  • So far so good - 2003 Toyota Matrix

I bought this Matrix about two months ago with 175,000 miles on it for my daily 400 mile courier route and its been great - so far. Since a 200 mile leg allows me to drive at only 55 mph, I net almost 33 mpg across the entire route - which is better than I expected. The car rides great, runs smooth, and shifts easily so its been a pleasure to drive.

  • Good Car - 2003 Toyota Matrix

Once again Toyota has built a reliable good car. The Matrix XRS is useful in so many ways but still fun to drive. Finally a wagon that doesnt feel like an old fashion station wagon.

Worth every penny. Rock solid econohauler. Cheap materials inside, easily scratched but easy to care for. Gauges difficult to read in bright sun, nearly invisible. Lawsuit waiting to happen.

Have had my indigo blue 4WD XR for 4 mos. now and love the thing. Pouring rain does not affect the handling of this car - you just ride on through. The seats are comfortable but the gas pedal is set too high. Huge cargo area - we take this car instead of our SUV camping.

  • Great small wagon - 2003 Toyota Matrix

I am very satisfied with my silver Matrix. Ive had this car for six weeks and have driven over 3200 miles!!! The Matrix is no sports car, but its handling is very responsive. The engine is a bit sluggish, but hey, what can you expect for a compact car...The 35 mpg that I got on recent road trip more than makes up for that. I also love that car is deceptively spacious - several friends and family members have commented on how roomy it is...Overall, I highly recommend this car.

  • Great Little Car - 2003 Toyota Matrix

I bought this car for the mileage and style. I got the Radiant Red exterior, and coupled with aluminum wheels and the red gauges it reminds me of my old 1979 Honda CBX motorcycle, only more practical.

  • Great car except for the transmission :( - 2003 Toyota Matrix
    By -

I have found it to have just enough power, just enough size. I can fit anything in it. Its very comfortable on long trips. The manual transmission makes it nice to drive, since the engine is a bit small, but the great gas mileage more than makes up for it. But I dont trust it. Since the transmission failed at 108,000km with no explanation from Toyota, I am always worried that it will fail again, or that some other bearings will fail and leave me stranded, so for the last six months its been stressful to take this car on a longer trip. Theres nothing worse than not "trusting" your car! All in all, I love my Matrix, but I dont trust it.

Cool car ! Deceiving looks!! Good for singles, small family. Underpowered a little bit. Weak suspension?
