  • Excellent buy, fine build from Toyota - 2003 Toyota Matrix

Purchased at 90K, have put about 6k on it since, including several long drive up I-5. Fuel economy is wonderful, I average more like 30 on the street and 32-35 highway. Of course the interior is a little cheap, but its a Toyota, not a Lexus. The clutch is smooth and so is the transmission, no bearing failures here, despite an abusive previous owner. I have had an issue with the driver side window falling down into the channel: a piece of the window sealing rubber had been pinched inside the channel. Toyota replaced it no problems. The storage capacity is where its at; it is a Camry chassis with 3-4x the amount of storage space. Has been a very reliable and economical ride for myself

  • I love my Matrix - 2003 Toyota Matrix

Matrix easily accessible by elderly, handles with outstanding control on curves as well as on slippery surfaces; excellent vision from drivers seat both of road and of dashboard for short people. Unique appearance creates a vehicle that is fun to drive and comfortable. Backseat acessible and comfortable for seniors and for toddlers in booster seats. Cargo compartment accomodates shopping trips for five.

  • WISH I HAD GOTTEN A MURANO(NISSAN) - 2003 Toyota Matrix

I WISH I HAD GOTTEN A MURANO FOR THE MONEY, IT IS A NICE CAR BUT DOES NOT HAVE VERY GOOD PICK=UP AND IT HAS POOR CRAFTMANSHIP ... THING RATTLE WHEN DRIVING.GLOVE COMPRTMT, SEATS AND A LOT OF OUTSIDE NOISE. MY OLD CAR WAS A VOLVO OF 10 YRS.

  • Gets the job done - 2003 Toyota Matrix

I just had my car break down on me, the dealership had it for a week because they couldnt figure out the problem. IT was the VVTI sensor and the oil pan sensor. I was pretty upset considering my car only has 17,000 miles on it. The gas mileage is definitely not right. All in all I have been pretty happy with this car. I love the way it drives.

  • A Good Overall Car - 2003 Toyota Matrix
    By -

The Toyota Matrix is a very well thought out vehicle. The electronics and comfort controls inside the vehicle are easy to use and at easy reachand see. The exteior styling is unique and resembles nothing else forged by Toyota. This car is fun to drive and has given me no real problems. The only downside to the vehicle is that it does not perform extremely well in accidents. I was involved in an accident at less than 25 miles an hour and the car did not respond as it should have. All things considered, this is a great car for any driver who likes to have fun with a little dash of function. Also I would recomend getting the XRS model if at all possible.

  • 123K and counting - 2003 Toyota Matrix

We purchased this car for my wife that was averaging 40K per year in mileage and she needed something that would drive good in the snow. The AWD is great, but we are on our second set of tires. Currently the car is in need of brakes, but not too bad for a car with 123K on it. We have only done 60 or 90K major service, but nothing else. We have used the car for major yard projects and it fit everything. We have also used that car to move two times 600+ and had no issues with the car. Weve done numerous road trips with the car and every time it works great. The only one complaint that we have is the car seems to burn more oil than usual and the horse power a LOT less than needed.

  • Great for an inexpensive car - 2003 Toyota Matrix
    By -

Most of my driving is in a small town with stop lights or signs at almost every intersection, and I am still getting 28 - 30 MPG. I love the roominess of the interior. The seats fold down completely flat so that you can really load this car full of cargo. My only complaint is that in order to depress the clutch completely, you are too close to the accelerator which can get uncomfortable if you are driving for awhile. I bought this car for economy and did not expect it to be as nicely appointed or to ride as well as the more expensive Toyotas or Volvos I have owned in the past. It isnt and it doesnt but its not bad. Its roomy, and, for what I paid, it is an excellent car.

  • Great Car For The Money - 2003 Toyota Matrix
    By -

Bought my XRS last night, 4-6 weeks until I take delivery. The car offers more versatility for the money than any other car we looked at in the price range. Its great if you are looking for a fast, fun car that can still handle a bit of cargo. It looks great, but I wish there were more of an aftermarket!

  • Car of the year - 2003 Toyota Matrix

Excellent car, runs well on freeways. City is a little rough (pot holes).

Paint on front bumper has peeled and fallen off, now it is flat back. Service tech told me I probably bumped a curb while parking and that makes the paint fall off. Stated it was a manufacturers defect but Toyota has not acknowledged yet so they will do nothing to correct it. I thought thats what a bumper guard was for. Dumb me. Also milage is not what it is rated. On a good day gets about 24 mpg. Also "tires for life" program sucks. Salesman stated "Free tires as long as you own the car, regardless". Did not tell me I also needed to buy Road Hazard on them. Sooo, I have bought 3 tires. I do have road hazard now. Thanks Deluca Toyota for hiring such ace salesmen to take advantage of us!
