Model Overview:

The Mazda CX-7 is a compact crossover SUV with seating for five. Introduced for 2007, it was a refinement on the more utilitarian Tribute and like most newer Mazdas, it has an athletic demeanor. The CX-7 also incorporates most of the elements that continue to make crossovers so popular, including carlike handling, available all-wheel drive and a useful amount of cargo capacity.

Although the CX-7 is fun to drive as crossovers go, its base four-cylinder engine is memorable for its sluggish acceleration and subpar fuel economy. The available turbocharged four-cylinder solves the performance problem, but its fuel economy is even worse. With the efficient CX-5 waiting in the wings, the CX-7 was phased out after the 2012 model year.

  • Fun to drive, love the cornering action - 2007 Mazda CX-7

I find myself begging the wife for the driver seat every time we get in the car. The responsive handling is what I like the most compared to the sluggish Toyota we had before. The Tiptronics feels and acts kinda like a BMW, firm and in control. Cornering is especially reassuring. I hardly need to press brakes on curvy mountain roads. The build interior and exterior feels solid.

  • Best Car Ever - 2007 Mazda CX-7

This car is great. I am 6ft 3in and am mor that comfertable in this car. My wife who is 5ft 4in loves it as well. It is easy to load the kids up in it and go anywhere. I live in the North West and we have had record snow fall the last 2 years and have had not 1 problem with it. Every where we take it people ask what kind of car it is and are amazed at the space. In the snow this car is the best we where able to take it up snowbording several times and it held all of our gear and 5 adults for the 2 hr drive and never got stuck. I am very protective of my wife and kids and would never let them get in an unsafe car after reading consumer reports and other magazines I had to but this car

  • MY CX-7 - 2010 Mazda CX-7

My CX-7 was in an accident which blew out both of my left tires. I did not even feel a jerk during the whole collision. My 2 yr old daughter and wife were also in the car and none of them felt anything except a loud noise. The CX-7 proved itself to be an excellent choice. It is rock solid SUV that handles extremely well and shows well.

  • Crappy Vehicle...dont buy one - 2007 Mazda CX-7

This has been the worst vehicle I have ever owned. I tell everyone to stay away from it. Poor Quality Interior, lots of mechanical problems, terrible gas mileage. The dealership I have been using has no competent technicians - parts have fallen off after servicing. Will be going Honda or Toyota next time.

  • Beauty is only skin deep - 2007 Mazda CX-7

Love the styling, big wheels, turbo engine, only had to return once for minor issues. Dislike premium gas, jerky shifting, poor sight lines, poor fuel economy, dash hard to see for shorter driver.

  • I Love It!! - 2007 Mazda CX-7

This really is an awesome car! I test drove almost all other SUVs on market like it, and the CX-7 was my favorite. So MPG isnt great, but for the SUVs on the market today, I am not surprised. The Mazda CX-7 is fun to drive and the performance is great. I sold my old Lexus GS-300 (Ill admit it was the first model made back in the 90s) and bought this car, and I am not disappointed in the performance or the handling. The AWD is a must for snow conditions and traction control is a nice feature. Had to get 3 recalls done, but I got a letter in the mail telling me I needed to, and they were paid for. Never had a problem with reliability. Great car!

  • Engine Failure CX7 @ 70K miles - 2008 Mazda CX-7
    By -

We bought a Certified CX7 2008. A year and a half later the car is completely giving out. We take MAJOR care of all our cars with Synthetic Oil, so when they told us it was due to "Sludge" it was definitely a slap in the face. The engine needs to be replaced at only 70k miles. We talked to a mechanic and he told us that the turbo overhearts the engine turning everything into sludge and even melting it. Although we have a platinum coverage, the insurance is doing everything they can to blame it on us. Ive been looking at reviews and it seems ALOT of you are having or had the same issues! Its horrible to keep paying for a car whose engine dies of its own malfunction. Its time Mazda owns up!

  • Love it so Far - 2007 Mazda CX-7

Had the vehicle for about 2 weeks. Sold a Lincoln LS-V8. Love the cornering capability of the Mazda. I wanted the cargo capability of an SUV, but didnt want to sacrifice handling. I have not been disappointed. Over 40 with kids still at home, so comfort for trips was also a concern.

  • Fun car to drive but too many issues. - 2008 Mazda CX-7
    By -

I will edit this review with details; in a nut shell, it is very fun to drive, good steering and suspension response on all kind of roads. It is agile and has road holding that is better than all of its rivals. Its brakes are also impressive and despite they are little difficult to dose, stopping distance is beautiful. I am 67" and I fit inside comfortably. Actually, I have a friend who owns an BMW X6 and a 2010 CX-7 and he likes dynamics of CX-7 more than X6. His words are "CX-7 is like extension of my body, obeys all my orders perfectly".
