Shame on Dodge - 1999 Dodge Intrepid
By Jacatch - March 20 - 2:00 amI decided to buy a U.S. car because I thought that by now most cars are similar in reliability. This car was okay until the engine went out at 66,000 miles. My research on the internet has found that this is a common problem with this engine (V-6 2.6 litre). Dodge/Chrysler will not help out in any way (I tried). 3 other people where I work had similar problems with the engine going out (1999,2000 and 2001). Daimler-Chrysler has no idea how many people will never buy a Dodge again. Word of mouth is spreading on the Intrepid all of the repair shops know about the problem with this engine.

After 4 years of ownership - 1999 Dodge Intrepid
By Irish911 - February 2 - 2:00 amThis intrepid has been pretty reliable. The only problems encountered, ignition switch, drivers window track (power window), and now the heater fan only has two speeds "Off and High". Would I purchase another Intrepid, probably, if the deal was right.

worst car I have ever owned - 1999 Dodge Intrepid
By miss smith - January 24 - 2:00 amBe careful, these cars will screw you over. We thought it was a good car, until the engine went bad at 70,000 miles, the heating fan went out at 50,000, the struts went bad, the electric windows wouldnt work anymore, tape player doesnt work.... Need I say more. Piece of crap, and I am not the only one to say so. Watch out! Weve been stung. Bad resale value also.

Dead before 75000 - 1999 Dodge Intrepid
By Never Again - January 22 - 2:00 amI bought this car new. I have bought new Dodges for the past 25 years. I just went out and bought a Honda. With less than 75,000 miles on the car, the engine went. I understand this problem is standard on the smaller engine. I kept buying American because I thought it was my duty. I am just a working class guy and cannot afford a car that just dies at 75,000 miles.

Research didnt help - 1999 Dodge Intrepid
By Qdubb - January 2 - 2:00 amWhen I purchased this car in 01 I did the research. At least I thought I did. Consumer reports had positive things to say about it but now I regret purchasing this car. My biggest issue is the price I paid for this car ($15995). Now I d be lucky to get $7000 for this thing. Its a money pit. I have had my share of issues from brakes to oil pan issues and AC in the last couple of years and I am now just waiting for the next big break in my pocket book. The sad thing is I know three other people I work with who wishes they had never made their Intrepid purchase.
