Great buy - 2005 Toyota Tacoma
By Joseph - January 19 - 5:40 pmMake it short and sweet. I bought my taco used with exactly 20000 miles on it. I was an All-American car buyer until this vehicle and still doubted the value when I got it (Great Deal on the buy). Since Ive gotten the truck Ive put 36,000+ on it and never done anything other then oil changes. I literally love this truck more and more everyday I drive it. I would recommend it to anyone looking to buy a 4dr truck. Gets great gas mileage for a truck; has plenty of power on the street and off roading. Ive only owned 4x4s(3 Jeeps, Explorer, F150 & 250, Blazer), and this is definitely one of the best Ive owned. All around great buy.

By Zak - January 3 - 11:00 pmWhen I first purchased the car I was amazed at the size. Prior to purchasing I was only able to view the 4-cylinder 2 wheel drive models. Let me say that the 4-wheel drive Pre-runner V6 looks more like the size of a F-150 then anything else. The front end of this baby is intimidating. The grill looks hard and the fog lights are well placed. The skid plate on the underbody is shown off to make an amazing looking front end that anyone will be jealous over as you drive down the road. The power in this truck is very pleasing. The 245 horses under the hood give great pick up and the torque is great for getting out of any tough situation (and I mean TOUGH)

By Greg - December 30 - 9:53 amIve driven 51000 mi. with only oil changes and nothing else needed so far. The interior has superior fit and finish, and in the Michigan winters it makes not a peep, and is a testament to the build quality. Great styling turns heads, and I still get compliments after 4+yrs. With half city and half hwy driving I get 17.5mpg in the winter and 20.8mpg in the summer. Nothing has ever failed to work, and it climbs like a billy goat off-road. When I push the accelerator-it moves like all get out; feels like a V8 (a powerful V8).

disappointed - 2005 Toyota Tacoma
By centralcal - December 24 - 3:13 amI cant believe how dissappointed I am with Toyota with this truck. I have never felt the need to post anything on any web site, but have done so on both the 05 Taco board and here tonight. This truck is not toyota quality. It is noisy and unrefined. Do not accept mediocrity. The engine noise is dreadful, the wind noise is not good. Drive a Tundra or a 4R and you will see what I mean. The ride is very pleasant from a suspension standpoint. The interior and stereo are excellent. I would bet this truck undergoes some changes (more sound buffering, better options), so do not buy this edition unless you have to.

FUN AT LAST - 2005 Toyota Tacoma
By mike M - December 22 - 3:13 pmThis is an exceptional vehicle for the price. The 6 cylinder engine and the torque gives it alot of power. The ride is smooth. The gas mileage on the highway is a litte over 20 mpg while traveling between 65-75 mph. The sliding cargo divider for the bed is a great option. I would recommend this vehicle to anyone. Only draw back is the unavailability of a toneau style bed cover with pistons. There is no where to attach the cover with the design of the composite cargo box,

By Trips - December 16 - 3:13 pmWhat a great truck. Its beatiful, fun to drive and will probably last forever. Great acceleration, nice braking and handling. I got the upgraded JBL stereo and it sounds great. TRD sport package with the scoop on the hood looks killer. Fuel mileage is pretty good. I do a lot of in city driving and usually average around 18mpg, probably would be better if didnt like letting all horsepower loose. Its just so darn quick that I have to open it up every chance I get. Im heading to Florida this week so Ill test the highway mileage to see if I get the advertised 22 mpg.

TRD Off Road Package #2 (OG) - 2005 Toyota Tacoma
By Jim - November 4 - 8:36 amI have only had this truck a week and have 700 miles on it. It was pretty hard to get a 4X4 down here in Southern California. I had been searching about a month. When FINALLY a white one with the TRD Off Road package #2 (OG) hit ONE dealership. I took it up to Big Bear yesterday to check out the low range gearing and to try out the magic "Locker Button" (the rear differential lock). All went well and I am pretty happy with the truck so far. I figure mileage will improve some when the truck has a few thousand more miles on it. Its closer to 17 than 20 mpg. I am glad I waited for the white paint, I feel it looks better than the silver that they seem to be pumping out of the factory.

Not as impressed as I thought Id be - 2005 Toyota Tacoma

My experience with this one has been not as satisfactory as past. 7000 kms - all 4 hubs fell off. 14000 kms transmission needed replacing. 90 000 A/C compressor done and needs replacing- not under warranty and rare for this to go so early-very expensive part. Want to sell but dont want others to take on these issues if still to come. Toyota customer service was less than satisfactory on helping me with these issues. So surprised due to previous experience with Toyota. :(
