  • Saved by a 30 day trial! - 2003 Toyota Camry

I intended to lease this car for my company use and decided to take advantage for a 30 day test drive the local dealer was offering. I had no idea at the start that I would actually pay the $1000 at the end of the month to give it back. This car was a total pig on the road with probably the worst performance Id ever driven and mind you I once owned a Chevette! The interior was neat looking but very uncomfortable.

  • Excellent value for the money! - 2003 Toyota Camry

I have owned this vehicle for 1.5 years and I love it. It is quiet, comfortable and very relaxing to drive in the urban, traffic snarl. I barely notice the other vehicles, even ones with sirens. I replaced the stock Michelins MXV4s with the new Michelin Primacy and the car is quieter than I ever imagined. These tires really seem to work with this car. The ride is supple, comfortable but you can tell what the wheels are doing. Mine is 2003.5 model which is the 3.0 VVt-i motor and 5 speed tranny and I love it!

  • My car, totaled, but I walked away - 2003 Toyota Camry
    By -

First, the Camry is very comfortable and very reliable. Other than the regular maintenance, I have never had to have anything fixed. I was just in a major car accident, the Camry saved my life! A minivan pulled out in front of me, I didnt even have time to go for the brakes. BAHM! 60 mph! The car did exactly what it was built to do, all of the airbags deployed, The engine compartment collapsed and the engine dropped down. The passenger compartment was undamaged. I walked away with only a small cut on my finger and some heavy bruises from the seatbelt! The Camry is totaled, but Im okay!

  • 18000 miles of satisfaction - 2003 Toyota Camry

We bought an XLE V-6 (the mid-year newer engine w/ 5 speed) with every option, specifically for an everyday commuter car for the two of us. The best $27K (out the door) Ive spent in a while. Front cabin is roomy, visibility is great, trunk is huge, avg 26 mpg composite, comfortable ride, adequate stereo (usually we replace a cars stereo with $2K of premium gear, but the XLEs JBL is good enough). Only problem was the accessory drive belt shredded after 18000 miles. Dealer replaced it in one day with a loaner (3 yr warranty). Overall, this car beats the Accord EX -- we test drove those 3x before buying the XLE after our first drive, and havent regretted it.

  • Great Mileage! Great Car! - 2003 Toyota Camry

This is a great car. I drove it the first year in DC. I now live in Germany. It is rock-solid at autobahn speeds and quieter than the Audi 80. We drove to Paris last weekend and, not wanting to have to buy gas at French prices, we kept the speed at 63MPH (100 KPH). We got 34 miles per gallon! This is not the only time that I have confirmed the advertised MPG. Mine is a 5 speed w/ the 4cyl engine. The only complaint I have is the rear spoiler. It makes backing up difficult; cant see over the darn thing. If I had the choice I would have left the spoiler at the showroom. The only maintenance problem was an elec lock on one of the rear pass doors. Toyota dealer fixed it at no cost.

  • perfect blend - 2003 Toyota Camry

Accord is too conservative on the exterior design, but built solid; Altima is bit agressive on styling, but little thin on interior layout. The SE is just the right touch, Lexus styling, foglight, spoiler, quiet engine as what you expect from Toyota, what a blend! Manual 5sp would have been ultimate, because I have never driven any 5sp shifting so smoothly close to automatic as SE. Dashboard design is suprisingly more American, spacious cabin and trunk only sustain the point. SE just makes it stands out of Camry family with all the right touches. Proud to own

  • whine in 4 cyl engine - 2003 Toyota Camry
    By -

great car--beware of noticable engine whine around 1600-1650 rpm-dealer says Im the third one this month to complain about it --says they dont know what to do about it-whine is quite noticable and very annoying in such a quiet car. I would probably have paid the extra money for the v6 (assuming that it wouldnt also have the whining noise) I intend to contact toyota and see what they have to say about it. very distressing in an otherwise great car.

  • Demand this car - 2003 Toyota Camry

I test drove many Camrys . . . all good quality. I would have bought sooner, but the Camrys you find with a good deal sell too quickly. Not only that, but some dealerships have jerks for managers. It was a hassle to find a good deal, but the car is worth it. Its good all around, dont expect sport, young or hipness, but very smart and sensible.

  • A good buy - 2003 Toyota Camry
    By -

Tested Accord, Altima. Settled on Camry SE, manual. Used CarMax.com no hassle price of $17,300 as the starting point with the dealerships. Got it down to $16,900 + tag + tax + $100 dealer processing fee.

  • No Regrets - But..... - 2003 Toyota Camry
    By -

I have no regrets about my purchase of the XLS Camry. The ONLY problem I have had is the breaks. The only way to describe the problem is by saying the breaks are comparable to manual breaks. VERY HARD peddle with little reaction. Dealer has told me twice that it is just a typical "TOYOTA" breaking system. I dont buy it. That said, I love everythging else about the car. It has respectable handling, enough power (only got the V4), and the interior and exterior are very pleasing. Would highly recommend. The breaking issue is an isolated thing I am sure.
