Overview & Reviews
The Mazda CX-7 is a compact crossover SUV with seating for five. Introduced for 2007, it was a refinement on the more utilitarian Tribute and like most newer Mazdas, it has an athletic demeanor. The CX-7 also incorporates most of the elements that continue to make crossovers so popular, including carlike handling, available all-wheel drive and a useful amount of cargo capacity.
Although the CX-7 is fun to drive as crossovers go, its base four-cylinder engine is memorable for its sluggish acceleration and subpar fuel economy. The available turbocharged four-cylinder solves the performance problem, but its fuel economy is even worse. With the efficient CX-5 waiting in the wings, the CX-7 was phased out after the 2012 model year.

Lexus look with Mazda price! - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By flynnski - August 28 - 7:20 pmThis is a great midsize SUV for the money. I trust Mazdas engineering as Ive owned Mazdas in the past and the car drives extremely well. The car handles quite nicely and despite it being a 4 cylinder, the turbo more than makes up for it not being a v6. It is comfortable for all riders and the back area, while not huge, is ample for groceries, luggage and all the other thing you typically haul.

Like the Mazda... - 2011 Mazda CX-7
By simply_m - August 13 - 5:36 amWife wanted a new ride and liked the styling of the cx7. Felt like the price was good for the amount of car we were getting. Liked the fact that it is totally built in Japan ( the Japanese are known to take pride in their workmanship). Read customer reviews and was scared by all the turbo engine problems,so stayed away from it. The standard engine is not bad and avg 24 mpg with mixed city/country road driving. Drives solid but slightly bumpy. After 15,000 miles my main complaint is the transmission. I just dont like the way it hesitates to downshift after slowing down. I havent had any problems so far. Only regret is small interior with two kids. Price to pay though for decent fuel economy

Turbo gone!!!! - 2008 Mazda CX-7
By nichele - August 9 - 5:02 pmI bought my 2008 CX7 with almost 5k miles. I really enjoyed driving it....until the timing chain had to be replaced at at 40000 miles, which I thought was a little soon but it was covered. About a year ago, I had to have the engine mount replaced, some bearings were worn and there was an oil leak. That was not covered over $1000 worth of repairs. The CEL came on over the weekend. Took it to the dealer ,turbo engine done....timing chain again, The car needs almost 9000 dollars worth of repairs..are you kidding me!!! The service rep told me that I did good for having 95k miles on the car without anyhing major happening before now. Going to get rid of this car!!!

Nice Vehicle But Some Issues - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By Ironton215 - August 6 - 6:56 pmThis is my first Mazda. I purchased it because it is a very nice looking vehicle and it fits my family, which includes three in car seats. After purchasing the CX-7 I noticed several things that have slightly reduced my opinion of the vehicle. The fuel economy is not very good and premium fuel is required. From the interior the engine noise and heat is very noticible. The transmission shifts oddly back and forth between fifth and sixth gear at times. Suspension is very stiff. Turbo lag. Many "nice to haves" missing - no bluetooth, no navigation software support between Mazda and Navteq, no extra functions such as MPG in the display, no iPod ability with nav. sys., etc. A-pillar blind spot!!

Its an ok SUV - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By Lissette - August 2 - 10:03 pmI bought my Mazda CX7 in 2007 and I regret it. Less than 1 year my Air compressor Blew. Then the AC after the year in January of 2009 It doesnt work now that the warranty is up, I have to pay. I took it to Mazda 1 wk after the Manufacturer Warranty was up, they said they couldnt help me. Oh by the way do not get the tire protection, its a waste of money they say that all mazda dearlers accept the assignment, NOT. I had to pay out of pocket. Couldnt do anything about it because dealership closed.

Just Got Mine - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By Andy F - July 24 - 3:43 pmI have always had a family car, van, sedan etc. This one I bought for me...okay the wife too. I have had it only for the weekend now. Without the expletives, its FUN! The handling is great, someone said low end power not good, what? This is peppy. I drove the Murano also, which is really what I intended to get, but after test driving this, WOW, this one made the impact on me. I love this car, put 200 miles on it in 2 days. Any reason to go to the store, I go, even if its just for toothpicks. I know this is not a technical review. I too can not stop looking at it, its a head turner, I like watching people when the first see it, DOUBLE TAKE! Love turning those heads.

MDX and X3 saw my rear end - 2010 Mazda CX-7
By jerseyboy5 - July 22 - 3:46 amTook delivery on 10/1, drove it for 3 hours. Acceleration is solid and interior is better than most cars selling for $50K+. Reminds me of the Audi Sedans. WARNING: Rear visibility is poor for first time drivers. Do not play with the stereo buttons at night time, too many buttons to play with. Gas mileage driving @ 80-85mph seems to be around 20-21 mpg. Had my first Mazda in 1991 gave it to my sister in 1995, she drove it til 2003, 150K miles. Mazda engine reputation is solid.

Zoom Zoom Zoom Indeed! - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By Debra Sullivan - July 9 - 3:20 amI have owned four SUVs to date and love the versatility but wanted something a little smaller and sportier. I looked at the Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4 and Nissan Murano but none of these compare to my beautiful copper mica CX-7. I get compliments from people all the time which has never happened before, with the exception of tooling around in my little 1991 Miata of course. This car handles like a sportscar, is very roomy and takes off like I cant believe! I actually have to be careful when accelerating because it has a LOT of power for a 4-cylinder engine. I put the back seats down with the push of a button and make room for the dogs. Sound system is AMAZING.

Never buying a Mazda again. - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By kmdw - July 3 - 10:39 amMy wife bought her CX-7 used with around 40,000 miles. Timing chain broke at 60,100 miles. No check engine light until car actually stopped running (in passing lane on busy interstate). Mazda is replacing the engine right now, no questions asked, despite her not being able to find all her oil change receipts. I suppose we have to thank everyone else before us who had this problem and complained, otherwise wed be in the same boat. This thing apparently develops other problems that we dont want to to have to deal with, so as soon as its fixed, were trading it in!!!
