  • Great Car - 2006 Hyundai Sonata

So far so good, and its seems well worth it. Initially looked at the standard Honda, Toyota Camry, Altima/Maxima, but settled on the Hyundai. Quality seems great so far.

  • One word - Awesome! - 2006 Hyundai Sonata

Traded in our 2004 Hyundai Sonata straight up for this 2006 SEV6. Have owned for just over 2 years now. The dealer replaced oil injector (pre- luber) and right front strut at 2 years.(Warranty, baby) Other than that, no other problems, period. May trade in for a 2009 if they can pry me away from this one. ) Biggest complaint is the road noise when driving on concrete surfaced roads, pavement isnt to bad. The stock 17" Michelin tires wear out quickly...will not buy those as replacements.

  • Compares well to two Maximas - 2006 Hyundai Sonata

At 30K mi in 3 years, I have absolutely no complaints. The power/smoothness/quiet/comfortable ride & build quality have made the V6 Sonata a pleasure to own. The only repair so far has been the drivers sun visor, which was replaced under warranty, and Hyundai has a redesign that corrected the flaw. Hyundais 60K mi bumper to bumper warranty is much better than the competitions. The engine burns zero oil, and holds 6 quarts. I get 27-28 MPG hwy consistently, & 22.1 MPG on my 20 mi commute to work. My car is loaded, and a comparably equipped Camry would have cost me $36K. Mine was delivered for $19.2K. How can you beat the value? Id buy another Sonata in a heart beat!

The car is surprisingly nimble and attractive. The 6 cyclinder engine is powerful and throaty. The dealer however leaves something to be desired. Maintenance department employs strange and scary charachters

  • Worth taking a look... - 2006 Hyundai Sonata

My in-laws have Hyundais and have had no problems at all. So I decided to take a look at the new Azera. When I got there, I decided it was too big and my wife suggested the Sonata. I didnt care for the Jaguar-like look of the older ones so I balked at first. Then I saw a 2006 and I was like "WOW! Thats a Sonata??!". I drove it and the rest is history. Im proud to have it sitting in my driveway at less than $20k.

  • Nothing Wrong and a Lot right - 2006 Hyundai Sonata

Its been 3 years and 28,000 miles and my wife drives this car every day to work and I drive it on weekends and we have taken it on several long trips (Nova Scotia, Florida). Bottom line: no squeaks, no rattles, no problems. Highway mileage about 28 (regular) and overall, mostly 8 mile trips for my wife to work, is 19 mpg. Lots of power (V-6), great brakes, generally very quiet except for suspension noise in the rear over big bumps and engine noise under full acceleration. So smooth you cant tell if the engine is running. Very comfortable (leather). Only 2 complaints: radio reception is not good, suspension slightly floaty at high speed (like a Camry, but a little better). Great value!

I traded in my 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer OZ Rally for this car because my Lancer was very underpowered. I looked at this and said wow this is sweet!!! I love this car!!! Props to Hyundai for making such a stylish vehicle. I got nearly everything for $15039 after the trade in!

  • Three Plus Years and Counting - 2006 Hyundai Sonata

Bought my Hyundai Sonata because of the price, warranty, and features. Have owned it more than three years. Dealer replaced dead windshield washer pump at three years. No major problems in three years. Would and will buy more Hyundai products. My biggest complaint is the road noise when driving on the interstate. Those ole boys (and girls) in Alabama build a GREAT car for the money!

Overall the vehicle is a good alternative to competing vehicles in the same class. However, I find the gas economy a poor alternative to other vehicles. For local mixed driving I am getting a poor 21.5 mpg as compared to 24 mpg advertised. On highway long distance driving of 200 miles and 150 miles local driving I got a poor 26.5 mpg. These numbers are achieved by taking consumed miles divided by gallons on fillup using a calculator not the onboard computer. Perhaps Hyundai should issue a tecnical service bulletin to correct this deficiency. Hundai should be aware that we use advertised ratings when we consider any vehicle purchase particularly in these days of high gas prices.
