This Year's Model Updates:

A new 3.5-liter V6 replaces the previous 3.0-liter unit. Larger 17-inch wheels and tires are now standard on the V6 AWD model and optional on the front-wheel-drive version. Antilock brakes are standard on all V6 models. The interior has been upgraded to reduce noise and now incorporates metallic and leather trim. The front seats now have seatbelt pre-tensioners and dual-stage front airbags. New entertainment choices include MP3-compatible CD players, satellite radio and a rear-seat DVD entertainment system (late availability).

Pros:
  • Strong V6, large doors ease entry/exit, spacious cabin, comfortable ride, excellent crash test scores, good fuel economy.
Cons:
  • Bland interior, low-grade plastics, inconsistent build quality, noisy four-cylinder, vague steering.

  • Vue-ish - 2004 Saturn VUE

After 1000 miles we are quite happy with our VUE. Mileage is about 20.5 without any significant freeway driving. Acceleration with the Honda powertrain is excellent. Steering is soft but acceptable. Handles and rides well though road bumps come through the cabin harder than I expected. Back window always dirty No key-way for back door??? Good interior lighting. Brakes feel good. Like shifter design/placement. Heater-a/c controls feel and look cheap. Great step in/out height for me at 6 and my wife at 57". Like the sporty/athletic/aggressive look

  • 1 month and counting - 2004 Saturn VUE

Nice vehicle. Have only had it a month now and like it so far. I love the exterior design and the green metallic paint is hot! The V6 is outrageous. I have not been beaten off the line since I bought my VUE. Smooth and powerful, yet quiet and easy on gas. I love it, my wife loves it, and our friends are jealous.

  • Surprisingly Refined - 2004 Saturn VUE

This vehicle was a standout from the pack with its 250 hp engine and the 5 speed transaxle. It is unbelievably smooth in routine driving, but it roars like a tiger when you punch it. Scary fast acceleration, especially because the torque steer. GM should work on that. I havent seen the All Wheel Drive in action yet, but my experience with front wheel drive in the snow leads me to expect it will do fine. The Vue has good ground clearance, and its independent suspension gives an exellent ride quality. The interior is roomy, although the rear seats seem rather low to the floor.

  • Great small SUV - 2004 Saturn VUE

I must say that I held off writing this review until the first year was over. This is a fun car to drive, and who would of thought a manual shift SUV would be fun? The entry level front seats for a long drive are not the greatest, so upgrade if you can. The sound system is very poor and should of never been in a modern vehicle. Other that that the car is laid out very well and I would recommend this SUV. A great every day car for those with a budget.

  • I like Mine! - 2004 Saturn VUE

I like my 2003 Saturn Vue. I like the large doors and sunroof. It rides smoothly and handles very well. I have a V-6 which my husband suggested and I am glad I did. It is powerful enough to get on the freeway and get moving quickly.

  • Made in the USA - 2004 Saturn VUE

I traded a Cadillac in on this new Vue in 2002 instead of 2003. I am so very much impressed with the appearance, the road stability, the electronic steering, roomy interior. I get great gas milage also. Saturn Service provides a loaner or rental car when it is necessary to keep overnight or an extended time. I am proud of my Vue, I am even prouder that it was fully Manufactured and assembled in Tennessee right here in the United States of America. Body, engine and transmission made here in U. S. A. from scratch.

I own a saturn vue, and we are very happy with it. Its fuel economy is excellent, and its optional gearless transmission is essential for maintaining highway speeds. My only regret was not going for the all wheel drive, but that will be our next Vue.

I have an all wheel drive v-6 2003 with the extras. People that ride in it are amazed. I love not having to step up to get in the seat and being high enough to see over the traffic and being able to see all around me. There are no blind spots and with 22,000 on the odometer I have not had anything more than the regular maintainence. I love not getting dings in my car doors - I could have gotten a more expensive SUV - a Lexus, Mercedes or Porche - but the difference was not significat to me. The cost of insurance is much less for this SUV and the safety factor is high in this too.
