Overview & Reviews
The Mazda CX-7 is a compact crossover SUV with seating for five. Introduced for 2007, it was a refinement on the more utilitarian Tribute and like most newer Mazdas, it has an athletic demeanor. The CX-7 also incorporates most of the elements that continue to make crossovers so popular, including carlike handling, available all-wheel drive and a useful amount of cargo capacity.
Although the CX-7 is fun to drive as crossovers go, its base four-cylinder engine is memorable for its sluggish acceleration and subpar fuel economy. The available turbocharged four-cylinder solves the performance problem, but its fuel economy is even worse. With the efficient CX-5 waiting in the wings, the CX-7 was phased out after the 2012 model year.

Very good value; fun to drive - 2008 Mazda CX-7
By LouMonika - May 30 - 1:16 amWe looked at Acadia, RDX, FX35, Rav4, and others. The fully loaded CX-7 was cheapest of the lot, and fuel economy not appreciably lower. Handles as well as my mothers fully loaded RX-350 for 20k less. Leather seats and interior fit and finish and exterior styling are all exceptionally good. A real wow factor on the nav system ergonomics and fold down. Bose stereo is more than adequate. Sunroof a bit small and dont like the "mousehair" ceiling material but they had to cut something I suppose. Was concerned about turbo 4 cyl reliability in out years and we drive cars forever so bought the 10 year extended factory warranty. A great car & joy to drive.

Restored Faith - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By Ladaphun - May 24 - 2:43 amI had a Mazda 626 that I loved but it was quite the lemon after 70k miles. But I took the chance and purchased the CX-7. It was love a first sight. Love driving this vehicle. I can pass anyone on the road and it is so easy to steer and maneuver through out traffic (Houston traffic!) I do have the check engine light problem but it is due to the gas cap coming loose. That is only a small hiccup to me and doesnt bother me as much as everyone else. It is fixable, not a deal breaker people! The fuel economy is average and a lot better than I thought it would be. I get premium fuel every third tank and the engine is fine. I will be purchasing a newer model in the next few yrs

Not A Wonderful Vehicle - 2011 Mazda CX-7
By stantonb1 - May 16 - 1:59 pmBought our CX7 in August 2011 new, vehicle now has 10,000 miles. CX7 is a big disappointment. AC not adequate, turbo hesitates, paint job brilliant black is inferior and gas mileage poor. Complained to Mazda and after BBB intervention Mazda extended the warranty. Trying to sell this vehicle. Just purchased a 2013 Honda CRV base model, because we were not sure we would want to keep it long haul. The Honda is trouble free. AC is wonderful, vehicle is well built and solid. Only have 2,000 miles, but can not say enough positive things about our CRV. The paint job Twilight blue is excellent. The gas mileage is 18 city 30 highway as tracked on computer.

LUV IT! - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By Johany - May 13 - 2:30 pmI just bought this car less than a week ago. I agree with all those who love this car! I was skeptical at first, as I am used to sedans, but the CX7 drives like a sedan and has the convenience of an SUV, without the big price tag or size. The CX7 has standard features that you would expect in higher end cars. As far as turning heads on the road, I cant tell if theyre looking at me or the car! (HA). I highly recommend it!

Really Like It - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By BobD - May 10 - 3:50 pmWe have only had it a couple of weeks, but we really enjoy driving it. Our only issue is the fuel economy (and need for premium) but we knew about it before we bought it and are willing to trade the mileage for the fun. CX-7 is very responsive in most driving situations even in full auto mode. We do worry about risk of tickets while enjoying the CX-7 (even though were over 60).

Love to drive it but its junk - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By binkey - April 30 - 9:50 amI have had the transmission replaxed after 30,000 miles and the keyless entry replaced & thank the lord it was under warranty as well as the transmission. At 25,000 miles I needed new tires even though I rotated them as needed as well as all maintenance thru the dealer. I have always owned GM products & got atleast 40,000 on my tires so what is the deal with that? $800 a bit early. The last straw was a headlight that went out and it was a board that was $850. My milage at this time was 36,500. Too bad for a car I love to drive but will never buy another one & am looking to trade for a GM model. That will be the last foreign car I buy!!

CX-7 Zoom Zoom - 2007 Mazda CX-7

Robust - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By Kitt - April 27 - 5:56 pmI adore this car. The engine is robust and perfectly suited to this vehicle. Thus far, I seem to be getting just about the 24 mpg hwy. that the dealership sticker promised. I feel much safer in the CX-7 than I did in my Protege and prefer the engine to small V-6 engines I have driven. I have had my CX-7 for six months and am extremely pleased with it and have had no major issues with it.

Exciting - 2010 Mazda CX-7
By Bob - April 25 - 3:16 amJust bought and find it to be the most exciting car since my brand new 1964 Austin Healey. Been through a lot of cars between. We are talking style and driving fun. Im certain it will be much more dependable according to everything I have read. Love it inside and out. All talk about seat sizes in back and cargo area are alright since design is so great.
