If american car makers tried as hard as hyundai to win over buyers they wouldnt be in the mess they are in now.I have bought american cars for 25 years. Not anymore. Poor reliability and high cost to maintain finally forced me to look elsewhere. I did my research and found a winner in the sonata. Excellent value! Great warranty and quality workmanship. The car has a smooth and quiet ride, handles nicely and the V-6 with the shiftronic transmision makes it fun to drive. I dont think you can find a better car for the money.

  • Comfort is so so - 2006 Hyundai Sonata

I have owned my car for 17 months, bought is at 13k miles, now at 38,500k. So far its been very reliable except for one issue. It has a tendency to cut out or have minor hesitation when going up hills. Dealership says nothing is wrong, not hard coding. I use the 100% gas (non ethanol)and it seems to help. The front seats lack comfort. My back quickly starts hurting on trips, I must use a small pillow for the lumbar area. Have already had the following replaced: Driver side door lock, sun visor and window assembly.

  • proud to drive a hyundai - 2006 Hyundai Sonata

After the unfortunate experience of having my 96 Acura TL (paid for, only 95k miles) totaled, I reluctantly began to look for its replacement. I found this car after a long search and slowly fell for it. The Sonata has won me over. Mileage is good, fit & finish are nice, good quality leather and the interior is really roomy. The engine is bigger, so Im enjoying the power. Pretty good pickup, and though it doesnt claim to be sporty, i find that it handles well enough for my taste. The funniest thing is convincing people that a Hyundai is more than a low end, minimally styled car. Im still grieving the loss of my Acura, but am so far very pleased with my "new" Hyundai.

  • 2006 Hundai Sonata GLS V6 - 2006 Hyundai Sonata

I love this car. I traded in my reliable 2001 Hyundai Elantra GLS 4Cyl and got this Sonata. Its much bigger, the V6 is powerful and the car is very good with handling.

  • For a Fleet Car-Its great! - 2006 Hyundai Sonata
    By -

This is my company car provided by a fleet services company. I have to admit, when they first said what I was getting, I was a bit disappointed. However, after driving this for just a weekend, I am completely sold. Its responsiveness and driveability is incredible. It is extremely comfortable on the inside and Im a big guy. Car seat fits perfect in the back seat with plenty of room. The V6 is very impressive with a heck of a response. While driving, you dont even realize that youre driving a Hyundai. For a sticker price of $23K, anyone would be extremely pleased with this vehicle. A+++++

  • Youve got what you paid for - 2006 Hyundai Sonata

Overall - its a car worth its money, and I believe, problems with earlier production car will be fixed in the future. 15 MGP city/26 highway - come on - its ridiculous. Weird noises from the rear suspension and gas tank, driver seat gives me a backpain, my car is equipped with a subwoofer, yet, the bass quality is even worse then standard LX audio.

  • Nice Combo Of Quality and Economy for U - 2006 Hyundai Sonata

Vehicle is great. Very great deal for the price. It is very big on the inside- room-wise. Deepwater Blue and Beige leather is a killer combination! LXV6 will knock your socks off. Back seating is comfortable and very spacious. Trunk is large. Engine is laid out excellent, where you can find everything easily. Gas is still a mystery since I just bought it on 01/04/06. Heated seats work very well.

  • bang for buck - 2006 Hyundai Sonata

Bought the 06 lx new off the floor in Aug 05 after owning an 02 sonata. Much improved power, handling, style. Gas mileage was not improved - due to improved power. My wifes car is a MB E320 and yes, a far better ride, but, considering you could buy 2 1/2 sonatas for the same price . Its not sexy, but the safety features, warranty, and thus far reliability (40K) cant be beat. Im impressed with Hyundai - put a different badge on this car and the price would jump $15K.

  • Great Bang for the Buck - 2006 Hyundai Sonata

I was in the market for a mid-size sedan. I considered all the usual suspects (i.e. Accord, Camery, Malibu, etc.). However, after doing a lot of research on the net and reading various articles, I decided that the new Sonata gave the best "Bang for the Buck". I picked up a LX model with a V6 for only 20K+. I figure it was at least $5,000 less than a honda or toyota. I have had it 9 months so far with no (zero) problems. It is both silent and powerful. My previous car was a 4 Cylinder Altima. I was afraid that I would get much worse gas mileage from a V6. However, I have been pleased by the Sonata. I am getting about 23 MPG around the city and almost 31 MPG during pure (interstate) driving.
