Overview & Reviews
The Hyundai Sonata is completely redesigned for 2006. It's also the first Hyundai car to be built in the U.S.
- More upscale-looking than its predecessor, powerful and refined V6, smooth highway ride, roomy interior.

Traded my 2002 Accord in - 2006 Hyundai Sonata
By FRANK - April 16 - 10:16 pmPerhaps just the winter cold...not happy so far. Dead after work would not start. At speeds feels floaty. 3 Recalls, I cant remember ay for my Honda. Good thing I leased it. Its a Sonata, its So-not-a-Honda!

Very good car, GREAT value - 2006 Hyundai Sonata
By Flipper - March 2 - 1:43 pmBuild quality is excellent, interior is well laid-out but materials are less classy than some competitors. Ride is excellent, though not particularly exciting. Roominess, fuel economy, and reliability/warranty make this car a fantastic value! But Ill confess that Im glad its my wifes car and not mine -- partly because the lack of excitement to drive, partly because at 62", I cant straighten out my legs behind the wheel. Still, amazing that we bought it for less than my 2000 Saturn LS1 when new - especially with all those standard safety features.

Great car - 2006 Hyundai Sonata
By Rick Burton - February 19 - 2:00 amThis is my second Sonata. I had a 95 GLS V6 way back when and never had a problem with that one. I have had this one for a bit over a month (GLS V6) and love it. The car is smooth as silk. My only complaints would be the poor (19mpg) mileage around town and the fact that the o/s mirrors are not breakaway, a feature the 2005 Sonata did have. I got mine with the premium package. The vehicle is very quiet, but the 17" tires/wheel do have more noise than I prefer. The standard tires are not nearly as noisy, so if you dont like tire noise, get the standard tires. I would have done so myself, but it was included in the premium package and I really did want the sunroof and the upgrade mirror

skeptical at first, but very happy - 2006 Hyundai Sonata
By shann - February 14 - 8:10 amI have had hondas, fords and my last car was a nissan sentra, I wanted something more roomy and with more power and i found it. At first I was skeptical about getting a hyundai, but it was more car that fit my budget and it has proved me wrong. I would suggest this car to anyone, and this is just a base model and it has more features then a the honda 2006 base.

Competitive Build, Great Value - 2006 Hyundai Sonata
By JR - November 8 - 2:56 pmAfter test driving all the obvious competitors, I purchased my Sonata. The value and warranty are impossible to beat. Ive had to deal with a few minor quirks that the dealership cant/wont fix (strange dash panel fit around the radio, rattles coming from the windshield and the rear headliner). The exterior design is nice (looks like the offspring of a late-model Accord and an Audi A4) and the interior is decent. The manual mode on my auto transmission is a bit odd - it always feels like it lags behind my input when shifting. Overall, a great car with an exceptional warranty.

Hyundai, No Day - 2006 Hyundai Sonata
By Heroheroic - September 14 - 10:03 pmWell being laid off from a job is never a good thing. I have been working at Bellsouth for nearly 20 years and just got laid off so having to downgrade my house to an apartment and 2006 Honda Accord EXv6 to a Hyundai Sonata LXv6 was a lost too. Having features such as a map and Navigation System or even the smoothly performing V-TEC and 5 speed manual i was not happy. The Hyundai is a "generic" car. It seem as if it is of good quality, but maybe comparable to my last car a 1999 mazda 626 ESV6 (sorry i tend to buy only V-6 models for perfomance reasons only)and like it is about 3 to 5 years behind the competition. Hyundai is still a player in the catch up game and is learning also.

Poor rear suspension design - 2006 Hyundai Sonata
By prince Strickland - August 31 - 9:33 pmMy overall experience with my vehicle has been fine except it has developed a loud rear suspension noise and the factory reps are stating they do no have a solution for the problem.
