our final choice and we are very happy we chose to purchase this vehicle. It is elegant, quiet and very responsive We thought the BMW was a nice car but the ride was not comfortable and the steering stiff. The Lexus was nice, but it did not have the luxury interior we wanted.

  • $45K car for 55K (MSRP) - 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Not up to M-Bs reputation. Nice enough car; ride is not good at low speeds over any road imperfections. Nice at highway speeds. Per M-B and dealer, this is normal. Have to accelerate more going up hill, etc. due to inadequate engine which causes more fuel use. Lumbar is hard to adjust. Hood release hard to find. Underside of parcel shelf in trunk is not covered. Have to jerk spare tire cover out and force it back in. Wiper control hidden by steering sheel spoke making it easy to leave in auto mode. Results in wiper damage in car washes. Carpet and mats are thin compared to even medium priced competitors. Storage box on front of front seats hits back of legs. Interior is well done.

  • Fun Car and Great Appearance - 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

I moved up from a CLK (which I loved) to the E-Coupe 350 2010 and thought they would be comparable. They are not; the E-Coupe is far more advanced. The two optional packages load the car with great technology that is easy to use. I decided not to get the sports package and Im glad I did because the ride is smooth and comfortable without it. My CLK had a hard ride. This E- Coupe is a dream to drive.

  • Do not buy this car! - 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

I bought this car in July 2009. Got 6k miles on it. Went in for service and the dealer did a software update. Now the beautiful led fog lamps dont work at night. Dealer (s) nor Mercedes Benz does not have a fix for this problem! One of the major reasons I bought this car is for those great looking led fog lamps. Car looks ugly without them. I wish Mercedes would refund me some $$$. Or fix the problem faster! Or replace the hardware and stop blaming the software!

  • The New Hammer - 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Purchased in November of 2009 after selling my 2006 BMW 550. MB has finally figured out how to build the driving dynamics of a BMW and package it with a world class drive train and engine. Over the top insanity when you hit the gas and throw the car into a corner. Bottom line the best overall high performance sedan on the market!
