Loyal Hyundai owners - 2006 Hyundai Sonata
By Robin - August 19 - 6:47 pmThis is our third Hyundai, our first sonata. We have put 80000 miles on it in three years. We love the 30 miles per gallon on the highway. Can travel from Houston to Wichita Falls on one tank of gas! We love the roominess and the low cost of maintenance. We have not had any trouble with it.

88,000 miles - 2006 Hyundai Sonata
By T Slape - August 6 - 10:10 pmI drive it a lot. Both visors failed after warranty, Hyundai wouldnt replace them. Something is rattling in the rear end, not sure what, but I think it needs shocks/struts. Windshield washer just failed. Otherwise the car is great and I would buy another. The trailer hitch kit that said "bolts on in under 30 minutes..." did!

By Satisfied Customer - July 31 - 1:20 amI was hesitant to buy a Hyundai at first. In the last two months, however, I have bought two! I was very satisfied with my purchase of a Hyundai Tucson so I took a good luck at the Sonata. I was very impressed by the fit and finish, ride quality and solid performance of the 235hp V6. It is very smooth and practically silent and free of vibrations while idling. I found the drivers seat a bit firm at first, but I got used to that in a very short time. I researched my purchase over several months. I looked at everything from the Volvo S40 to the Ford Fusion, and found that the Sonata was the best overall value. Best of all, the performance of the Sonata beat the all. I am very pleased.

Approaching 60K - 2006 Hyundai Sonata
By Rick - July 15 - 5:05 pmMy 2nd sonata. Only problems have been a dead windshield washer pump and some doorlock issues, both addressed by dealer. This car is a great value, & Hyundai is a great story - they appear to be making quality vehicles at reasonable prices. Still, I enjoy our 99 e320 more, but no complaints on the brand or dealer.

My first Hyundai wont be the last! - 2006 Hyundai Sonata
By Tom B - June 29 - 6:52 pmI was on the fence about Hyundai until I read about the Sonata and how it was built in America. So I bought the first V6 Sonata LX fully loaded to arrive in San Diego and paid invoice! Had to settle for Black as that was what came in. To this day I have ZERO regrets! The car is amazing and looks fantastic. It has really held up great with just a few oil changes and 30K service. Ive replaced the tires and front brakes and thats it. I highly recommend this car to anyone. The only downside is gas mileage..typical driving will get you about 19 mpg if you really drive it light around 23mpg... I see it averaging close to 30 mpg on a long highway trips.

Update - 2006 Hyundai Sonata
By Frank - June 28 - 10:06 pmNow have over 27000 miles on my 06 Sonata and still love this car. It has been bullet proof so far. What impresses me the most is how smooth and quiet this car is. Except for the noise that comes from water spray on the undercarriage when it rains, this car is extremely quite. My friend owns a Lexus LS and this car is nearly as smooth and quiet as his car! Power is very good for a 4 cylinder, but is noticeable slower with the A/C running. ESC is great in the snow. Overall mileage has been 24.9 mpg with about 31 mpg on highway. Way more car for the money that with Toyota or Honda. Only issue is poor resale value. But that should improve as more people discover Hyundai.

Life Saver - 2006 Hyundai Sonata
By snbeavers - June 18 - 5:43 amI knew the safety on these vehicles were good but now I would make safety my first choice in buying a new Sonata. I havent even owned it a month and I will be buying another. My wife and I was just t-boned by a Durango going approximatly 40 mph, and yet here I am the next day leaving a review on edmunds. The durango driver blasted me on my side and totaled the car. I had to be cut out of the car. Thanks to the curtain side and seat airbags, I have only a few bruises and a craked rib. If you could see this car, you would know that its an unbelievable blessing from God and Hyundai that my wife and I are alive not to mention walking around normally with only bruises and a cracked rib.

Great VALUE - 2006 Hyundai Sonata
By Jodo17 - June 2 - 11:16 pmJust took delivery of my GLS V6 (paid $17,500 with no extra options but rebates just went up another $500 so I missed out on that). Nice so far. Just an incredible value compared to Honda & Toyota. Although I love the deal, I cant believe Hyundai has to offer such high rebates. That does not bode well for their future. More people need to get on the Hyundai bandwagon because you save so much $ (even without rebates) and get more for your money. I guess it is harder to overcome past quality stigma than expected, but Hyundai has arrived. Like everything I read, a comparable Accord or Camry might be slightly better but at way higher cost. Sonata wont depreciate as well but costs less.

One word - Awesome! - 2006 Hyundai Sonata
By electriceye - May 24 - 1:53 amTraded in our 2004 Hyundai Sonata straight up for this 2006 SEV6. Have owned for just over 2 years now. The dealer replaced oil injector (pre- luber) and right front strut at 2 years.(Warranty, baby) Other than that, no other problems,period. May trade in for a 2009 if they can pry me away from this one. ) Biggest complaint is the road noise when driving on concrete surfaced roads, pavement isnt to bad. The stock 17" Michelin tires wear out quickly...will not buy those as replacements.

Surprised in PA - 2006 Hyundai Sonata
By Will - May 7 - 7:53 pmThe car is surprisingly nimble and attractive. The 6 cyclinder engine is powerful and throaty. The dealer however leaves something to be desired. Maintenance department employs strange and scary charachters
