A performance R/T model is onboard for 2000. Intrepids get five new colors, new seat fabric in Base models, and added horsepower and torque to ES models powered by the 2.7-liter V6. AutoStick is available with that engine, and ES buyers can order an in-dash CD changer. Tether-ready child-seat anchors have been added behind the rear seat, and cars sold in California meet LEV standards.
- Huge interior, gigantic trunk, available 3.2-liter V6 engine on the ES model, good looks.
- Cheap interior materials, lots of engine and road noise, invisible corners make parking a chore.

So far so good - 2000 Dodge Intrepid
By frank-egny - June 27 - 2:00 amI love this car! At 20000 miles I have had only one minor problem with the car. The bracket that holds the parking brake handle broke and was fixed under warranty. I find most of the complaints about this car true (low roof line, hard to get in, hard to see the corners,strange noise coming from upfront, the window motors start with a big bang) but I still think this car is a really good car over all. No problems with the seals or the A/C or the trany or the steering.

I bought the larger 3.2 engine, have not regretted it as the car has plenty of power.Transmission speed sensor failed under warranty, limp home mode allowed the car to be driven to the dealer. Air conditioner failed at 41,000 miles, Chrysler fixed it under their goodwill policy. I had the exact same A/C problems with my 95 Intrepid. Door Seals have shrunk, will need to fix later. Overall an excellent car, will buy another one.

But people trying to steal it and Im hard on brakes but other than that love it. Great gas miles. Wish I could find another car built like this one. People believe me this car is no lemon. Built to stand with the best Would take this over any sedan

LOVE this car! - 2000 Dodge Intrepid
By techgirl - October 29 - 8:26 pmI have the ES with 3.2L and it really moves. The Autostick feature is impressive for improving acceleration. Trunk space is huge! White gauges are attractive and sound system is more than I expected in a car of this price range. With regards to road noise, I find the Intrepid to be a very quiet ride. And the leg room in the backseat is more than adequate. Its a VERY comfortable vehicle to ride in for the entire family. Overall, a ton of features and performance for a very reasonable price.

No repairs in 145,000 - 2000 Dodge Intrepid
By erics intrepid - May 24 - 5:25 amI just had my first repair besides normal items for an oil leak and the cost was $75.00. Almost traded it in for $800.00 before a second opinion and had it fixed for $75.00. Keeping it and giving to my daughter. Had the car fully evaluated when the repair was done and found nothing wrong at all! Needs front brakes thats it! Great car, never been back to the dealer sine I bought it! 8 years body and mechanical perfect shape, no rust at all. Rides and handles like day one upper 20s on mpg on all highway miles! Two minor items still remain, rear door seal fell off a few years ago and I took it off. Drivers side electric door lock sticking. Looks great, runs great. Another 145,000? Hope so!

Great car ! But? - 2000 Dodge Intrepid
By concerned8 - May 11 - 11:17 pmHi, me and my husband bought this car in 2005. It was a used vehicle the car runs great we love it! But we have experienced a few problems. The starter has been replaced also the battery and now Im being told that the bushing need to be fixed on passenger side. I dont know. A lot of reviews say they only changed tire and brakes and thats it. So I am a little concerned, if I am getting ripped off or the maintenance is really needed. Please if you have any advice let me no or if you have similar car would appreciate your feedback ad opinion of my repairs.

147,000 - 2000 Dodge Intrepid
By 147,000 Miles - May 9 - 2:16 pmI bought my car with 20,000 miles on it. Love the style of the car. In the past year I had a sales job and put 27,000 miles on it in one year. Currently Im at 147,000. This has been the BEST car that I have ever owned. The only thing that I have had to do is regular maintenance. I have run amsoil in the engine and transmission since probably 40,000 miles. Recently I had to have the water pump replaced and that was a very expensive fix since the front of the engine has to be removed. (2.7 engine) When the engine was apart the mechanic said that it was very clean inside, No sludge! I also had to have my inner tie rod bushing replaced. (pothole)

Last of a Great Breed - 2000 Dodge Intrepid
By LoneRanger - March 14 - 3:34 pmTraded in a 1995 for the 2000 ES and what a great choice. Now have over 180,000 miles and have only had to replace the water pump at 110,000. Great roominess, comfort and style. Super MPG for a large car always above 22 and up to 28 on trips. Cant understand why its being discontinued, the 3.2 engine runs great with enough power and durability. Door seals shrunk but that is common, 1 window motor gave out, but everything else has been iron clad. Dodge wake up! The Intrepid was your best car...so aerodynamic and stylish...Im looking for another if I can get one I will grab it!
