Model Overview:

The Mazda CX-7 is a compact crossover SUV with seating for five. Introduced for 2007, it was a refinement on the more utilitarian Tribute and like most newer Mazdas, it has an athletic demeanor. The CX-7 also incorporates most of the elements that continue to make crossovers so popular, including carlike handling, available all-wheel drive and a useful amount of cargo capacity.

Although the CX-7 is fun to drive as crossovers go, its base four-cylinder engine is memorable for its sluggish acceleration and subpar fuel economy. The available turbocharged four-cylinder solves the performance problem, but its fuel economy is even worse. With the efficient CX-5 waiting in the wings, the CX-7 was phased out after the 2012 model year.

  • I LOVE this vehicle! - 2007 Mazda CX-7

This vehicle is almost as fun to drive as my Audi A4, but since its an SUV, it is way more practical for everyday life. The turbo charged engine gives me plenty of passing power. The interior is beautiful and all the controls are in easily accessible places. Plenty of storage capacity, and the one-touch fold down rear seats are a real time saver. I HIGHLY recommend this vehicle to anybody who needs the functionality of an SUV, but doesnt want to have to give up the speed and handling of a sports sedan. Also, it has really held its value; I was upside-down when I purchased it, but after only 2-1/2 years I would be able to make a small profit if I sold it to a private party. WOW! :)

  • An easy transition to an SUV! - 2007 Mazda CX-7

I love my Mazda. I traded my 01 Honda Civic for my 07 Mazda-- going to the family car. I wanted something with room but, would still drive like a car.Overall, I am very happy with my purchase and feel like I got my moneys worth. High safety ratings, looks great, inside is well designed and roomy, you will get lots of compliments! :)

  • Love my baby!! - 2008 Mazda CX-7

I purchased a 2008 CX7 in Oct 2012. 3 days after purchasing it I too had white smoke coming from the exhaust. I returned it to the dealership and they fixed it with no questions asked. Other than that, like everyone else, the gas consumption is a little low but it also depends on how you drive. If your always driving like a bat out of hell then of course your gas consumption will be less than someone takes their time or goes a slow, steady speed. The interion is comfortable (sometimes I feel like Im in a cockpit in a spaceship lol). The back is very roomy and everyone says they love it back there. This is my first SUV so I ma love, love, loving sitting higher. Great purchase so far.

  • Great Crossover for the Money - 2008 Mazda CX-7

Leased this 2008 CX7 after looking at Chevy Equinox, Ford Edge and Murano. Mazda offered best value for the money. 2008 edition can take regular unleaded which is what we use however the performance and turbo really needs premium gas. At $4 plus a gallon, we will use regular unleaded and loose some performance. Moonroof and Bose stereo with power seats is terrific. A fun car to drive. Im not tall but I wish the headroom was a little higher. Sometimes feel a little tight with near the sun visors.

Terrible in winter conditions; poor visibility; safety belt signals 30x for front passenger if you so much as have a briefcase on the seat; really dim driving lights (I have to use my high beams as much as possible).

  • So far so good, could be better - 2008 Mazda CX-7

I was looking for a great value crossover vehicle. I was eyeing the Audi Q5 but it wont come out until late 2009. So I shopped around and compared different makes. The CX7 by far is the closest to the Audi specs. I got the sport version (no leather seats & moonroof).

  • Compact SUV that is fun to drive - 2008 Mazda CX-7

Ive enjoyed my first month of owning my new CX-7. It is a beautiful vehicle and it has carried me through 6" of snow and a blinding rainstorm already. I test drove many other vehicles in this category but the Mazda was, by far, the most fun to drive. That consideration was not at the top of my priority list, but its superiority there outshined some of the smaller disadvantages. One thing I wish I had known was just how poor the gas mileage is. My vehicle is returning 13mpg in the city and about 19 mpg on the highway. Im not even sure how a 4 cyl engine can possibly return such poor numbers. I recommend the vehicle with the caveat that you must be willing to accept poor gas mileage.

My Mazda at first take off, feels like Im riding over rocks in the road. Ive always liked the body of the Mazda cx-7, but the interior isnt as roomy as Id like and I also wanted the interior to be cloth, but not the kind that if drop something on it it would be difficult to clean. The gas mileage I was hoping it would be better than 19 in town. The handling of the car around curve is very stiff and feels very dangerous to me and driving in the rain is very dangerous to me as well, it doesnt handle on the road very well in the rain.

  • I will think twice! - 2007 Mazda CX-7
    By -

I will think twice before I buy this car again. Tires were junk!! Lasted less than 23000 miles..what a rip off! After replacing with awesome Bridgestones...ride and traction is sooo much better. Within a few months a driving has to have the front end worked on...leaking front differential needed to be replaced as well as the drive shaft. I feel like I was the one who got the shaft! I am just waiting for something else to fall apart!
