Overview & Reviews
The Mazda CX-7 is a compact crossover SUV with seating for five. Introduced for 2007, it was a refinement on the more utilitarian Tribute and like most newer Mazdas, it has an athletic demeanor. The CX-7 also incorporates most of the elements that continue to make crossovers so popular, including carlike handling, available all-wheel drive and a useful amount of cargo capacity.
Although the CX-7 is fun to drive as crossovers go, its base four-cylinder engine is memorable for its sluggish acceleration and subpar fuel economy. The available turbocharged four-cylinder solves the performance problem, but its fuel economy is even worse. With the efficient CX-5 waiting in the wings, the CX-7 was phased out after the 2012 model year.

Great Car...I mean SUV - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By Nole795 - December 4 - 1:30 pmI have had this SUV for about three weeks and it is a great ride. I got the Black Cherry Mica with two toned sandy leather...sweet. I got it for $300 over invoice. In the market for a small SUV (RAV4, CR-V) took the CX-7 for a test and we were hooked. My last car was a Mazda, and it was very reliable. It had never seen the inside of a service center. CX-7 has a smooth ride, the only problem was the check engine light came on due to a faulty gas cap which is going to be recalled. Dont let the 4 cylinder fool you, this ride is swift. It is roomy & my pregnant wife could not be happier.

This SUV Rocks! - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By Dan - December 1 - 9:20 pmI traded a V8 Ford Explorer that had tranny issues. I was looking for something smaller, reliable and more fuel efficient. I was concerned about giving up the power of the V8 but after one test drive I was hooked. I didnt really care to much for the FWD because of the torque steer when you get on the gas so I opted for the AWD. The AWD is seamless and well worth the extra $$$. I purchased the Touring addition with leather but really didnt want to pay for a bunch of features that I would never use in my daily drive to and from work.

love the car but ive had problems! - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By paula - December 1 - 4:50 amI love my Mazda CX-7, but ive had a ton of problems with it. Ive had to replace the Air Conditioner, Turbo, Power train belt and a few censors. I was told there is a problem with the turbo and pvc? system but they dont have a fix for the pvc system. Mazdas are known for bad turbos and A/C ... so think twice before you buy a Mazda. I love this car, but my next car will not be a Mazda!

Would not buy again - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By Halfaford - November 26 - 12:30 pmReplaced the turbo after 16,000 miles & brake rotors cut down at 17,000. All covered under warranty but still shouldnt happen. Gas mileage is TERRIBLE. As long as the turbo doesnt kick in (which w/the 4 cyl. it always does) Im getting 12.5 MPG. This is NOT a car for aggressive drivers! Doesnt handle well on corners, lots of roll. With Premium gas only, I spend $400+ a month just driving to work. (6 days at 70 MPD)Trading it in after a year!

Must test drive - 2009 Mazda CX-7
By George - November 22 - 6:56 amI have owned over 30 cars throughout my life. This is one of the most fun i have ever had in a car. Lived in Germany for five years and wished i had the CX-7 for the autobahn. The seat bottoms in the front seats are a little short. They may have fixed this for 2010.

Engine problems - 2009 Mazda CX-7
By bmjdlj - November 19 - 11:23 amI saw no review about the VVT problem that is part of the CX7. This can be a very serious problem. To having the entire engine replaced. Symptoms: engine makes ticking/clacking noise when running and loud snap upon start up. My first trip to dealership was brushed off. Second trip, doing repairs.

Disappointed - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By Disappointed - November 19 - 9:16 amMy CX-7 has been a huge disappointment. I knew about the gas but did not realize I could ONLY use premium if I did not want the engine to knock. Cheap interior and no temp gauge. Have had it in the shop a lot and now with less than 14000 miles I am having to buy an expensive special order set of tires. No more Mazdas for me.

Mazda CX-7 specs - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By CaptainKitchen - October 30 - 12:53 pmIts a cool car, but there are a few features missing that I wish would be in the car. Tiny thing, but the tiny things make all the difference. First off, theres no ash tray, no light for the mirror in the visor, no MP3 hookup, no light in the glove compartment, the doors dont automatically lock after starting the car and driving. Again, small things, but things that add up. It drives really well and you can adjust the driver seat to sit high feeling like an SUV or low feeling more like a sports car. The rear camera is awesome as is the keyless entry and keyless ignition.

So Disappointed!! - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By Annie - October 23 - 8:33 pmWas so excited when I got a great deal on this car. I have been disappointed on the performance since that day. I am averaging 15-16 miles per gallon, and It takes premium gas!! Ouch!! The car feels like its trying too hard all the time. The transmission light has come on twice now, and they are upgrading a computer as I write this review. Lets see what happens. Also no outside temperature on the Sport model. Whats with that??

Great Car a Little Thirsty - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By jimisurf - October 18 - 9:36 amI have been very happy with the CX-7. I have tried most of the competition and given the interior, exterior styling and the driving performance the CX-7 has them beat hands down. The only complaint I have thus far (@ only 500 miles) is that the gas mileage has been low. I know it will get better as the engine is broken in. Im not at all dissatisfied though. You are going to pay for performance somewhere or you can drive something boring. Have fun, drive a CX-7!
