Overview & Reviews
The Mazda CX-7 is a compact crossover SUV with seating for five. Introduced for 2007, it was a refinement on the more utilitarian Tribute and like most newer Mazdas, it has an athletic demeanor. The CX-7 also incorporates most of the elements that continue to make crossovers so popular, including carlike handling, available all-wheel drive and a useful amount of cargo capacity.
Although the CX-7 is fun to drive as crossovers go, its base four-cylinder engine is memorable for its sluggish acceleration and subpar fuel economy. The available turbocharged four-cylinder solves the performance problem, but its fuel economy is even worse. With the efficient CX-5 waiting in the wings, the CX-7 was phased out after the 2012 model year.

Mazda CX 7 Review - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By VBM - April 20 - 12:03 pmThis my first new Mazda. After extensively comparing BMW X3, Infiniti FX35 and Acura RDX, we choose the CX 7. From a value & performance standpoint, this car offered more then ones we compared to. Got the Grand Touring fully loaded with Tech package with NAV and premium Bose audio.

Awesome crossover - 2010 Mazda CX-7
By carter - April 5 - 12:43 amThis SUV is one really good value for the money. It has great performance that provides excellent acceleration. Its very comfortable and the seats are very well put together. They have withstood my 6 year old child and all of his spills and damages. The SUV could have better fuel economy, but its better then most American crossovers. My Mazda is my favorite car that I have owned, and I have been through quite a bit of cars. My entire family loves how the car looks and what the inside looks like. The build quality is great too. Since I havent had it very long, I dont know its reliability but Im sure it will last me a very long time. Thanks Mazda

Best Car Purchase - 2012 Mazda CX-7
By bheft2012 - April 2 - 12:12 pmMy husband and I just upgraded to an SUV and have been searching and shopping for over 6 months. I saw this car on the lot and it was so beautiful I had to test drive it, I didnt care about the price. I drove it and WOW, rides beautifully! The comfort of a luxury SUV for a reasonable price. I drive an hour and a half total to work everyday and I get great MPG! We bought it with 65k miles on it and we havent noticed any big issues or little issues. It takes turns sharp and clean, accelerates amazing for having a 4 cylinder engine. I feel like I have a 6 cylinder engine for the mpg and price of a 4 cylinder. My family and friends love riding with me, they always choose my car for carpool!

Bought it and LOVE it!! - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By CX7Fan - April 1 - 4:13 amI purchased my CX-7 in April of 2007. I absolutely love this vehicle. It is fun to drive, comfortable, and I get pretty "decent" gas milage. I live in Texas, so the summer did persuade me to have the windows tinted as it was a roasting oven. Others on the road do not realize the acceleration, handling capabilities, and speed that it has as a Turbo injected vehicle. I love it. I look forward to purchasing the CX-9 late this year too. The one issue that I am having with it is the clicking noise during "hard" accelerations. I was told it was because I was using mid-grade gas. Since switching to high-grade, I occasionally get the noise, mostly when over 95 degree outside.

Reliable Mid Size SUV - Almost Perfect - 2010 Mazda CX-7
By phoenix131281 - March 31 - 6:16 pmMazda has got it right. CX-7 is a reliable compact SUV. Drive feels solid. Much work & thought has been done on the interiors. Very well placed buttons. Good Cargo space. I have owned the car for 3 weeks and it is a pleasure to drive the car.

zoom zoom :) - 2010 Mazda CX-7
By Andrew - March 13 - 4:53 amSpent a lot of time reading reviews before purchase. This thing is flat out fun to drive. It may not be a sports car or be the fastest thing on the road but the 2.5 motor WILL get out of its own way. There is plenty of get up and go for my liking. The ride is a little stiff, but thats a nice trade off for how well this thing handles in the corners :) There is very little body roll. The gas mileage is decent, 23-24 so far with my average driving and better on the highway. The seats are little hard but more I sit in it, the more I like it. And the CX-7 is got great curb appeal. Nicest vehicle Ive owned yet, and Ive owned a few.

Worst Car Ive yet to own! - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By mtbrider1 - March 4 - 6:59 amHmmm.... lets see.... how many people have had happen the EXACT same thing as I have--Bad VVT causing timing chain stretch? Started to happen at 62k miles and thus Mazda is not standing behind the car. Luckily I caught it before it caused a snapped chain and ruined engine. Timing chains are supposed to last MUCH longer, and yet Mazda acts like it is a rare occurrence. I also struggled with the turbo lag. At first I fooled myself into thinking that it was normal for a turbo-until I owned a TDI Jetta--not even close. The unsettling lag and then surge in power at times was almost comical. The longer we owned it, the less an less we liked this car--sold it off for a new Subaru!

In the Beginning - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By S Gloshen - February 28 - 7:50 amGetting in and out of the vehicle has been made very user friendly with the use of the advanced keyless entry. Walk up to the vehicle open the door, get in, and start the vehicle without any key. The CX-7 is very responsive in the throttle and in the steering. Thus far I enjoy this more than my 2005 BMW 330Xi as far as space, entry, creature comforts, versatility of options, & of course riding at elevation. With the sport transmission, getting from 0-60 is more than quick enough. The ride on the 18s is just right. Handles like a sports car and takes road imperfections like a luxury. This vehicle is spirited and insightful.

Poor Quality - 2011 Mazda CX-7
By greats32 - February 15 - 1:06 pmI purchased my CX7 the day before Thanksgiving last year. Overall I am not impressed with this vehicle. It has already spent a total of three weeks in the shop because of air conditioning issues as well as electrical issues. For this vehicle not even being a year old I am VERY disappointed to see the plastic lenses getting cloudy on the head lights. This is something I would expect from a 8 to 10 year old vehicle. When I asked the dealer about it I was told this is normal. This vehicle practically lives in a garage, while at home it’s parked in the garage, and when I am at work it is parked in the underground parking – never really sitting out in direct sun light enough
