Overview & Reviews
A performance R/T model is onboard for 2000. Intrepids get five new colors, new seat fabric in Base models, and added horsepower and torque to ES models powered by the 2.7-liter V6. AutoStick is available with that engine, and ES buyers can order an in-dash CD changer. Tether-ready child-seat anchors have been added behind the rear seat, and cars sold in California meet LEV standards.
- Huge interior, gigantic trunk, available 3.2-liter V6 engine on the ES model, good looks.
- Cheap interior materials, lots of engine and road noise, invisible corners make parking a chore.

Excellent Car - 2000 Dodge Intrepid
By Dan - September 14 - 6:16 pmI purchased this car as my first vehicle and I absalutly love it. It has been very, very reliable and have not had any problems with it. I have owned the car for a little more than a year and it has been treating me very well. My Dodge has almost 100,000 miles and it runs like brand new. It has never leaked ANYTHING since I have had it. The gas mileage is not as bad as I thought considering that it is a big car. The turning radius is excellent and the confort if great. Its an awsome family sedan and I could not think of anything bad to say about it. The interior and interior design was well thought up and I am very satisified with my car. If they still made them I would by another.

OK - 2000 Dodge Intrepid
By ex-mopar - May 13 - 10:00 amWhen I bought the car, I loved it. After a few months, I found that the quality was more "plastic". It looks great and drives well, however too many squeaks and rattles make for a noisy ride. On initial acceleration, car seems to "jump" into first gear - enough to give you whiplash! Very odd squeaking when engine starts up - comes from rear passengers side wheel well - had it in to be looked at but they could not find the problem. It still "squeaked" this morning, but I dont care - trading it in for a Ford today - glad to get rid of it. Rearview mirror is in the way of everything - could be a bit higher. Dashboard is turning white from grey????

Big car room with small car handling - 2000 Dodge Intrepid
By Jimo2000 - January 31 - 9:06 pmIm happy with my Intrepid so far. It handles very well in turns. I have a 3.2 liter engine and thought that with 225 horsepower the car would move faster. Its enough to get on highways with but off the line it takes a little bit to get going. I also drive a 98 Altima and found that the 4 cylinder engine in that is much quicker. Weight is an issue with this car

My 2nd Intrepid - 2000 Dodge Intrepid
By captken - April 24 - 2:00 amSecond time around with Intrepid. Great road call. Too big for DC commuter traffic. My favorite chair is in this car. Looking over right shoulder to see traffice is a challange...view blocked. Never did get used to slooping front end. Have to memorize where your front bumper is.

close but not not quite there - 2000 Dodge Intrepid
By r/tman - March 17 - 2:00 amIts a fun car to drive but there is a lot of little things that should not be there on a car pushing $30,000. Door seals that have been replaced, twice, a transmission that isnt sure if it should be in gear when cold, dealer cant find the problem, numerous rattles that shouldnt be there. The ownership experience would be a lot more fun if these things werent there.

great looks.......poor quality - 2000 Dodge Intrepid
By Koziol - February 18 - 2:00 amIt is a well designed car and powerful. However, there are many mechanical problems. The steering locked in a circle when turning. The windows fog up all the time. The worst problem was when both of my front tie-rods broke off the rack completely disabling my steering after only 50000 miles. Fortunately, I was only pulling away from the curb, or otherwise there may have been a potentially fatal accident from a instantaneous loss of steering. I was told that my bushings had worn out and transferred the force to my tie- rod bolts.

Fan - 2000 Dodge Intrepid
By jukeinc - December 1 - 2:00 amThe car is very solid and could be a blast to drive but my feeling is that there is insufficient air flow to the engine. I am working on ways to improve this horesepower issue and would welcome any ideas. In the future the car should be built with dual exhaust to help a little with whatever drag is occuring in the engine.

2000 Dodge Problems - 2000 Dodge Intrepid
By berrypie - September 16 - 2:00 amWe purchased this car used in March with 23,000 miles on it-now at 29,900 miles. Clunking noise on right front tire, needs link bar and front end alignment. Fuel sending unit went bad last week and ran out of gas! Fuel gauge works but stops at 1/4 tank. Transmission slips when stopping and starting. Dealer replaced door and trunk seals at no charge. Front windows make obnoxious squeaking noise when rolled up. Worried about 2.7 liter engine.

impressive - 2000 Dodge Intrepid
By isaac mitchell - September 2 - 2:00 amDriving the Dodge Intrepid has proven to be an expected pleasure. The Intrepid not only shares the same chassis as its Chrysler cousins,(Concorde,300 M),but also the sam good looks and ride. Since it seems to be just a little lighter,it does not exibit the oversteering of its larger cousins, but it does have plenty of open road power, especially the passing gear, and its style is very chic and unque ,hence the many compliment I have recieved and the many models I have observed on the road. Chrysler style and looks, for Dodge money.
