Model Overview:

The Mazda CX-7 is a compact crossover SUV with seating for five. Introduced for 2007, it was a refinement on the more utilitarian Tribute and like most newer Mazdas, it has an athletic demeanor. The CX-7 also incorporates most of the elements that continue to make crossovers so popular, including carlike handling, available all-wheel drive and a useful amount of cargo capacity.

Although the CX-7 is fun to drive as crossovers go, its base four-cylinder engine is memorable for its sluggish acceleration and subpar fuel economy. The available turbocharged four-cylinder solves the performance problem, but its fuel economy is even worse. With the efficient CX-5 waiting in the wings, the CX-7 was phased out after the 2012 model year.

  • Surprised at how much I like it - 2007 Mazda CX-7

I purchased this vehicle used, with 38,000 miles on it. I just needed a car to get me through 6-8 months after my husband PCSd with out Jetta and until i could join him. I have to say that I havent had any of the problems with the vehicle that people have mentioned. So far I am really impressed with this little SUV. It has all the space I need and with a baby due in Jan, it will accommodate all the extras and the 72 lb dog without any problems.

  • Piece of crap - 2007 Mazda CX-7

First mazda has a secret recall on the car for the timing gear and chain problem. Then the nut on the turbo came off; this of course is not under warranty. Now the airbag and suspension are being recalled. Just give everyone money back and crush these cars. Want a real turd but one.!

We traded in what was the best car we had ever owned (an 05 Mazda3 hatchback) to get our new CX-7 and what a good trade it was! The 3 is zippy & handles itself well and the CX-7 has the same solid feel, plenty of power and a good feel of the road. It doesnt corner like the 3 but it is smooth through the corners with more than enough power to pleasantly surprise you and the suspension makes for a nicer ride than the 3. Its very comfortable on long rides and the sound proofing has improved. I am very impressed with the power of the 2.3 turbo and am often surprised by the amount of takeoff power there is through the first 3 gears of the 6 speed automatic. And it gets 23 mpg so far! WOW!

  • Love My CX-7! - 2007 Mazda CX-7

Love my CX-7!!This is the most enjoyable care to drive Ive ever owned. Its very responsive. Exactly as the advertised. Feels like a large sports car, and this is what I was looking for. The build is extremely solid. Interior is very nice. It could use a few more luxury accents. All in all very sharp and functional. Some reviewers said ride was too stiff. I find it perfect for me. The engine is so quiet, but when you give it gas, it sounds like a sports car should. Fantastic sound system and acoustics. As far as cargo room. Some say its not very big. Ok, its supposed to be like a large sports vehicle. However, in my recent move, I could easily carry up to 8 large boxes at a time.

  • Another great Mazda - 2007 Mazda CX-7

Ive had several Mazdas through the years, including a Miata and 2 Mazda 3s. Just leased a CX-7 and its another exceptional car/SUV. Fun to drive, excellent engine performance, very modern design inside and out and generally a very enjoyable vehicle.

  • Awesome ride! - 2010 Mazda CX-7

I traded in my BMW X3 for the CX7 Sport with the 4 cylinder engine. I test drove the CRV and the RAV4 and felt the CRV had a very rough ride and the RAV4 didnt appeal to me. My CX7 rides and drives as well as my BMW did and handles great. I went on a road trip today and averaged 28.7 mpg with the A/C on. I am very impressed with the entire package. I love the looks of CX7 and although the 4 cylinder engine might not be "peppy" enough for some, it is perfect for me. I would suggest this vehicle to anyone and am most pleased with my choice.

  • Super! - 2007 Mazda CX-7

I bought the CX-7 touring with AWD, moon roof, 250 watt speakers, and 6 cd changer. Its a fun car, you can take it around the corners with no worries. Its got good handling, great passing power, but the seats after a long drive gets a little uncomfortable. Over all its a super car. I also noticed the engine heats up a little too much some times but not a major problem.

This is the first Mazda I have owned and the third car Ive owned. I was not a fan of Mazda, but after I purchased this car, I am a fan for good. I like my car a lot, I enjoy it. This vehicle is amazing, I plan on adding more performance parts to it. I feel like I am driving a race car.

  • Excellent SUV with a much lesser price - 2008 Mazda CX-7
    By -

I test drove almost all SUV in this segment, Honda CR-V, Toyota Rav4, Nissan Murano, Arura RDX, Lexus 350, Infiniti FX-35 and found this SUV the most attractive one for the money that I paid, this suv is fun to drive with lot of style. It has all the qualities of the luxury SUVs with much lesser price. Only issue is premium gas and low mileage. But overall it is the best in its segment

I love this car. I compared the car to many others, but for the money, you get more in a CX-7 than the competition. The car has a beautiful design and gives great performance.
