  • Disappointing - 2003 Toyota Camry

Disappointing car considering cost; transmission seems confused at times; poor dash layout; mediocre fuel economy; paint chips easily; overall, not much better than my 99 Camry.

  • First and Last Toyota - 2003 Toyota Camry

Where is that legendary Toyota quality every one talks about. The paint is chipping off this car faster than I can touch it up. The transmission is constantly confused between 45 - 60 mph. The windows, doors, dash etc make loud snap, crackle and pop noises. The brakes feel like they dont engage until the the brake pedal nearly hits the floor. The steering is numb at best. The list goes on. If your dead set on buying an import I recommend you buy a Honda, Nissan or Mazda. Even a Hyundai would be a better choice than a Toyota.

  • Had it with Toyota - 2003 Toyota Camry

Ive had several warranty repairs on this car. The motor for the Camry driver seat back went just after the warranty expired. I probably used it less than a dozen times. The electric drivers window can not be set to partial open. Its noisy. I keep thinking a window is open somewhat. Gas mileage is not what was listed. My A/C is intermittent and the dealer cant fix it until it is totally gone. If you drop something between the drivers seat and the console, good luck trying to get to it. Paint job needs improvement. Ive always bought Toyoyas, but this may be my last.

  • Tall People Beware - 2003 Toyota Camry

The car runs great, but is not designed for everyone. Leg began cramping to the point of numbness days after I bought it, but the dealer and manufacturer were unsympathetic; politely listened but took no responsibility. Scouring the internet, I found similar cases for people 6 and over (Im 6). Ill have to sell the car at a loss after driving it for only a few weeks. Buyer beware: take a LONG test drive.

  • Hated it! - 2003 Toyota Camry
    By -

I loved my 89 Camry which we had for 13 years til we traded it for an 03. What a disappointment. Never did figure out how to park it straight. I always had to overshoot to get into a parking space. Styling was as exciting as a refrigerator. I traded it in. Dont leave a Camry outside overnight... mine got mildew in the little seams around the car, and if it was wet and I opened the drivers window, water dripped inside right onto the power window buttons. Toyota told me that was OK, I wonder over time if water in the buttons would hurt it? Front and back edges not visible from drivers seat, very hard to judge parking. Wouldnt buy again.

  • Not that Great - 2003 Toyota Camry

Driven many Camrys and this one is no different. Terrible exterior styling. Mushy Brakes and Steering. Great Headroom, strange dash. Poor choice of materials on the doors(felt?) This is a Toyota Buick. This one stalled many times. ONe word SOUL, this car has none. After getting back from our trip driving this car. My 1995 Buick Riv was so nice, better power, ride, style, brakes, handling, everything.

  • Good car, but overrated - 2003 Toyota Camry
    By -

This is an incredibly well-built car that does most everything competently but nothing really well. Mines a tricked-out XLE (4-cyl) with leather, roof, JBL system, heated seats, etc. I have nothing to complain at 60K miles, but cant really brag about it, either. Fact is, this car is dull as dishwater. The I-4 is a slug. The JBL sound system barely qualifies as "premium." I dont feel any connection to the road through the steering, which is over-assisted and much too light at all speeds. Build quality is outstanding, as is reliability. Good back seat room and seats are 7.5 on the 10 scale for comfort (our Volvo V70 is the 10). But the Camry is dull, dull, dull.

  • Pause Before Moving - 2003 Toyota Camry
    By -

Although the vehicle has excellent fit and finish and the quality of the build is quite good, Toyota fails to complete the vehicle. First, the vehicle pauses every time you push down on the gas, then it goes. This is maddening. Second, the brakes go down to the floor--no better stopping though. This is disturbing. The tailpipe hangs down under the car and only has about 5" of clearance from the ground. There are far too many blind spots. The mirrors are for decoration. The Tilt Steering column doesnt. Toyota tells us that if any of the warning lights come on, they will get interested--Otherwise-Toyota designed the faults and likes them.

  • dont buy this car get a 2004 and up - 2003 Toyota Camry
    By -

bought the car from a dealer. car needed the starter and fan system replaced 2 days after. car runs really hot. oil is seeping out of the engine. car has 103,000 miles on it for a Toyota this shouldnt be much. there is a known issue with camrys from 2002-2006 with the headbolts stripping off the engine block causing the engine to overheat and then blow at any givin time.and there is no support from toyota they could car less selling the car on name alone instead of quality. if i could go back in time i would tell the dealer to keep it and got into something else. purchased it for Toyota name and quality and got the worst car experience ive ever havve to deal with do not buy this car

  • Saved by a 30 day trial! - 2003 Toyota Camry
    By -

I intended to lease this car for my company use and decided to take advantage for a 30 day test drive the local dealer was offering. I had no idea at the start that I would actually pay the $1000 at the end of the month to give it back. This car was a total pig on the road with probably the worst performance Id ever driven and mind you I once owned a Chevette! The interior was neat looking but very uncomfortable.
