Surprising - 2006 Hyundai Sonata
By Dave - June 24 - 11:29 amI traded a 1999 Mercedes SLK roadster for this car when I started my new business and needed a more practical and more reliable car. The service and quality of the Hyundai - which I paid about $16,000 for - far exceeds the Mercedes. Dont get me wrong - the Mercedes was beautiful, but the brand itself has gone downhill. I have over 50,000 miles on the Hyundai and it has been virtually without problems - the problems that I did have were fixed by the dealership. I did not expect much for $16,000, and the real world resale value is good too. Also, the stereo is amazing - better than my Mercedes. I am sure one day I will get a fancier car, but this is the best work car you can get.

Look before you buy a Toyota or Honda! - 2006 Hyundai Sonata
By Frank - June 17 - 9:46 amI was looking for a reliable, fuel efficient car to replace my SUV. I drove cars from Honda, Toyota and Nissan. On a whim, I drove the Sonata. What a surprise! Its as smooth and quiet as a Lexus and sips gas like a Civic. Outstanding warranty, huge trunk, great looks, and thousands less than the competition. Only have 10,000 miles so I cant speak to reliability, but so far so good.

Love this car - 2006 Hyundai Sonata
By Kevin - May 21 - 10:54 amMy first ever experience with Hyundai and I am very impressed with the overall package you get for the money. The V6 is a very strong motor with a sweet sound when revving it. Its proven to be a very reliable performer, I now have over 60k put on it and not a single problem. Just normal wear and tear items replaced. I drive this car very hard because the engine is so eager to please, and the 5spd auto shifts very nice. Fuel economy is decent, even when driven hard its not that bad. I have recently done performance upgrades to it including exhaust, intake and ECU reprogram and its noticeably quicker. 60mph now only takes 6 seconds to reach. I am now a fan of Hyundai.

Great Car - 2006 Hyundai Sonata
By Al - May 15 - 4:03 amI have had this car a little bit more than a year (28000 miles), and have only good things to say about it. Fun to drive, very reliable (only visits to the dealership are for scheduled services), very comfortable. Finding the right position on the drivers seat took me a while, but since then, absolutely no back pain or leg cramps. Sound system is very good. Gas mileage about 30 mpg highway @65 mph. Average runs about 24-25 mpg. Powerful engine. Quiet, smooth drive. In summary, you cant beat this deal. Plenty of car for the money.

Good car bad dealers - 2006 Hyundai Sonata
By bikermark - May 3 - 11:16 amThe Sonata runs god and has nice power. the seats could have better thigh suport. The build quility could be better. But the worst thing is the dealer attitude. My rear brakes howl when i turn left, and the dealer refuses to do anything because this only happens to the 4 cyl. cars. the paint is peeling off on the bumper. the seat rattles and the dealer says they cant do anything because thats how they build these things. So i went to the other dealer in town who also sells buick and doesnt have any time or desire to help a hyundai owner. So Im going back to Toyota where Ive always got very good cars and very good service. Hyundai a good car but not there yet.

Great Car - 2006 Hyundai Sonata
By Smith - April 25 - 3:18 pmWe love this car and will definitely get another Sonata. We had a 89 Honda Accord and this is just as good if not better.

Quite Happy - 2006 Hyundai Sonata
By jrenk - March 25 - 9:43 amA whole lotta car for not a lot of money. Went with the LX to get the 17 inch performance rated tires and the auto climate control. Generally a comfortable, well handling car however I find the gas mileage to be abysmal in that its not even close to the EPA estimate. More like 15 mpg in the city (sometimes less!) and a fair 28 mpg on the highway. Acceleration lags a bit however at highway speeds passing speed is achieved quickly and powerfully. Carpeting in my car was not installed properly; molding on spare tire cover has come off. Paint easily chipped to base coat. Overall, Im quite happy with this purchase.

Commuter Dream - 2006 Hyundai Sonata
By ubewell - February 10 - 2:53 amMy wife drives this car 80% of the time to make her daily 36 mile round trip commute to work and home. It has made quite an impact on her when you consider our previous car was a shaker and rattler. The interior of this car is large with lots of rear leg room. Fit and finish is quite pleasant and unexpected in a car priced below equally equipped Honda Accords and Toyota Camrys. Those two models would easily have been two or three thousand additional dollars. Our only complaint to date has been squeeky brakes when reversing. (Paid our dealer to fix but came back just as bad!) Ride is quiet and comfortable. Superior warranty sold me right away. Doors sound great and solid when closed.

Sonata Manual review - 2006 Hyundai Sonata
By Ksven - December 27 - 6:06 amIve had the manual Sonata for six months now and have put 5000 miles on it both city and highway. It is a great deal for what it has to offer, especially in terms of security, warranty and features. Quiet ride on the highway, a lot of space. But! It has no fun factor at all (I guess I was hoping I would find the fun in it, but never did), and the suspension is rather soft. I am not sure about build quality since a number of rattles have been driving me nuts. Stereo system is so-so as well and gas mileage has been disappointing, although I am a very careful driver.
