Overview & Reviews
The Mazda CX-7 is a compact crossover SUV with seating for five. Introduced for 2007, it was a refinement on the more utilitarian Tribute and like most newer Mazdas, it has an athletic demeanor. The CX-7 also incorporates most of the elements that continue to make crossovers so popular, including carlike handling, available all-wheel drive and a useful amount of cargo capacity.
Although the CX-7 is fun to drive as crossovers go, its base four-cylinder engine is memorable for its sluggish acceleration and subpar fuel economy. The available turbocharged four-cylinder solves the performance problem, but its fuel economy is even worse. With the efficient CX-5 waiting in the wings, the CX-7 was phased out after the 2012 model year.

What i expected - 2008 Mazda CX-7
By Geo - March 26 - 6:06 amI bought this car in January 2008 and since then all the other cars I drove in my life were nothing. Its an absolutely fantastic car, very quick, the engine noise fantastic ,the steering is like driving a GTi and the build quality fabulous. Of course like every car in the market has its negatives. I have tried hard to find as many as I can but I only find one. Fuel consumption. Well at least you know it before you buy, it even though that Mazda misleads you with the 12.3l per 100km. The best i have managed is 14.5l per 100 km.

Quite possibly the worst car I have ever owned - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By Chris Wieber - March 19 - 8:59 amThe title says it all. While its roomy, comfortable, and somewhat sporty (which is what prompted me to purchase it in the first place), that cant make up for the absolute nightmare that the car has been to own. First of all, the mileage is abysmal, and youre going to have to multiply that by the fact that you need premium gas to run this thing, as its a 4-cylinder turbo. The absolute most damning thing is the reliability. There is none. I have poured so much money into this car, I could have bought another one by now. The timing chain will wear on you. Its a known issue. Its supposed to last the life of the vehicle, but Mazda dun goofed and now its the #1 repair on this vehicle (according to my mechanic, whose kids are now able to attend an Ivy league university, courtesy of incompetent Mazda engineers and clueless marks like myself). Every other month theres a problem with it... and I have NOT been ignoring the maintenance schedule. Also be aware there are several recalls currently on this vehicle (including in the "may cause serious injury or death" category), but of course the parts are on backorder and theres nothing they can do at the moment. Im not even going to try and sell it, as this is a fate I wouldnt wish on my worst enemy. If you happen to be driving through the breathtaking vistas of the Grand Canyon, and you see a guy set fire to a burgundy Mazda CX-7 and push it in, youve found me.

Cant stop looking at it! - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By carlitos92 - February 25 - 11:30 pmOkay, I admit that styling was the #1 reason I bought my CX-7. There is simply nothing else like it on the road. It also has sufficient pep, but handling is really its strong suit, dynamically. Its like an RX-8 on stilts. Im a bit worried that its not the frugal runabout I thought it was when it comes to mileage, but then again, Im only working on my third tank of gas. Overall, if it lives up to the typical Japanese build-quality expectations, Ill be ecstatic. If you have to do it all with one stylish car, this is it.

DARK BLUE COLOR ROCKS!!!!! - 2010 Mazda CX-7
By Machismo29 - February 24 - 7:46 amI picked up my CX7 2010 on November 13th, S Touring AWD. I did a lot of research before i bought it, and was very impressed with the reviews, You receive a lot for your money, and comparing it with the BMW, Audi and Lexus which cost a lot more, it was worth getting the CX7. Why pay more for just a name.

My second CX-7 - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By R Hunt - February 16 - 10:43 pmBought a front wheel drive Touring in July 2006 and traded up to GT in January. Better dash lights and heated side mirrors plus red over platinum were two of the deciding factors. First one was great. Averaged 26 mpg on 1700 mile trip. Fun to drive, looks great. Turbo lag very small, you can get used to it and learn to drive. No fear of merging into freeway traffic. I am 6 4 and wife is 52", could use the CX-9 drivers memory seat for us. Put 9000 miles on the first one in 7 months.

Nice set of wheels - 2010 Mazda CX-7
By Ron J - February 15 - 12:40 amI kwow I have only own the car for 5 days but I believe it is one of the better cross-overs on the road. I test drove the CRV, Tiguon, Rav4, Rouge, Murano, Sportage, EX, Edge, Equinox, Forrester. and the only one that was better was the Infiniti EX, but it was $20,000 more. IT really is a nice car, I recommend at least taking it for a test ride. Its nice inside and out, drives like a car and has room like a suv. The improvements mazda made to the 2010 model also makes it very practical and affordable. All the cars that I mention were more expensive with comparable features and options.I purchased the I Sport with the convenience package. Definitely worth every penny I paid fot the car.

First Model Defect to Arise! - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By Traveling Consultant - February 5 - 6:20 amI have been a very happy motorist for the first 60,000 miles put on my Mazda CX-7. This is my third review for this car. My car averages between 19-21 mpg. I do lots of highway traveling and I usually travel 200+ mile trips. My OEM tires lasted for 28,000. My second set of tires (not factory but dealer recommended and cheaper) will probably be replaced at 80,000. Until 60,000 I had absolutely no issues with this car. About 60,000 the fuel sensor started coming up. I have identified I trigger this failure when stepping on the gas during exit ramp to highway acceleration events. There have been three such sensor failures, seems to be a recurring defect.

Another great Mazda - 2011 Mazda CX-7
By coaster - February 2 - 6:05 pmAfter driving my Mazda5 for five years without one problem it was time to trade. I looked at other brands of smaller SUVs and Minivans but in the long run the reliability of my 5 and my great dealer service persuaded me to stay with Mazda. I have had the CX-7 since Aug. 2010 and so far there has not been even a trace of a problem. The CX-7 has undergone improvements in ride, quiet cabin and interior appointments and they are all appreciated. The seats are very comfortable and the dashboard it really smart looking. On my most recent highway trip I averaged 30.5 miles per gallon. In normal city driving I average 22 mph. I love the car.
