Overview & Reviews
Two new trim levels join the Jetta lineup for 2006: the upscale 2.0T and the sporty GLI. Both feature a 200-hp, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, and both can be equipped with VW's trick DSG direct shift gearbox. All Jettas besides the Value Edition now feature standard alloy wheels, and torso-protecting rear-seat side airbags are newly optional.

Best Damn Volkswagen Period - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By jbmill33 - August 20 - 10:40 pmI never thought Id fall in love with a car, but the 06 VW Jetta TDI weve purchased come very close to a love affair. It takes corners on rain-slickened Oregon roads masterfully. The MPG has exceeded what was printed on the sticker, I get nearly 50 mpg!

Sweet Ride - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By sean9 - July 27 - 10:23 pmThe Volkswagen Jetta TDI is an all round fantastic car to drive. It delivers amazing preformance for a small 100 HP engine and you have loads of power at highway speeds! Plus the great added space in the back seats and truck make life that much easier compared to older year models of the Jetta.

Best Jetta Yet! - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By Michael B - July 25 - 12:56 pmI have had many VWs in the past and the 2006 Volkswagen Jetta 2.5 is by far the best Jetta yet. I came from a Golf TDI and was weary of going back to a gas enginem but so far it is a great, solid engine. Its gas mileage is comparable to previous models, which is impresive since the 06 Jetta is more powerful and a bigger car. I will reccomend this vehicle to everyone.

New VW Jetta - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By Jason B - July 14 - 2:53 amI am really happy with my VW Jetta. It handles great in the snow and I feel very safe driving it. It could get better gas milage but all in all I would recommend this car to anyone. Once you drive it youll never want anything else.

The BEST Car Ever - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By Jess - July 7 - 10:03 pmEvery day I spend with my 2006 Volkswagen Jetta GLI, the more I love it! It is an absolutely awesome vehicle any way I look at it. Not only is it amazingly safe (the first car ever to get a 100 in the side impact crash test, and the first car ever to receive a good rating in every single category), its also very economical, fun, luxurious and sporty. I cant think of anything that VW left out that you could want in a car. You get so much for your money...beautiful interior (both leather and cloth are unique), spunky rims, 6 disc CD changer, a superior engine, power everything, steering wheel controls, and all this comes standard! The new huge and automatic trunk is also very convenient.

Love this car - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By soldonit - July 5 - 2:10 amI looked at every make in this price range and nothing came close to the fun factor, standard equipment, right size, and build quality of the Jetta. I havent owned a VW since high school (many many years ago) but love this car like the old VW Beetle that I had then.

Excellent Car - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By Kayak - June 5 - 9:56 amI love this car. I had a 2002 Jetta, but outgrew it and did not like the cup holders on top of the radio which managed to get everything wet. Also, there was no room in the backseats and in the end the car had engine problems even after I had taken the car in twice to be repaired. I feel that the 2006 is more sophisticated on the outside and inside and roomier. It also has much better cup holders and other features plus more room in the back . It has better handling, a smoother, more solid ride, and a more powerful engine, even in the 2.5 trim. It is just a more "grown-up" car all around.

Jetta Rocks - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By Phil Tackett - May 24 - 1:30 pmThe car handles extremely well. The 2.5L engine has plenty of power for the every day driver. I like the positioning of the controls. A little feature that is handy is the lane change indicators that blink three times by just tapping the turn signal lever in the appropriate direction.

New to the VW Family and Loving It - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By VW for Life - May 5 - 9:13 amAfter not even remotely considering a Jetta. I took co-workers suggestions and took one for a test drive. I absolutely fell in love with the car. It handles well and the features that come standard are amazing. I looked at a Ford Fusion and Toyota Camry and the Jetta surpassed them all. Not to mention the sales service that I received were excellent. This was by far the best car buying experience that I have had. I am definitely a VW Jetta fan for life. I love my Jet-Jet.

Former BMW Owner Converted Forever... - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By Billy Austin - May 3 - 4:46 amI cant say enough about how this car has exceeded my expectations. It is better appointed, more comfortable, roomier and far less expensive to maintain than the three previous BMW 325s I owned. I lose only a small amount of performance and handling, but gain an overall hands down winner in value. This car gets almost exactly double the gas mileage 45 mpg vs. 22 mpg overall in the BMW. The repair bills for routine maintenance are a fraction of the insulting BMW bills I paid regularly. I never thought I would be willing to give up the driving experience I enjoyed with BMW. The Jetta is so close but I choose it as my preference with price not being a factor.
