This Year's Model Updates:

The 2006 Honda Accord receives freshened interior and exterior styling and mechanical- and feature-related updates. Sharp eyes will notice the Accord's revised fascias and new alloy wheel designs. Minor engine tweaks, including drive-by-wire throttle control, result in a slight bump in horsepower for both the four-cylinder and V6 engine (a more significant development than you might think given the more stringent SAE testing procedures in effect this year). Additionally, the V6 sedan can now be equipped with a six-speed manual transmission, and all V6 models have revised suspension settings, 17-inch alloy wheels and stability control. Last year's DX has been replaced by the VP (Value Package) trim with standard air conditioning and cruise control, and LX V6 and Hybrid models gain a moonroof. The LX Special Edition includes alloy wheels, rear disc brakes and a CD changer. The Accord Hybrid also picks up stability control and a temporary spare tire in place of last year's flat-fix kit. Additionally, the Hybrid model's fuel economy rating drops from 29 city/37 highway to 25/34. Finally, all models get a smart maintenance system and daytime running lamps.

Pros:
  • Roomy and stylish interior with simple controls, tight build quality, smooth ride, refined drivetrains, good crash test scores, strong reputation for reliability, high resale value.
Cons:
  • Tepid handling, brakes should be more powerful. Hybrid model offers no advantage in fuel economy over four-cylinder.

  • 3-Year Review - Excellent Car! - 2006 Honda Accord
    By -

I have owned this car for 3 years - highly dependable, reliable and comfortable. I use this car to commute in the brutal DC area traffic. Great acceleration (V6), braking and maneuverability. Gas mileage could be better - 22 city/28 hwy. As others have noted, there are occasional problems with the 3rd gear synch on the manual transmission, the cars only flaw. This is my 3rd Accord great performance and reliability for the price!

I own 2002 accord and I love it. This 2006 model is great too. I am finding the fuel economy close to the 2.3l in the 2002 if I dont drive it hard. But its nice to have that extra Hp from the V6 when you need it on demand. I am very impressed with it. I am not sure why it did not come with side moldings, that would prevent a lot of door dings from other parked cars . But overall I am very pleased with this used car with only 42,000 km on it.

Purchased my 2006 Accord LX Cope, 5-29- 10, This was a pre owned with a one previous owner. I fill that I got the best deal possible. I have driven it only about 80 miles so far. But it is great car, Drove over a few rough roads with no rattles. Great Looks, love the moon roof, cd player, power seats, 17" wheels. Lots of get up and go. Havent driven it enough to tell about the Miles per gallon. Hopefully the v6 will provide that. In the past I have owned a Toyota Camry and a Nissan maxima. After one day of ownership I can say that the Honda is the better car.

  • My 325,000 mile 91 RS is the better car - 2006 Honda Accord

The 5-speed 4 cylinder is fun to drive. Good acceleration and handling for fwd. Reliability - exhaust shield rattled dealer fixed, outlets failed cant charge phone & gps at the same time unlike every other car Ive owned. 43,000 miles computer failed and put me on the side of the road 125 miles from home. None of my GM cars have broke down on the side of the road with less than 200,000+ miles on them. Honda replace ECM under warranty. Lots of feathers, great comfort, pretty & tasteful styling. Quality and "impression" of quality outstanding, actual quality well below expectations. Wouldnt have the auto with the 4-banger.

  • Takes a licking! - 2006 Honda Accord

I bought this accord brand new in Monrovia. The only problem I had was cheap arm rest had came unattached and the brake rotors would warp after excessive freeway usage. No other problems with the car from day one until totaled. I do have to say this is a safe car. First accident was striking a box spring and spare tire on the highway ripped front bumper right off. 2nd accident totaled car, rear end impact at 50 mph! Was able to walk out of the car shaken up and unhurt. I would have to say I would buy another Honda Accord when the time for me to buy another car comes around. its a good everyday car to run around, commute, errands, or go out in. Good price for the piece of mind.

  • Think I am going to Hyundai - 2006 Honda Accord

I bought my Accord new in 2007. The car went into the dealership to have rear driver door adjusted due to air & water leak and also a faulty center console door shortly after the purchase. Both were repaired & are fine now. The car has not given me any other mechanical problems. Just the normals replaced battery, tires, and brakes. Approaching 100k so not sure how much longer I will keep this car for. Even though I like the styling of the latest Accords, there seems to be the same cheap interior Honda is & has been known for. I will probably switch over to Hyundai since theyve come a long ways & are winning awards these days!

  • Safety in a crash - 2006 Honda Accord

I appreciated my 2006 Honda accord Ex 4 cyl. for its comfort and fuel economy-consistently 30 mpg- better on the highway, but the best part was when I was in a serious front end collision in which the front crumpled and absorbed the impact and the airbag did the rest-I was fine. I recommend the Honda accord! I now drive a 2007 of the same model.

  • Good Daily Commuter - 2006 Honda Accord

Had the car for 4 years now. Very reliable, great mileage. It has a few creaks & rattles, but this is not a top-of-the-line luxury car, just good solid transportation.

  • Great Car! - 2006 Honda Accord

I still have this car as it is hard to turn it back in since its a lease. Ive not had one problem with it (Very Reliable)! Just the regular maintenance. I would recommend this car to anyone! Its been one of my favorites. You can never go wrong with buying a Honda!

  • 25mpg in town, 38mpg hwy - 1 complaint - 2006 Honda Accord
    By -

I have owned more than 10 Honda/Acuras over 30+ years. My 2006 Accord is way up as #1 or #2. My 1996 Accord has 215k and still sings. I am really surprised @ the power & MPG combo from my 2006. I AVERAGE 25mpg around town consistently with my 2.4 (4-cy)2006. I average 34 MPG on the highway, and I drive ~ 75-80mph on cruise. Hwy varies ~ 33mpg(lowest)-38mpg(highest). Honda Engineering, Quality, and made in U.S.A.!!
