Overview & Reviews
The Mazda CX-7 is a compact crossover SUV with seating for five. Introduced for 2007, it was a refinement on the more utilitarian Tribute and like most newer Mazdas, it has an athletic demeanor. The CX-7 also incorporates most of the elements that continue to make crossovers so popular, including carlike handling, available all-wheel drive and a useful amount of cargo capacity.
Although the CX-7 is fun to drive as crossovers go, its base four-cylinder engine is memorable for its sluggish acceleration and subpar fuel economy. The available turbocharged four-cylinder solves the performance problem, but its fuel economy is even worse. With the efficient CX-5 waiting in the wings, the CX-7 was phased out after the 2012 model year.

I LOVE THIS SUV! - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By Amy - June 6 - 11:53 amI bought the CX-7 in April and absolutely love it!! It is the perfect combination of a car and SUV. I was used to driving a two door Honda Civic and was able to change over to the CX-7 very easily. It drives just like a car but offers the comforts of an SUV such as the roomier interior and higher ride. I love it!!

Do your homework - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By fmrgi - June 3 - 9:26 amI fell in love with this car when I saw it. Car is fun to drive but the ride is a bit stiff. Gas mileage is horrible for 4 cyl and the turbo lag is there. Sound system and tech package are as good as luxury cars. Had a problem with the rear brakes making a grinding noise. Dealer added a mod and it fixed the problem. Had (and still do) a problem with the door checks being noisy. Dealer has no solution, they already replaced them with new ones and the problem still exists.

From a 350Z to a CX-7 - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By CO_Dawg - May 13 - 10:10 amI love this car. I just purchased this car and was not looking forward to going back to an SUV (traded in a 350Z). The performance and handling made trading in the old Z a little more tolerable. Test drove most of the competition and the CX-7 beat them all hands down.

Never would expect it - 2010 Mazda CX-7
By Gerry - May 12 - 11:16 amMy wife and I went out and searched the usual crossovers. Toyota, Honda, Subaru, Chevy, and GMC were all good cars, but when we slipped behind the wheel of the Mazda CX-7 we were sold! This car beats the others hands down in quality, performance, and style. The biggest part that sold us on it, however, was the technology. Navigation, back-up camera, Bluetooth for hands-free calling... even the Bose stereo sounded better than all the competition. We are not "hard-core" off-roaders so the sleek metro styling and clean design made it a great choice over some other "poser" crossovers. I am very impressed with this car.

Very Pleased - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By Joanne - May 11 - 10:13 pmI am very pleased with my CX-7. The drive, handling, features, etc. are amazing. I was also in an accident recently, and the CX-7 handled the drivers-side side impact very well (I walked away with NOTHING wrong - I wasnt even sore days later). I was hit by a big work van, and there was $5000 worth of damage to my CX-7. I am beyond pleased with the CX-7 and would recommend it to anyone looking for a new car.

7 month owner - 2010 Mazda CX-7
By tonyr5 - May 10 - 9:55 pmThe biggest negatives I can find with the cx7 is the back seat needing more leg room, my a/c isnt the coldest, and when blower is on 3+ it is loud, the ac vents could be a little bigger for more air blow, the black material seats and black thruout the car is very hard to keep clean w/dust particles, and the hard plastic material in the back hatch scratches very easy, and the loud engine when accelerating, head room is a little low, and low ceiling when loading larger items in the back hatch & could use a little more open console room. the pros are it is really comfortable to drive on long trips, turning capablility in a parking spot is awesome, solid ride, decent gas milage on the hwy.

Hard driver, long commuter - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By long commuter - May 1 - 10:33 amMy 3rd new Mazda but all the local dealerships closed. Love the cx7 and I was worried about the reliability of the turbo but it holds up well. No problems out of mine other than front tire wear due to bad alignment. People complaining about turbo lag should learn to use the manual shift mode when you are starting or passing- keeping the engine in the rpm range of the turbo eliminates the lag, and few cars can keep up with this thing when it is in its turbo range (around 3500-4500 rpm). If you keep your foot out of the turbo you can get 22-24 mpg after the engine is broken in, I average about 20 due to my faster driving style and quick starts.

Cold Water on CX-7 - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By CDT - May 1 - 3:40 amThis is a very annoying vehicle. It was the first one delivered in the area and no doubt has some new model quirks, but that does not explain a vehicle delivered with major misalignment that scrubbed the first tires in 10k miles, nor the turbo lag, nor the awful gas mileage (17-19 in almost all country driving), nor the terrible handling in snow (except straight ahead), nor the brakes that went metal to metal in 20k miles. Its pretty and fun on dry curvy roads, but overall it is a loser and will not be bought or repeated at lease end.

Fun to Drive - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By mrvic - April 26 - 7:10 amHave had the CX-7 for about a little over a week now. The gas mileage is still to be determined. The transmission has a mind of its own sometimes and gets a little confused what gear it should be in. I have FWD, and driving in heavy rain with water ponding on the roadway is a little challenging, the front tires seem to have a mind of their own at times.
