  • Overall happy with purchase - 2006 Hyundai Sonata
    By -

I like my Sonata, and I am happy with my purchase. However, I am not happy with the fuel economy. I have had this car for a month now, and I average about 18 mpg, even though I do mostly highway driving. I have to fill up my tank after about 280-290 miles on an 18 gallon tank. I am now thinking I should have gone with the four cylinder, but I do not regret getting a Sonata.

  • Youve got to drive it to believe it. - 2006 Hyundai Sonata

I bought this car after driving it just once. Its built with quality, comfort and affordability in mind. You cant find a better car for the money, you can count on it. It drives smooth, quite and the V6 has plenty of power. No problems since I drove out of the dealership. I got to tell you, Hyundai has come a long way.

  • I hope mine is Not a lemon! - 2006 Hyundai Sonata
    By -

I purchased the car on 4/2/06. I drove it to Florida on 4/7. Enroute, the "ESC OFF" and the ABS warning lights came on,and the brake lights stopped working. I took the car to a Hyundai dealership in Gainesville. They replaced the brake lamp switch, and reassured me that it was the cause of the trouble. While on the way back home, I dicovered that not only does the "ESC OFF" light still come on, but the brake lights stay on, the cruise control wont set, and the Check Engine light is on! The car is now at the dealership that sold it to me,awaiting proper repairs. I hope that they will be able to correct the problems,or I will seek relief under the NYS Lemon Law.

  • Very good car...but not perfect - 2006 Hyundai Sonata

With one exception, this has been a great car. The drivers side seat (non-powered but adjustable)has a squeak that has not been "repairable" after the third visit. The seat is comfortable, but squeaks at stops and starts. It can get rather annoying. Otherwise the car has been all that I could ask for, especially at the price.

  • Poor mans Honda - 2006 Hyundai Sonata

For the price is a very good car, but after 1875 miles my driver side window strated to squeak when going up or down. Other than that its very good.

  • So Far, So Good - 2006 Hyundai Sonata

Beautiful vehicle! Lots of power and lots of extras. The MPG seems (is!) less than advertised, and the when you take you foot off of the accelerator there seems to be a lot of drag in the automatic transmission - not sure if that is a feature or a bug. Overall, we are very happy with our Sonata. Time will tell as far as reliability, however the car feels solid so we dont expect any problems.

  • Hooked on Hyundai - 2006 Hyundai Sonata

After dumping my mint condition 98 Lincoln Continental, I was worried about adjusting to a smaller engine. No worries now! No adjustment issues, Sonata is more quiet with a smoother ride. Paid a little extra and got the 10 yr bumper to bumper warranty. Upgraded raido to Eclipse GPS through dealership and love it, would never own a car w/ out one. Im getting 24 - 26 mpg on the hwy, but am doing 80 mph. Ill have a good laugh at the Honda Accord buyers when they take their cars in for service when their 3 yr warranty runs out! Parents dumped Cadillac for the Azera, sister dumped Civic for a Sonata, too. Stop hesitating and get one.

  • Why the major depreciation - 2006 Hyundai Sonata
    By -

I am extremely happy with my 06 LX Sonata except the depreciation. List on this was $23995 and now trade-in is $14900. WOW! I paid $19K but still a 21.5% in the first year. Never-the- less, plan on keeping. Ride is a little rough, performance is great, reliability is great, interior design well that has been beaten around the bush.

  • Bye-bye Toyota - 2006 Hyundai Sonata
    By -

Ive only had the car for less than 2 weeks and love driving in it. I had a Toyota Camry before and this has everything the Camry had and then some. You get more for your money with this car. The standard features are what make this car so great.

  • Excellent Value - 2006 Hyundai Sonata
    By -

The car is an excellent value for the $. Very roomy, quiet, pleasant ride. Stands up well to other cars in category I test drove (Accord, Camry, etc.). The safety features are a major plus (ABS, ESP, airbags everywhere, childseat-ready back, etc). Good commuter car. Not super agile or fast, but more than adequate for typical driving. Plan to keep the car for many years if it holds up, as Hyundai (and their super warranty) seem to believe it will.
