This Year's Model Updates:

Two new trim levels join the Jetta lineup for 2006: the upscale 2.0T and the sporty GLI. Both feature a 200-hp, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, and both can be equipped with VW's trick DSG direct shift gearbox. All Jettas besides the Value Edition now feature standard alloy wheels, and torso-protecting rear-seat side airbags are newly optional.

  • Huge Bang for your Buck - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

The standard features on the new Jetta seem endless. I was on a budget, so I bought the base model, and I am still discovering new features. Volkswagen designs their cars specifically for the driver. Volkswagen is to the automobile industry what Apple is to the computer industry. Its not a machine to get from one point to another, it is an experience to make the journey as exciting as the destination.

  • 2006 VW Jetta TDI hits the Sweet Spot - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

I have had my 2006 VW Jetta TDI for about three weeks now and absolutely love it. My dealer was very knowledgeable, but the VW standard for service is clearly not as high as that of other dealers. For example, my car arrived with only one working key, and it was a valet key. I had to wait a week for new keys, and the dealer kept my car for three days to program the keys when they arrived. But I had a loaner just like my car so I did not care. If you want a VW, you have to be willing to accept a lower standard of service. It comes with the territory. However, the car itself is outstanding. Its too soon to know about its reliability, but in all other regards, it is an absolute beauty.

  • Forget about Japanese cars, get a GLI ! - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

6 months ago, I was searching for a new car and thinking to get a Honda Civic SI, Nissan Altima 3.5L OR a Toyota Camry V6. However, I saw someone drove a new GLI and amazed with how beautiful the car was. I owned a VW Golf 2.0L and it was an OK car for me, not too impressed by it. Then, I decided to test drive a GLI and fell in love right away! Forget about those Japanese cars which are built by old grandma non-virgin metal! Thats why they are cheap! Get a real car under $30,000, complete w/ Package 2 GLI and youll never regret it. The car is superb, comes with high quality interior, sweet looking exterior and excellent performance. I dont like it, I love it!

  • Love My Jetta! - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

This car replaced my 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The fuel savings alone covers half of my car payment. It has a great sound system / 6 disc CD / sirius radio, sporty suspension, is fun to drive, and it accelerates as well or better than my previous V8 Jeep. It ran slightly rough for the first 5,500 miles or so, but now it is very smooth. I have the leatherette (faux leather) seats, they look great and hold up well to my dog. The heated seats are wonderful in the cold weather. I bought an aftermarket GPS system and keep it on the dash instead of opting for the factory installed version. Its cheaper and portable if we take a different car for trips - though with the great MPGs, and the comfort on long trips, we rarely do!

Only one defect that needed to be corrected. Electrical connection in sat. radio. Car is very enjoyable and comfortable even with 64" frame.

  • What a Great Automobile! - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

Having had two Audis with little luck, I purchased my 2006 Jetta TDI with a bit of hesitation. However I loved the new design and the diesel mileage. I have had the Jetta for two months now and am thoroughly impressed with it in all respects - ride, leg room, fuel economy [43-54mpg], color [exterior- seafoam; interior-beige leather]. It has the amenities of the Audis without the issues. The ride is great, it has lots of safety features, a plush interior and the design is perfect. Id looked at standard cars - Nissan, Toyota, Honda, Suburu - both hybrids and gasoline for a couple of months but could not settle for any of them. When I saw the new Jetta I knew immediately that was the car. Try it!

  • Awesome Car - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

I have to disagree with all the bad press this car has been getting. The car, for one, does not look Japanese in anyway. It looks very European, and very Germanic, especially in the Reflex Silver I have. Every time I look at it, I think, "Wow, it really does look like a $30,000 car, and drives like it for that matter." The engine is smooth and torquey, unlike the reports Ive read, with an I6 sound, and the clutch is light and easy to use, but still has enough feel to put it on the sporty side. The handling feels great to me, although I havent had the chance to really push it. It feels very tied down, though, with great solidity of structure and a very buttoned down highway ride.

  • Best car Ive owned - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

I bought this car in March of 2006 in Anchorage for touring around the state, and we love this car. In 4 years, we performed the recommended maintenance and put fuel in it, with no issues! Driving around 55-60 mph on the highways around Anchorage, we averaged 47-50 mpg. When we shipped it to Seattle and then drove it back to Texas, we average 48 mpg at 75 mph and then 46 mpg at 80-85 mph (on I-10 through West Texas). I made it from Gilbert, AZ to Fort Stockton, TX on a single tank of fuel driving 80 mph most of the way!

  • Best Car Ever! - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

Im 20, and I purchased this car as a present to myself before I go to college. Ive had a 2000 Ford Focus, 2002 Ford Explorer, 2002 Pontiac Sunfire, and a 2002 Ford Escape. This has to be the BEST so far. I would recommend this car to ANYONE.

  • Jetta has been good to me - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
    By -

My 2nd Jetta and 4th VW. Love the tight feel and handling of this Jetta more than my past 98 Cabrio, 00 Jetta and 85 GTI. Drives awesome and even good in snow. Wish mileage was a little better, but its not bad. The std options w/ my model are sweet (pwr snrf, AC, leather, pwr evythg). Always felt the build & finish were fine; knobs are sturdy, glove box doesnt break in winter (like my 00 did) and window clips are sturdy. $80 oil changes at dlr are a drag, yes, but skip those when u can at Jiffylube! All in all a great car w/ good looks, features. will cost a bit more at tune-up times ($700+ at 40K) but well worth the fun of driving this daily.
