The Hyundai Sonata is completely redesigned for 2006. It's also the first Hyundai car to be built in the U.S.
- More upscale-looking than its predecessor, powerful and refined V6, smooth highway ride, roomy interior.

Excellent daily driver - 2006 Hyundai Sonata
By itsallgood - April 4 - 10:16 amThey say not to buy a brand new model style on the first year. I did just that with my Sonata LX. I have over 35k on it now and I"ve been very happy with the car. Handles great thru twisty mountain roads, as well as the freeway. Feels solid and safe at high speeds, too. I would definitely recommend this car,its dependable and actually fun to drive!

Great car - 2006 Hyundai Sonata
By Juan Rivas - April 3 - 9:53 pmThis car has been one of our best purchases....rides and drives well and it is very comfortable. We just recently have taken two trips over 500 miles and it is responsive even at the high elevations when going in the mountains. It is amazing how much cargo volume is available

NO OIL Pressure at Start-up - 2006 Hyundai Sonata
By Takis Tzinakos - March 31 - 7:20 pmAfter a careful break-in and driving the V6 Sonata for 26000kms, it takes up to 4 secs for the oil pressure to builb-up, every time it`s been restarted (genuine oil filtet used). Took it to dealership and hooked-up a manual cauge, my complaint was confirmed, but Assured this condition is NORMAL. 10 starts a day @ 4 secs at a time = 4 hrs per Year, running the motor without oil. How long does Hyundai and its Engineers think this motor will run before it needs a major overhaull? Is there a check valve to be installed to prevent oil back flow?

Almost perfect, but... - 2006 Hyundai Sonata
By Bobundai - March 23 - 10:23 pmI really like the car - two beefs: it doesnt get the fuel mileage Hyundai advertises and theres a winter problem with the steel wheels. I get about 28 mpg (Canadian - bigger gallons) and Hyundai says I should get 45. It replaces an 02 Accord (4 cyl. 5 spd.) that got 34 mpg. The steel wheels pack with snow (when the car is sitting and the snow drifts in. The snow cant escape and the wheels get horribly out of balance. I carry a special skinny stick with me to unblock the wheels, but its a design issue that Hyundai needs to address.

First Week review - 2006 Hyundai Sonata
By Patrick - February 18 - 1:53 pmWe expected to buy a European model (VW passat or Volvo S40 or S60) We saw the Hyundai Sonata at an Auto Show, it has all of Features we were looking for (LX model). I was on the fence about VW due to reliability rating I read and Volvo due to a friends experience was expensive in the maintainance and upkeep (Eats Breaks more than most cars) We found in Sonata the ride, quality of craftmanship and noise level in cabin all similar to European models we liked. The 10/100,000 limited powertrain warranty and 5/ 60,000 Limited Warrenty was also a draw to the stand behind quality of Hyundai. Features, Ride, Craftmanship all are in line with what we wanted for the class of car we bought.

Never would have gotten one before now. - 2006 Hyundai Sonata
By New owner - January 31 - 12:46 pmThe new sytle is what got me into the dealer to begin with. Great car lots of power behind the 3.3 litre. Inside qual not as good as a Toyota but you are not spending as much and yet still get a bunch more. Drives very nice and I see a good future for Hyundai with this new car.

Great car.Look out here comes Hyundai!!! - 2006 Hyundai Sonata
By Mahlon Willams - January 19 - 4:43 amGreat power train packages. The 3.3 is better than Kias 2.7 V6 and delivers a good punch being sister cars in body style. Fuel milage is better than fair even with the heavy foot. They do share the 2.4 4 cyl engine.Hyundai offers alot of standard features other cars call options. For ex. fog lights, electronc stability control for few.In a nut shell Hyundai is getting better fast.Dont fall asleep other asian auto makers Hyundai is paying attention to consumers demands and has come along way.Whos laughing now.

Dennis Toy - 2006 Hyundai Sonata
By Dennis B. - January 5 - 7:16 amI never thought I would own a foreign car. But gas prices drove me from a luxury van to a more practical sedan. I chose the Sonata over all the other foreign brands. And I couldnt be happier. It runs good with a surplus of pep. The interior fits me. I cant remember taking so much plastic off of a new car! Kudos to Hyundai!
