Overview & Reviews
The Mazda CX-7 is a compact crossover SUV with seating for five. Introduced for 2007, it was a refinement on the more utilitarian Tribute and like most newer Mazdas, it has an athletic demeanor. The CX-7 also incorporates most of the elements that continue to make crossovers so popular, including carlike handling, available all-wheel drive and a useful amount of cargo capacity.
Although the CX-7 is fun to drive as crossovers go, its base four-cylinder engine is memorable for its sluggish acceleration and subpar fuel economy. The available turbocharged four-cylinder solves the performance problem, but its fuel economy is even worse. With the efficient CX-5 waiting in the wings, the CX-7 was phased out after the 2012 model year.

sporty SUV - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By cliffG - October 10 - 8:30 pmThe Mazda CX-7 is a sporty SUV. The turbo hesitation in mine is now a thing of the past. Mazda came out with a service bulletin to correct the turbo lag and the check engine light problem. I just got back from the dealer and the turbo lag is gone it is much smoother on acceleration. Too soon to tell about the check engine light but it is supposed to be fixed to. I really enjoy the handling and looks of this vehicle. MPG has been a bit disappointing. Im hoping this turbo recalibration also helps the MPG (avg. about 16 mpg). Overall if you are looking for a sporty SUV This one is definitely one to consider. Also the lease deals have been much better than on the RAV4 or CR-V.

2008 GT CX-7 AWD - 2008 Mazda CX-7
By ZoomZoom - September 29 - 3:50 amI did not rate reliability since I have only owned the SUV for 1 month or less. The sport tuned drive train/suspension is awesome, really grabs the road. The pick-up (horsepower) is awesome. I got the 6 disc CD, Bose system, which is wonderful. My husband owns a Murano and this SUV blows it away from stand-still starts, but that might be because of the CVT in the Murano. The CX-7 is a bit louder with regards to road noise compared to the Nissan, but much more fun to drive/sportier. Dont be afraid of the 4 cylinder, it rocks. Of course it is going to be louder than most v6 engines due to the turbo. All in all I am very pleased.

thumbs up - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By callmerayz - September 21 - 12:10 pmThus far I am very happy. Especially with the value for to price. A lot for little. Dont like turbo lag. Maybe the 6th gear was not needed? I am having some problems with the automatic jerking while it decides if it should change gears. I hope the dealer will adjust this.

3rd Mazda and Loving It! - 2010 Mazda CX-7
By Ashlee - September 2 - 2:00 amMy husband and I just purchased a new 2010 CX-7 a few days ago and couldnt be happier with it. We traded our 2007 Mazda 6 to get a bigger vehicle. We never had any problems with the 6 and have always been happy with the service we have gotten from Mazda. I love the look and feel of this SUV. I had test drove a 2010 Lexus RX350, and liked the CX-7 a lot more. I am hoping once the car is broken in the MPG will get better. We also own a 2009 Mazda 6 s GT with a V6 in it and that is getting better MPG then the CX-7. Love the backup cam!

DO NOT buy this car - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By jimsands - August 27 - 3:06 amI can only say that I will never buy another Mazda. As much fun as this car is to drive, the thing has had major mechanical problems from the first 20,000 miles, and I mean major problems. Turbo charger replaced twice, transfer case twice, air conditioner moter froze, throttle body died, serpantine belt broke on and on and on.... Thank god I bought the extended warranty.

Do Yourself A Favor and Buy Something Else! - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By Stella Gee - August 22 - 2:36 amPurchased new in March 2007. Constant CELs (check engine lights) from the beginning. I dont drive it much. Has less than 70,000 miles on it almost 10 years later. Just spent $2k repairing timing chain and oil control valve. Has needed prior expensive repairs related to the turbo engine. This is an old car but kept in the garage with VERY low miles. The oil is changed frequently, the maintenance is kept up. It should be a VERY good car at this point but it isnt. You will find yourself with expensive repairs if you buy this car. Researched online and many owners had a blown engine at 60-100K miles. Mazda stopped making them for a good reason. On top of that, whatever the advertised MPG is, is a lie. I get about 250 miles from a full tank of gas. Thats about 16 MPG regardless of freeway or street driving. Yes, its cute but the reality of owning it isnt.

Outstanding performance - 2009 Mazda CX-7
By RaceCarDriver1 - August 20 - 10:06 pmI just bought this CX-7 this month. I am very excited about this SUV. Drives and handles great. Has a turbo 4 cylinder that feels like a V-8. Awesome power, especially when you need that extra boost to get on the freeway, or just changing lanes. The interior feels like a glove. Fully loaded was the way it came. Even have seat warmers and power seats. Has excellent sound system stock with mp3 and media connections. I Drove all the competions SUVs that were in its class, however, this was the best by far for money, performance and style and comfort. Excellent SUV. I am very happy and I got a great deal below invoice!

Surprisingly Good, Zoom-Zoom Crossover - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By Chuck - July 31 - 9:26 amAfter having narrowed the choices to an Acura RDX or a Mazda CX-7, I am very pleased to say that after 6 months and 23k miles, the CX-7 was definitely the choice for me. With its more agressive and sleek exterior design, partnered with a handsome and roomy interior, the CX-7 definitely has the aesthetic advantage to every other crossovers in its class. The turbo-charged engine provides excellent acceleration, with no problems passing on the highway. The agile handling and precise braking on the most curvaceous suburban roads make for an excellent and fun drive, almost making you forget youre driving a crossover.

OMG, what a ride - 2008 Mazda CX-7
By CX-7 ROCKS - July 25 - 9:30 pmI never thought I would buy an SUV, until this came along. The thing handles great and the turbo motor is awesome. The 18" rims are sweet. Wish they were chrome. Seat comfort is good, but I wish they were a little more grippy to go along with the solid handling. I cant say enough about the handling. It is on rails! period. The visibility is excellent, do not need rear view camera. I have garmin nav. much better than optional system. Tons of room up front which is all I care about, feels much roomier than EDGE. Although, premium fuel is recommended instead of required, I dont mind putting 93 octane in it, I feel the power difference between regular.

Do your homework - poor A/C - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By Bill - July 22 - 8:40 pmThis is not a SUV as they claim, it is a car with more headroom. Make sure you check the A/C. Very weak - a 4 cylinder engine is too weak for this car.
