Two new trim levels join the Jetta lineup for 2006: the upscale 2.0T and the sporty GLI. Both feature a 200-hp, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, and both can be equipped with VW's trick DSG direct shift gearbox. All Jettas besides the Value Edition now feature standard alloy wheels, and torso-protecting rear-seat side airbags are newly optional.

  Try and buy it - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

  I have tried almost all of the new 2006 sedans in the same price range. The Jetta was the last one. So I try the Jetta 2.0T...after 5 miles my decision was made. I cant get out of this car. This car is just the deal of the year. Almost all the new techonology is made for the driver. The engine is superb and brakes are powerfull. ESP is very helpfull and it is a great safety feature, and the DSG transmission makes you feel like a super driver. The interior is well designed and comfort is like many other pricy cars. I have had no problems with my Jetta. People that rate this cars build quality and reliability less than 9 should list the problems they had. Facts talk better than imagination.

  This is a great car - the only drawbacks are its limited number features. You cant order an 06 model at this point so had to take what I could get. It is still a great car that looks good and is great on fuel. Its acceleration is definetly there, though it takes a little while to get going from a dead stop. It has plenty of acceleration so long as you arent racing.

  My TDI is just unbelievable. I have maintained MPG of 38-40 city/41-46 hwy. I truly believe that it runs better in cooler weather. Had never owned a VW before and I was a little skeptical. Not anymore. I have had to answer many questions at the pump from curious onlookers. Smooth ride with great handling. Replaced tires at about 31K with a 4 set of Goodyear. My wife drives the Mercedes Bluetec Diesel and whenever I tell my kids that we are leaving to go somewhere I will say to go and get in the "best" car. The get immediately in the Jetta. Go VW.

  I am staggered by the negative reviews, because that in no way been my experience. With 90,000 miles and counting, I have only had to replace two light bulbs and a brake master cylinder – thats everything since I bought the car in 2005.5. The highway MPGs are consistently above 35-36 without any effort. The car is incredibly comfortable and handles very well for a FWD car. I frequently take it up to the mountain for snow activities without traction tires or chains, and it takes is like a champ – trucks look stunned when I pass them effortlessly. Incredibly safe, reliable, and cheap to own and run – Ill certainly buy another one (I have my eye on a TDI SportWagen).

  I purchased the GLI just over two weeks ago, and I have put over a thousand miles on it because I cant stop driving it. I love the way the car handles, performs, and looks. You get a real German sports car feeling with the GLI that just cant be matched for the price. The car seems to have endless power, and handles like its on rails. I bought the base model with the plaid cloth, and had the dealer install the iPod adapter, and feel that Im not missing a thing. I have owned many Hondas, and traded a 2005 Altima for the GLI, and there is just no comparison.

  I searched for a replacement car for quite awhile and having been out of the new car market for years, I was shocked to see how much technology has changed and how much I have been missing. The newly designed Volkswagen Jetta captured my interest and heart right away with its snazzy new style, front grille and tail lamps. But moreover, it was the interior comfort and quality that was noticeable compared to the competition. The car is a blast to drive, it has power and zips around to make it fun and enjoyable. I felt the overall value for the quality and integrity of the car made it an obvious choice for me. I realized I didnt have to bust the bank to get a great new car.

  It is probably the best car I ever owned. Comfort, reliability, and yes, MPG! I do take pictures from time to time to show people and even drive around some skeptical colleagues. I do get on a highway about 52-53 mpg ! yes, that is right, not a typo, and about 45- 47 in the city. It has pickup, torque, fast acceleration (you can drive in manual too) and is real good quality made.

  The 2006 Volkswagn Jetta Value Edition is an excelent car for its price. It comes standard with a lot of extras and has a wonderfull triptonic transmission.

  I had a 2003 Hyundai Tiburon GT 6 speed before I traded it in for my new Jetta. This car is such an amazing car for the money! Its comfortable, quiet, and handles great! This car is amazing on the highway. It definitely holds its own.

  so alot of people have been complaining about the cam and dual mass flywheel problems on this car, frankly ive had none of those issues. i purchased mine second hand with low mileage, im not at 170,000k and the only problem ive had was a rad hose broke roughly about 6 months ago. frankly i got the extended warranty with the car and never had to use it, actually never had to use my warranty on any of my past VWs. i keep coming back to the brand (4th one now) because frankly dollar for dollar you cant find anything quite comparable from ford, hyundai, nissan, mazda... ect. i love this car and all of my previous Vws never had any problem and i swear by these cars. truly an amazing brand.
