  • Absolutely worth it - 2006 Hyundai Sonata

Had car for 6 months, never had problem, one recall for dirver seatbelt adjustment. Overall, 2006 Sonata V6 is a solid buy for me. Interior is spacious, design is fine. has really nice feeling inside. Engine is powerful, ride is quiet, acceleration is great. Gas mileage is 22-23 mixed local and high way. I saw some review saying gas mileage is bad, but, it is exactly as stated 20 local and 30 highway. Its related to driving habit. Build is not as fine tuned as Camry and Honda, but, its $4000-5000 less than Camry and Honda plus 10 year warranty. Long term reliability is unknown, but, if it meets the expectation, we can say bye bye to Japanese cars.

  • NO OIL Pressure at Start-up - 2006 Hyundai Sonata
    By -

After a careful break-in and driving the V6 Sonata for 26000kms, it takes up to 4 secs for the oil pressure to builb-up, every time it`s been restarted (genuine oil filtet used). Took it to dealership and hooked-up a manual cauge, my complaint was confirmed, but Assured this condition is NORMAL. 10 starts a day @ 4 secs at a time = 4 hrs per Year, running the motor without oil. How long does Hyundai and its Engineers think this motor will run before it needs a major overhaull? Is there a check valve to be installed to prevent oil back flow?

  • Almost perfect, but... - 2006 Hyundai Sonata

I really like the car - two beefs: it doesnt get the fuel mileage Hyundai advertises and theres a winter problem with the steel wheels. I get about 28 mpg (Canadian - bigger gallons) and Hyundai says I should get 45. It replaces an 02 Accord (4 cyl. 5 spd.) that got 34 mpg. The steel wheels pack with snow (when the car is sitting and the snow drifts in. The snow cant escape and the wheels get horribly out of balance. I carry a special skinny stick with me to unblock the wheels, but its a design issue that Hyundai needs to address.

  • Dennis Toy - 2006 Hyundai Sonata

I never thought I would own a foreign car. But gas prices drove me from a luxury van to a more practical sedan. I chose the Sonata over all the other foreign brands. And I couldnt be happier. It runs good with a surplus of pep. The interior fits me. I cant remember taking so much plastic off of a new car! Kudos to Hyundai!

  • good for the money - 2006 Hyundai Sonata

I did a lot of research on this car and its competitors. My objectives were to replace my 1995 Camry with something similar in size, miles per gallon, and price. I felt that the Sonata was the best deal out there. It had many standard features that were options with similar cars. I am enjoying driving this car, but I am not satisfied with the mpg rates I am getting. For a combined city/highway driving, I am averaging only about 18-19 mpg. I thought that buying a 4 cyl. I would be doing better with the gas. It is also rather noisy on the freeway. I also find the trunk very heavy to lift. Regardless, I am enjoying the solid feel, the radio, and the overall maneuverability

  • Good Buy For The Money - 2006 Hyundai Sonata

Good quality for the money. Many standard options that are extra on others of the same class both domestic and foreign. Cannot beat the warranty!

  • Great car but with rattles - 2006 Hyundai Sonata
    By -

The 2006 car is my fourth Hyundai and undoubtedly the best. It is also the most expensive so I expected a better ride, beter everything and it lived up to all the hype produced by Hyundai, almost. It still rattles over rough roads and lets you know it does not care much about the somewhat harsh ride over such roads by producing the noise. It handles better, is smoother shifting, and has more than enough power to get you into trouble with the law if you can afford such adventures. This car even gets a wee bit more gas milage than the others with a much bigger and more refined engine. There will probably be a fifth Hyundai someday.

  • Good value - 2006 Hyundai Sonata

The car has been pretty reliable.Only one small problem. I have owned it only four months. It has a pretty nice ride.

  • Youll like this car! - 2006 Hyundai Sonata

Ive logged over 12K miles over the first year and have no substantive complaints at all. The car has satisfied all of my expectations, and I dont consider myself easy to satisfy. Ive had no problems other than a ding on the roof from the dealer which he fixed perfectly while giving me a loaner. Mileage is running only about 22 mpg in mixed driving. You wont do better than this car for the money.

  • 2005 buy back for new 2006 - 2006 Hyundai Sonata
    By -

The 2006 was a buy back from Hyundai for us from a 2005 that was in the shop more then it was on the street. The 2005 was truely in the shop constantly. With much negoitiation, the 2005 was bought back and replaced with a new 2006. The 2006 is a much better car, more room, more power and better styling. The motor is responsive on the bottom end but seems to lag a little after the initial acceleration. The only problem so far is the back power window cable broke after about a 1000 miles. No other issues so far. This is the forth Hyundai we have had over many years and the 2006 is far superior over the first one we had when Hyundai first sold in the states. That one was a real dog!
