  • Major Improvement Over Previous Models - 2005 Toyota Tacoma

Ive had Toyota trucks for most of my adult life and have been disappointed by the lack of amenities in past versions. But, the 2005 version makes a huge leap forward. Im now getting up into my late 40s and looking for a more refined truck thats reliable. The Titan actually had everything I was looking for. However, its ride was sub par and I could actually see the gas gage needle drop as I test drove it. Ive always had a manual trans since I tend to be a control freak. But didnt like the Tacoma’s 6-spd (too many gears for all that power). I must say I have fallen in love w/ the auto – it’s a nice setup that I drive like a stick (designed by someone w/ a brain). I do recommend it.

Smooth riding and big truck feel. Not a gas saving vehicle and only uses premium gasoline (more expensive).

This is my first truck and ownership has been alot of fun. It is getting used for its intended purpose, road trips and hauling. Definitely a head turner.

Well, I havent bought one yet, but I drove it yesterday. I loved the 6- speed and the 4.0 V6, but the interior still seems cramped to me and my long legs (Im only 62"). Maybe Im not used to the high floor of a truck, but I dont see why my knees should be hitting both the steering wheel and the weird emergency brake handle sticking out of the dash. The seat doesnt go lower and the wheel was at its highest positon. I sat in a Colorado that didnt have this problem, but Im so nervous about buying a Chevy I might have to settle for the Tacomas tight drivers seat. On the plus side, I dont agree with the editor here who said the shifter was awkward - it, and the clutch, worked great!

  • Truck Bed - 2005 Toyota Tacoma

I love my truck but i have one problem, no lumber rack will fit on the new tacoma! want to know why? the new composit bed. Rack-It from SS CA, told me the bed will crak and fail. So what to do now? Like i said for hauling everyday dirt and small toys not a prob, but for get the avid weekend do-it yourselfer fenceing projects and long timber runs to lowes or home depot.

  • Third Toyota! - 2005 Toyota Tacoma

This is my third Toyota Truck. Ive owned a 92 standard, a 01 Tundra, and now this one. I cant imagine a better overall vehicle! I own a courier service, and Im planning on appearing in one of those "I got 500,000 miles and Im still rolling!" ads. The new 2.7 engine is a marvel; it feels more powerful than the 3.4 six in my Tundra. I have no doubt this truck will do everything I ask and more!

Great truck! This truck is a real head turner and a conversation piece. I purchased this truck after owning a chev ZR2 and there is not even a comparison between the two.

Would have rathered a Tundra but still very much satisified with my Tacoma Prerunner. The seats seem to be coming apart. TRD Sport

I really loved the truck and still do this is my second Tacoma. After I bought the truck I realized that it was making a noise. I brought my truck to my dealer to fix the problem. After the 3rd attempt of trying to get the truck fixed they finally told me that they would change the shock in the back. I was happy until I picked up the truck and there was a new shock on and I drive it down the road and hit a little bump to find out that it was still there well to end this I was told that toyota has a new shock on their tacomas and that is just the noise that it makes and trust me it is very easy to hear and very disappointing. I do hope they fix this problem quickly.

  • A step up from 2004 in most respects - 2005 Toyota Tacoma

Great truck all around. I stepped up from a 2004 PreRunner. Great engine, easy to maintain. Very comfortable for long trips and capable off-road. Composite bed limits the choices for aftermarket parts (lumber rack, some covers, some tool boxes, etc.) but is great for most hauling applications. This is our new "family" vehicle.
