This Year's Model Updates:

The 2006 Honda Accord receives freshened interior and exterior styling and mechanical- and feature-related updates. Sharp eyes will notice the Accord's revised fascias and new alloy wheel designs. Minor engine tweaks, including drive-by-wire throttle control, result in a slight bump in horsepower for both the four-cylinder and V6 engine (a more significant development than you might think given the more stringent SAE testing procedures in effect this year). Additionally, the V6 sedan can now be equipped with a six-speed manual transmission, and all V6 models have revised suspension settings, 17-inch alloy wheels and stability control. Last year's DX has been replaced by the VP (Value Package) trim with standard air conditioning and cruise control, and LX V6 and Hybrid models gain a moonroof. The LX Special Edition includes alloy wheels, rear disc brakes and a CD changer. The Accord Hybrid also picks up stability control and a temporary spare tire in place of last year's flat-fix kit. Additionally, the Hybrid model's fuel economy rating drops from 29 city/37 highway to 25/34. Finally, all models get a smart maintenance system and daytime running lamps.

Pros:
  • Roomy and stylish interior with simple controls, tight build quality, smooth ride, refined drivetrains, good crash test scores, strong reputation for reliability, high resale value.
Cons:
  • Tepid handling, brakes should be more powerful. Hybrid model offers no advantage in fuel economy over four-cylinder.

  • Great Work horse 347,000 miles and still going - 2006 Honda Accord

I bought my car new in November of 2005. I drive over 33,000 miles a year (yes I know I am not carbon friendly). Anyway this car has been amazing. Great for the everyday commute and the vacation getaway. I live in the mountains and work in L.A. so most winters I have to run on chains 30-40 minutes each morning and each evening during the winter. Other cars and 4 wheel drive trucks have gotten stuck or crashed but NOT my Honda. In the 347,000 miles I have had very little trouble. I have replaced: right rear wheel bearing (once) one electric fan motor one air conditioning High pressure valve one starter At the 310,000 mile mark she started using a little oil. Now at 347,000 I need to add 1 to 1.5 quarts of oil in between oil changes. I still get 30 mpg and everything- radio, gauges, ac and heater, heated seats still work perfectly. I just looked at new cars and because of there price I am sticking with this one. My mechanic has said "this car rides better than most of the 100,000 mile cars he works on" and because I park underground and clay and wax the car regularly the paint is still in amazing shape. Great Great Car Thank You Honda!!

Over the years I have had many experiences of getting in a car only to find it doesnt start or that there is to be some surprise down the road as I drive - surprises that are inconvenient and costly, specifically, broken parts plus labor. This car has lasted the test of time. I get it in and it always starts. I have maintained it very well. It has 305,000 miles and is still going strong with no major repairs except a new water pump. I hope to go beyond 400,000 miles and believe it will do so. It doesnt have the power it used to but I am gentle with it. Best car I have ever owned. I will NEVER own another GM product again (our familys other two cars).

I have owned 2 honda accords the current one is a 2006 six cylinder. My wife loves it she feels very safe driving it. She got rear ended in our first honda and walked away with out a scratch. I was totally impressed by that. Jim M

We bought this car in 2008 with 15k, it currently has 120k. It has been a fantastically reliable car. Other than normal maintenance the only thing Ive had to repair was the starter. I do all my own work and it has been a very easy car to work on. Changing the timing belt, it has the easiest to read timing marks of any car Ive worked on. Its those little things that you dont usually see that tell you it has had a lot of engineering put into it and it shows. I fully expect this car to last for another 120k easily.

Ive had my 2006 Accord for almost a year now and I LOVE IT. It looks great (2-door coupe) and sporty with tinted windows, moon roof, and the dual exhaust. The inside is all leather and wood trim, it looks fantastic and is extremely comfortable. My only complaint is I wish it was easier to get into the back seat from the drivers side. But if I was that worried about it I would have gotten a 4-door car. I had to drive it in some Seattle snow and it handled great. I wish the stereo had Bluetooth but I guess its a little old for that. Besides that it sounds good. I feel this car looks a lot better inside and out than a lot of newer cars just coming out.

Bought the my Accord in 2009 with 30k miles, it now has 134k miles. I use it to commute to work. I have never had to do any work other the maintenance. Its fun to drive and gets great mpg. I bought my car from a dealership and its lowered. I love the look and style. Roomy interior to par. I have 2 more payments till its paid for. Im seriously debating to buy another newer Acura or just keep driving this one.

We purchased our Honda Accord SE in May 2013. It is amazing - with great fuel economy, impeccable build quality, and outstanding reliability. It starts flawlessly in -40 C weather and smoothly rushes to redline when its driven hard. Although the steering is light, it is communicative and direct. This is one of the best Honda vehicles we have ever owned - next to my 1996 bare-bones Canadian Civic LX 5MT (DX in the US) Sedan.

Got a new job where Im on the road a lot, so I needed a comfortable, reliable car -- but I wanted something with some luxury and sportiness! Oh, and I only had a used-car budget. I found my EX-L V6 coupe with only 57k miles on it, and man, I just love it. How does Honda make their V6 so smooth? When I mat the gas, it gets up and goes, and the engine never sounds thrashy or strained. And the handling is good for a front-driver - it doesnt bob or float, and though the ride is firm, its not punishing.

The best car I have had overall. Very reliable. Like any other car you must maintain it & it will last a lifetime. There are minor flaws/cons with it like any other car such as the clear coat scratches easy, minor rattles in the door, steering is very tight. Pros are gas mileage is okay, built to last, no major issues, and leather seats have held up very well. I havent had anything annoying or major happen. Ive just maintained the car and not had any issues. I wish it had an AUX port and I wish it was AWD like some of Acuras cars like it. The biggest pro for me is the really tight steering but the pros out weigh the cons for sure. Overall worth the money
