This Year's Model Updates:

Two new trim levels join the Jetta lineup for 2006: the upscale 2.0T and the sporty GLI. Both feature a 200-hp, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, and both can be equipped with VW's trick DSG direct shift gearbox. All Jettas besides the Value Edition now feature standard alloy wheels, and torso-protecting rear-seat side airbags are newly optional.

The 2006 Volkswagen Jetta TDI is a really a fun car to drive. It has excellent handling, and is a very good looking automobile. I may have a problem getting used to puting in only 12 gallons of fuel and going over 500 miles. Our firt tank yeilded 44 mpg. Its almost like having a hybrid. I love the large trunk and fold down back seats, although my wife wont let me haul 2x4s yet. (maybe someday). I also like the ride, our last car was a Caddy, and we are really impressed how comfortable the smaller car was. Also, the instruments are well thought out and beautiful at night. The light combination is very striking. I love the safety rating too, althought I havnt tested it. Hope I never have too. I love it.

Overall great car for daily commuter! Everything someone could need in a great small car package! I drive 500 miles a week and would want nothing else.

I am not too crazy about the way the VW has killed off the old Jetta look, and made it look like a Corolla - but it still looks pretty nice, just not unique. I get about 24-25 mpg in the city, 30 on the highway. Its interior is excellent as always with the VW. I have had a few very minor problems that my incompetent dealer managed to turn into a whole week affair.

  • The new Jetta is awesome - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

My Jetta is actually the 2005, but the 06 style, so it came with all the cool features like the auto wipers. This car gets awesome mileage and handles like a real German car should. I have always been an American car guy, but this car is incredible and the price is great for the car you get.

  • So far so good - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

I owned a 2002 Jetta, and had many problems with it. I was pretty hesitant to buy another VW, but the dealer sucked me in, and the new Jetta seemed solid, so I took a chance. So far, I have been very pleased. The car has many standard features, and people think I spent more on it than I did. I also (knock on wood) have had no reliability issues at all. The car has been great.

I took my 2003 Jetta for a check up and ended up buying the 2006 model, The best thing is that VW moved the cup holders from above the radio, Now you can change stations when you have a drink in the holder. My Jettas gas mileage is great. I like the leather, power sunroof XM radio, 6 disc CD changer, and airbags galore.

  • Jetta GLI, Better Balue than MB, BMW, and Audi - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

I will be blunt. I had a MB C320 Coupe that had nothing but electrical problems. A friend had an Audi A4. It was a great car, but expensive. My sister has a new BMW 335i, it is an excellent ride but costs $46,000 (rip off). I let all these people drive my Jetta GLI, and they all wanted to independently trade their cars in for mine. The performance is outstanding for a front wheel drive set up, the interior screams high quality, and the power at high speeds is incredible. You can read countless articles praising this car. Its a great German machine!

  • VW - Wow! - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

It is all there, but the fun, well its actually a bit of fun, but not like my Miata. Wonderful sedan that can carry a foursome with clubs on a short trip. The ride, handling, fit and finish, everything is tight and first class. No problems and great mileage! Average about 40 mpg with mixed travel and about 50 mpg on a trip with cruise @ 80 mph. Had a SunBug back in the early 70s and this is not anything close. This is tight German craftsmanship at its best and a decent price point. We have two. I drive a manual and my wife drives an automatic. We will buy VW diesel again in about 15-20 years when these have 300K.

  • My first VW - and its a diesel! - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

I never would have thought about buying anything but a Honda, but the interior drivers space is becoming poorly designed. A friend told me about the Jetta TDI. Wow! I am an aggressive driver. I drive in mixed traffic 100 miles a day and I get 37 mpg. On the highway, 41 mpg. My wife drives slower and gets 38/42+. We love this car! It is designed for a 6 driver. It seats a 66 person comfortably in the passenger seat. This is the first car I have actually enjoyed driving in quite some time. 26K in 8 months with no problems but one tire.
