Overview & Reviews
The Mazda CX-7 is a compact crossover SUV with seating for five. Introduced for 2007, it was a refinement on the more utilitarian Tribute and like most newer Mazdas, it has an athletic demeanor. The CX-7 also incorporates most of the elements that continue to make crossovers so popular, including carlike handling, available all-wheel drive and a useful amount of cargo capacity.
Although the CX-7 is fun to drive as crossovers go, its base four-cylinder engine is memorable for its sluggish acceleration and subpar fuel economy. The available turbocharged four-cylinder solves the performance problem, but its fuel economy is even worse. With the efficient CX-5 waiting in the wings, the CX-7 was phased out after the 2012 model year.

There are some issues - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By familyof3 - April 18 - 12:10 pmWe have had this car for a little over 2 years and have 16,000 miles. We need all new tires because this car comes with racing tires which have a life of abut 20,000 miles. Wish I would have known that to save up for the $700 bill. Also my husband has lost his key before but someone turned it into his job. Key design is lousy. The "real" key comes loose too easy. Had 5 recalls which I have never gotten a notice for, just found out through the dealership. Overall we love this car and dont mind the extra $ for gas because we obviously dont drive it a lot. Good family car, love the navi! Could use some better features. road noise is loud, but we just turn up the radio!

LOVE my new CX7! - 2010 Mazda CX-7
By Juraszek - March 25 - 2:16 pmJust got my new CX7 2 weeks ago, and Im already a Mazda convert. I test drove 8 models of various cars before I decided on this one. If you live in an urban area, make sure you get the turbo engine for getting on the freeway. The car is nimble and handles really well. The interior is really nice for the price point as well. I test drove the Rogue, Outback, Forrester, Soul, VW Tiguan, etc. The Mazda blew me away and I wasnt expecting much. It is far and away the best performing vehicle in this class, gas mileage could be a bit better, but Id rather be ALIVE and pay an extra $200 a year in gas money, than be squished beneath a giant truck. Great car, well worth the money!

first car - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By Susan Samhoury - March 20 - 1:56 amFrom the outside it is beatiful. The inside is not bad. When driving on the highway its smooth but if you drive slow it makes a ticking noise, drives me crazy.I asked the dealer and was told that its normal. He explained why but I still think it should run smoother.I cant wait until I can exchange it. I am not so happy with it even though this is the first time a buy a new car. I think the noise should be a lot smoother than it is. I took to the dealer and I had them listen to it and they said it was normal.

Pleasant Surprise - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By Mike - March 17 - 3:16 pmOnly have 500 miles on the vehicle but am really happy with it so far. Over 23 MPG on the first tank of gas. Goes from 60 to 80 in a hurry when on the freeway. Stock stereo is sufficient for most needs and standard features are more than found on most vehicles.

CX7 POOR GAS MILEAGE - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By hiiweare1 - February 20 - 12:13 amGot one 5 days ago. Its fun but I wish the drivers seat came standard with automatic adjustment, its just a little uncomfortable. It may be a four cylinder and turbocharged but Its also like to drink a lot of premium gas.

Cool suv - 2008 Mazda CX-7
By Edsel Argarin - January 26 - 8:13 amLove this car, the power, cornering, braking, passing, it drives like a sports car. Looks good in all angle and the seats are much more comfortable and accelerates/pass better than the pilot with a little bit better mpg.

Zoom Zoom Indeed - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By Mike - January 18 - 4:06 pmNeeded something bigger than a sedan/wagonette, but smaller than SUV/van. Considered Murano, RAV4, Tribeca B9, Acura MDX. RAV4 too small, cheesy inside and jumpy. Tribeca too funky (ugly), poor shifting. For the money, the CX-7 blows the Murano (the most similar comparison), the Acura and even the B9 out of the water. Great deals to be had due to new model vehicle - paid invoice. Touring model is loaded to the gills with leather, Bose sound, sun roof, 18" wheels, great power/handling, traction & stability control, high performance tires, and keyless entry. 5 star crash ratings all around! Costs THOUSANDS less than similarly equipped models above (except RAV4). Mazda has a winner here!

Dead Engine at 37K Miltes - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By Bad Car Bad Service - January 7 - 6:53 amI wish I would have done more research before buying this car. The bad experience at the dealership when purchasing the car should have been my first warning sign. After 2 1/2 years of driving, with no warning (no check engine light, no oil light, no nothing), it is dead. Works one day, the next they say the engine is dead due to improper maintenance (not true) and I need a new engine. No warranty coverage because it wasnt properly maintained (not true). Took 2 weeks for them to tell me they wouldnt cover it. $300 later in rental car expenses, Im still without a car. Thank you Mazda. Customer service and quality...two words that dont go with Mazda. Never again.

Darth Vader Grey GT/AWD with Zoom Zoom - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By NMK - January 2 - 11:33 amKnowing that this vehicle will go when asked, stop when needed and take curves with aplomb, brings joy back to driving. A driver can have ones cake and eat it with both an automatic and a six speed manual transmission all in one. Have owned this vehicle for one month and have put on 1500 miles in all terrain except off road driving. Climbed Mt. Whiteface which was a kick. Driving curvy back roads in the mountains was a hoot. Thruway driving was rock steady too. I look for excuses to go to the store taking the long way around and back.
