Model Overview:

Crossovers with carlike ride and handling characteristics are perennially popular, and a good example of the breed is the smart-looking Ford Edge. It's a midsize crossover with seating for five. Thanks to its roomy interior, long list of amenities and available all-wheel drive, it's typically a good match for small- and medium-size families seeking a do-it-all utility vehicle.

In road tests, our editors have praised the Edge's quiet ride and advanced features like the MyFord Touch electronics interface, though as with most modern, in-car technology, there's a learning curve. Additionally, Ford offers a range of different engines in the Edge to appeal to crossover buyers seeking performance, fuel economy or a balance of both. Although the Ford Edge might not appeal to bigger families in need of high passenger capacity, it's a solid contender in most other respects.

They have not lived up to the problem in their customer service divsion and have not come out publically and admitted they have a problem Maybe they should follow

  • Disappointed - 2011 Ford Edge
    By -

So very, very disappointed. Ive only had my 2011 Edge a few weeks, but the gas mileage is terrible. While mostly highway miles, Im barely getting an average of 16 mpg. If this continues, the 19/27 mpg as stated by Ford is a gross misrepresentation. While running errands today, I got 11mpg (50/50 highway miles). I feel mislead and deceived.

  • Nice at first until a part breaks - 2007 Ford Edge
    By -

I bought my Ford Edge 8 months ago with 38,000 miles and loved it until the vista sunroof "broke" for no reason. The service technician just said the part malfunctioned.... Ford is charging $5,000 for the vista roof track alone! That is absolutely ridiculous!! There is no way that part costs that much. But there is nothing I can do other than pay the cost to get it fixed or leave it closed. That is certainly not a well manufactured vehicle. I highly recommend that you go elsewhere for a vehicle that will not simple break and you are stuck with the bill.

  • Could be better - I made a costly mistake! - 2010 Ford Edge
    By -

I was taken by the exterior styling and should have been more careful and taken more time before jumping in with both feet. I should have gone with my head instead of my heart. The transmission is terrible (inconsistant shifting), the cabin area seems confined, materials seem cheap and interior is outdated, gas mileage leaves much to be desired, engine seems sluggish but could be due to the lousy transmission. Visability is poor especially when backing up. Seats are not that comfortable after being in the saddle for awhile. If I had it to do over, I would do like my brother-in-law did and get a Dodge Journey. More comfort, more storage, better performance, 3rd row seat option, same size.

  • problems with transmission, traction control - 2007 Ford Edge
    By -

I bought mine 9 months ago with 40,000 miles. It has been to the dealer three times for transmission fluid leaks and twice for apparently random activation of traction control while drving about 60 mph and causing sudden deceleration -- not a good thing on an interstate! Two dealers could not recreate the traction control issue and told me to take it home. Looking to trade it in.

  • Head Restraints - 2011 Ford Edge
    By -

We purchased 2 of the New Ford edge 2011 AWD Limited full house, and the head restraints position is causing us to have severe head, back and neck pain. This is due to the forward leaning position of the front seat head restraints, they are angled too far forward and are not adjustable except for height. This forces the head to bend forward, chin down in an unnatural position. I have been informed that this might have been a requirement to prevent whiplash injury. I am not a test dummy and this position is causing severe NECK ACHE did anyone consider what would happen if a woman sat in this seat with a ponytail.

  • Reporting a malfuncioning - 2010 Ford Edge
    By -

I purchased my ford Edge in may/10. on 10/06/2010 while my wife was driving the car noticed that the front wheel (driver side) was vibrating she slowed down to 35 MPH and pushed the brake pedal to stop the car but car vibrated more and moved to the left and hit into another car. I am wondering maybe there is a production problem.

  • SYNC a Deal Spoiler - 2011 Ford Edge
    By -

My biggest gripe with the new 2011 Ford Edge has to do with the SYNC system. The claim of "Touch. Talk. Drive" is false and misleading. Voice recognition is really bad - it often has a problem with recognizing simple commands such as Yes or No. My SYNC experience has been so frustrating that I am actually trying to return the car. The Navigation system is also bad. Today I had an instruction to "Make a Legal U-Turn" - on a freeway! There is also insufficient warning prior to reaching turn-offs. Lastly, the Hazard Flasher button is super sensitive and poorly positioned. I often turn it on when reaching for the touch screen. This is a hazard!

  • My 2010 Ford Edge is a Lemon - 2010 Ford Edge
    By -

Since I bought it, the tire sensors, Nav system, sunroof, USB, door, power seat, transmission and brakes have all failed. I have 5500 miles on. I have lost it for service 32 days and 3 mornings. Ford has been a nightmare to deal with. Stories, lies, refusal to fix/replace systems etc. I finally had a meeting with cust serv, which was a choreographed show and waste of time. They cant fix everything and wont take it back.

  • Never Again - 2007 Ford Edge
    By -

Im so disappointed that I will not buy a Ford again. Too many problems for a new car, especially the air conditioning! So much for buying American. What an upset.
