This Year's Model Updates:

A performance R/T model is onboard for 2000. Intrepids get five new colors, new seat fabric in Base models, and added horsepower and torque to ES models powered by the 2.7-liter V6. AutoStick is available with that engine, and ES buyers can order an in-dash CD changer. Tether-ready child-seat anchors have been added behind the rear seat, and cars sold in California meet LEV standards.

Pros:
  • Huge interior, gigantic trunk, available 3.2-liter V6 engine on the ES model, good looks.
Cons:
  • Cheap interior materials, lots of engine and road noise, invisible corners make parking a chore.

This is the best car I have ever drivenon ice or wind especially in the Columbia River Gorge. It holds the road very well and love the styling and wide track. Ive heard rumors that they are going to replace it with another modle. I hope they will keep the Intrepid line and styling.

Have had three so far. 1994 had many problems. 1997 was flawless. This one has been the same. No problems and a nice, large, car that is sporty and fun to drive. Added a California wing (low arch) to the back and this car looks like twice the price. We plan on keeping this one for several more years as we have added a 03 AWD Caravan ES to the "stable" and it is getting most of the daily driver use.

Best car I have ever driven. In high winds the car keeps straight into the wind with no sway, also still gets excellant gas milage. They drive like a sports car and fun to drive.

The vehicle is very comfortable and very fun to drive. The styling is still fresh even after three and a half years of ownership. Interior trim is very luxurious and of high quality.

  • Great car - 2000 Dodge Intrepid

I purchased my intrepid with 30000 miles on it in September 2002. Now the car has 53000 on it. This has been a reliable car no breakdowns or anything, has not been to the mechanic once. The car gets fantastic gas mileage 30mpg on highway. For the small 2.7 liter V-6 the car has great performance, great accelaration, when accelerater pushed all the way to the floor the rpms go way up wich slows down acceleration but its still pretty peppy. Has Good handleing and braking.

I bought my red Intrepid (new) based on looks, but even my husband commented on what a wonderful car it has been. (Whew) My biggest gripe is the unusual noise the a/c gives out when the car is in motion: at takeoff, and then almost every 17 seconds it whistles/rattles for about 2 to 3 seconds until you come to a stop. I have driven in two other similar Intrepids and both did this same thing other cheaper Dodges Ive owned never did this. I also had problems with the front overhead light spooking us out by coming on of its own volition while driving this was taken care of under warranty. Paint seemed to chip almost immediately, exposing the metal.

  • Finally as fast as it looks - 2000 Dodge Intrepid

Was the best looking sedan , R/T made it fun. Had 99 base model , nice but slow.R/T handles like smaller car , goes like stink.Big ABS brakes bail you out of moments of inattention and bad weather. Slap snow tires on and also great in snow ( remove 17" summers )17" Michelins wear fast and are very expensive.

We purchased an ES model with 24,000 miles 10 months ago. It now has 55,000 on it and not once back to the dealership. We just love the car. We bought it for the roominess as we need to fit 3 car seats. I would not have bought a car this size without the larger engine. We traded in a Stratus so we were use to the blocked rear view and the low nose. I also think the value is there. The blue book even with our extra mileage deduction, is still around what we paid. Maybe used is a better value than new. I am also impressed with the quality or this wouldnt be our 3rd Dodge. Im glad my wife chose the Intrepid.

  • I love this car! - 2000 Dodge Intrepid

I bought the ES model with all the vailable options in May of 2000. I drive about 80 to 100 miles a day, so I wanted reliability and comfort, but I still wanted sporty styling and handling. The Interpid has been perfect for over 90,000 miles. I have had no mechanical problems, the interior materials have held up well and the car remains comfortable and fun to drive. It still looks like new and drives great!

Roomy enough for 1 family of 5 - Sporty enough to keep DaD happy, with excellent fuel economy for a large style car. Very reliable, and has been free of any mechanical problems. Only flaw has been the drivers seat which has a weak bolt that can break- and does- but this item has been placed on recall and been rectified. Great car!
