Overview & Reviews
The Mazda CX-7 is a compact crossover SUV with seating for five. Introduced for 2007, it was a refinement on the more utilitarian Tribute and like most newer Mazdas, it has an athletic demeanor. The CX-7 also incorporates most of the elements that continue to make crossovers so popular, including carlike handling, available all-wheel drive and a useful amount of cargo capacity.
Although the CX-7 is fun to drive as crossovers go, its base four-cylinder engine is memorable for its sluggish acceleration and subpar fuel economy. The available turbocharged four-cylinder solves the performance problem, but its fuel economy is even worse. With the efficient CX-5 waiting in the wings, the CX-7 was phased out after the 2012 model year.

Just bought it two days ago - 2008 Mazda CX-7
By Myshkin - December 21 - 9:53 amWe just picked up our CX-7 a couple of days ago. For the last couple of years I have been looking at the Mazda 6, but after driving the CX-7 I was smitten. If you are considering this vehicle, I would skip the tech package. You can get after-market GPS for a fraction of the price, and in a few years when current tech is outdated you can easily upgrade. Not so if your GPS is built it. The Bose stereo is nice enough though. Only GT feature I might have liked would be the cool blue lighting and the auto-climate control, but neither were deal-breakers for me.

Just What I Wanted - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By Andres Centonzio - December 19 - 7:03 pmIs quite a beauty, drive it. Is elegant, sexy & sport. Is the type of SUV that is not monster big like a Ford F150 or small like a Jeep, the size is perfect. The price is nice for the good vehicle you get.

Lifes Good - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By Philip Laughlin - December 17 - 4:43 amI traded my 2004 Acura TSX because I test drove the CX-7. I was willing to make the extra payments because of the feel. Still getting used to the idea of an SUV but it drives like a car.

Loving My CX7 (NOT) - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By Loving my CX-7 (Not) - December 11 - 10:00 amWell its me again and it looks as though the same problems everyone has endured with their Mazda, I am encountering also. In July I purchased my CX7 with 33,000 mi I was oh so pleased! In October my AC Compressor went out, Thank God I purchased the extended warranty. The whole compressor had to be replaced. I am so desperately trying to trade this car in, cause it looks like a host of problems is in my future. I have been told that it is only worth 10-14,000 when I paid 19,000, Wow! Mazda should be ashamed of themselves producing such a problem! I will have to take a HUGE lost, but whatever it takes to get out of this one, I will do!

Good drive - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By gmopsman - November 20 - 4:43 pmI love the drive so far. It is very responsive and fun to drive. The gas mileage on the first tank in the Washington DC area was 20 miles per gallon. The rear should have vents for the passengers. I would also like to see heated mirrors as an option. The navigation system is great to use. The throttle took some minor getting used to. The transmission shifting is the best I have experienced.

Excellent SUV, minor complaints - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By Jim - November 17 - 7:10 amThis is my 3rd Mazda and they keep getting better! I love the styling and terrific value the CX7 represents. Plenty of room and the motor pulls this rig beautifully, especially on mountain roads. Have experienced very minor turbo lag and the 6-speed AT is wonderful, absolutely no need for a V6. This car is a cross-over, not a truck so it must be judged accordingly. For a car its wonderful, for an SUV it serves all my needs. Finally someone came out with an SUV a guy like me can use. Dont need a truck? This is your rig! Modern, well developed cross-over SUV.

nice crossover you didnt know about! - 2008 Mazda CX-7
By ak, Seattle - October 29 - 2:30 pmWe didnt think about it until we decided we needed a roomy, sporty, sedan-looking SUV/crossover with superb safety features, incl AWD (Seattle) and actually test-drove it. This car has all those things and what a joy to drive! Although you do hear some engine and wind in the cabin, but some, and you cant hear the traffic/road noise. Amazing brakes/acceleration! Roomy enough, although the back seats are not as comfy as the front. Nice styling; interior could use better materials. Test-drive it! Not sure if people who complain test-drove it first, knew of mpg. Rav4=cavernous/dark/plastic;CRV=underpowered; Forester=comfy back seats, as much room; uncomfortable front; sluggish as the Rogue

2008 Mazda CX7 AWD - 2008 Mazda CX-7
By Joe Cafaro - October 28 - 4:00 amWe own a 2008 Lexus RX350 as well as this CX7. The CX costs almost one half the as much as the Lexus. I cannot justify the difference. The CX7 is THE VALUE proposition. Ride, handling, comfort, and its pep are truly outstanding. The CX7 runs well on regular gas but fuel economy is a serious disappointment. Mazda with all its talent MUST come up with a fuel efficient engine for this otherwise superior offering. The Bose surround sound system is an absolute must. Still a better value than the Lexus even considering the poor fuel economy. With better fuel efficiency while maintaining the peppy, fun to drive experience, this crossover would lead all competitors. Fit and finish are excellent
