This is incredible vehicle. I have lot of fun to drive it and gas mileage is not that bad for 8 cyl car, if some people concern about gas prices everything I can tell, Toyota Echo is still available for gas savers. Engine and power train was tested on Land Cruiser and Sequoia And proved itself very good.

Black 2WD 4.0L V-6 SR5, 17" Wheels ,Stone Cloth, M1 Synthetic Oil, K&N Air filter. This is a Great Midsized SUV. The performance of the new V-6 is just Awsome. It has a very good well mannered ride and has a great feel through corners. I always look forward to driving it. We already have 24k miles in just over 10 months, No Problems. We have 2 kids so the pull down cup holders and tray in the middle of the back seat work out great. The mileage is great for a 4000lbs+ SUV. We regularly get 19-20MPG in town and as good as 24.5-25MPG on trips with sustained speeds of around 55-65MPH. 800+ mile trip from NC to MI with speeds of 70-80mph 22.5MPG. Looking to buy another Toyota soon.

There are only a couple of minor issues that I wish were different. The rear view mirror is too close to the roof for easy adjustment. The stereo system is a little less than desireable...sound quality. Otherwise, we love this vehicle in every aspect.

  • Best SUV for the money - 2004 Toyota 4Runner

I purchased my V8 4WD 4runner new in Aug 2004. I now have 89,000 hard on and off-road miles on it and it still runs like new. No problems, no repairs, just scheduled maintenance. I had Toyota install a Readylift 2.5" front lift kit, Bilstein HD shocks, 32" BF Goodrich T/A tires and a TRD air filter. I highly recommend these upgrades for off-road use. The increase in performance is amazing. Average gas mileage is 18.1 mpg. My previous 4runners had approx 400,000 miles when I sold them. The 2004 is much better than previous models. I plan to keep this car forever.

A little over priced when I bought it. Fuel Economy is not one of it long suits! It is fun to drive.

This SUV is awesome. I have had mine for about 3 months now and I cant complain. Looked at the Tahoe, Yukon, and Trailblazer and nothing compares. What it lacks in towing power it makes up in handling. It rides like a car on the highway, and takes the off-road like a truck. I just got back from a camping trip, pulling a popup camper, without a problem. Even got 19mpg. If you need a huge SUV, this is not for you, but if you want an SUV that can maneuver the dirt path just as well as the Wal-Mart parking lot, look no further. Take a test drive; you will be hooked.

This has been a great vehicle. Its like the BMW advertisement where both the husband and wife want to drive the X5. We feel really safe with this vehicle and it handles incredibly well in turns for a live rear axle SUV.

This is my 4th (one of each generation). Cudos to the 4Runner engineers who find ways to improve upon this great vehicle. Not yet tested the offroad capabilities but if its anything like my 1999 Sport (at 10k+ feet ;), I will be happy.

I looked high and low for the perfect combination of performance, reliability and comfort. The 2004 Sport Edition I found was loaded with all the options I desired. Ive had toyotas in the past and have never had any mechanical problems. I dumped my BMW 740iL unreliable dinosaur for this awesome offroad driving machine.

  • Great Build Quality Inside Out - 2004 Toyota 4Runner

Purchased this SUV on July 31, 04. Put 50miles on it and am touch from the first drive. Roomy leg room for front and rear seats, self-latch rear door, nice hood design, climate control, standard vehicle stability control, ABS, EBD, EBA, XREAS, neat engine cover, comfortable bucket seats for front and REAR seats too, perfect design headrest fit w ell for my body posture are all the standard feature that made me choose this SUV over Plain look, simple dashboard design Honda Pilot with less features. I dont see what editor comment about spongy brake pedal feeling. I love the brake feeling compared to accords (Stiffer feel). I think its perfect already.
